we have a pair of Sandhill Cranes nesting in our back yard at the water's edge! no pictures unfortunately. it is too far for my little camera to zoom in but i will post pictures of any babies when they start to walk around closer to the house. i've been waiting for this event for almost nine years!

picture is NOT a Sandhill Crane! lol

i decided to try and take a shot. the bird on the nest is just left of center on one pic and center on the other. the male is off to the right.

just an update on the cranes.
we have success! they trotted out one colt today. there are normally two so maybe one is still in the egg. not close enough for much of a picture but here it is between the parents.

and yes, there are two babies. i watched them all day (didn't get much done). when it started raining, the mom sits down and fluffs her wings and the babies get on her back and nestle down and out of sight.

the parents took them back to the nest around 5 to settle in for the night.

the babies are off to the right in these pictures.
