Why haven't my Pomegranate bushes produced fruit? They bloom every year -- they produced fruit twice, when they were young. Now they're about 6 years old. The only difference is our Honey Bee population has declined -- could that be it?
A shortage of bees certainly would affect the pollination process. Do you have any other flowering plants that would help attract bees? I've got a butterfly garden and I noticed a few years back that the bees favorite flower is the May Night salvia--they keep it covered every day from early morning till late evening. I've planted some other salvia plants and they love them too. Of course, as long as they're in my area, they take good care of all of my fruit trees and vegetable garden.
