Here's what I doing with Bomes this year.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

The mount is a recycled Lamp, made from a huge piece of western cedar.
I've tucked them into nooks and cranies and some will have to maybe tie in...
I want to get a few more to add to it...then in the winter I can take them off when we get a cold snap.

Suggestions for a few more to add ?? I like freckles/spots and stripes...

Mjs - this is a great idea. will they attach themselves as they root at all (sorry, If this is a dumb question, I'm fairly new to bromeliads). I have one that I placed in the crook of a tree a couple of years ago that is actually doing well and I only have one other that I bought today.

floridabunnie,
No, they are set down in little nooks in the wood. In winter I can remove them if we get a frost/freeze ( which we do get where I am )
I don't have a ton of them but I like them as they are so easy to care for.

Yes, I remember the freezes up there :) I lost a plant or two to this. We do have frost down here occasionally, but only a few days each year.

I have an area around my mahogany tree where I am thinking of planting a few. I figure they will keep propogating and fill up the area on their own.

Cute idea. They should grow well there.
