There are a few I have wanted for a long time. These are Komodo Dragon and Jimmy Crack Corn. I am still in search of any new blues that I don't have - but haven't actually made a list. But any hosta would be welcome. They are like all children - they all are special and would be welcome!

Thanks for the d-mail Lelan, I missed the post. Count me in! I have just moved and since my beautiful hosta garden was a selling point for our home, I wasn't able to take any with me...so yes I am starting over. I will be purchasing hostas to send, but I'm willing cause I think the swap is so fun!!!
Guess I should change my name to kd405-I now live in Norman, OK!
Hi ZZtopsoil, thanks for letting me know about this swap and letting me slip in at the last minute on Friday. Looking forward to this fun !
I appoligize to the person who has received my name because I haven't listed my haves or wants yet. I only have one big old maple tree in my yard and 1/2 of the shaded space is taken up by shed.
These are the ones I already have:
Blue Mouse Ears
Night Before Christmas
Olive Baily Langan
Sum & Substance
Sweet Home Chicago
I would like to have anyones that I do not already have because I am limited on space.
I am planning to find these:
If you are able to help me with one of them it would be great ! but ..I'll be happy with anyone
Thanks in advance !
Fruity, have you tried putting human hair around your hosta to try to deter the deer. I clean my brush and put what is in there in a plastic sack and keep it under my cabinet. I do this all year round. Then if I need more, my neighbor/stylist will keep clippings for me from her shop. It sure wouldn't hurt anything to try it. ^_^
Sure glad you sent out those dmails Lelan. Looks like I wasn't the only one to miss the post and wanted in!!!!! Thanks for sending them.
I got my name and read the wants list. I think I can accomodate my buddy very well! I'm looking forward to the larger hosta in my front shade bed that get large. They have LOTS of room to spread out!
No, I haven't, Patti, but that's a tip I'll try. I'm assuming you've had good success? Plus it's free compared to pricey bottles of Liquid Deer Fence. I stopped buying them after I read the ingredients...over 90% water. 95% if I remember correctly. I've even considered purchasing deer and rabbit predator urine. Those are definitely deer tracks in my Hosta bed along with areas they've pawed in the mulch, and have only seen a couple of bunnies this year that thankfully weren't in our yard.
Oh wow! I should have walked down to the mailbox earlier today. I got my surprise box of Hosta's today from my secret trade partner (((Mittsy))). And boy did she spoil me. :-) She sent me 8 hosta's and 2 other plants that I just adore. Every thing was wrapped so nicely, it felt like Christmas opening them. She included tags for them all. I set the note she sent down and now I can't find it. LOL So I'll let you all know what all she sent once I find it, or tomorrow when I can get out and look at the tags again. But for now, here's a pic I took of all my new babies.
Thank you so much Mittsy, you made my day and I really 'LOVE' everything you sent.
Planning to send out my secret buddies box early next week. Hope I can make her as happy as Mittsy made me.
It's late and I need to get to bed. But wanted to share what Mittsy sent to me.
Here's all the fabulous Hosta's she sent.
H. Wide Brim
H. Thomas Hogg
H. Fire and Ice
H. Pearl Lake
H. Yellow Boa
H. Lemon Delight
And the other 2 plants
Blue eyed grass
Hairy Toad Lily
Mittsy, In 2009 we had record breaking cold tempts here that lasted for 10 days. That winter I lost a lot of plants, many that made it through many a winter here. My toad lilies were among the plants I lost. So when I unwrapped the one you sent you can imagine the excitement I felt. I have really missed them and had been thinking how I should get another.
And now I don't have to. Thank you again :-)
You're most welcome. I admired the Blue-Eyed grass in my DIL Carrie's garden in KY while visiting several years ago. I love to weed and did a bit of it for her. She was so happy, she told me to help myself to anything I could divide. I did divide that grass and have been enjoying and sharing ever since.
Allan P. McConnell
Fried Green Tomatoes
Iron Gate Delight
Sweet home Chicago
Sweet Tater Pie
Twist of Lime
Just wanted to pop in and say my mailman just handed me a package, that of course I had to open IMMEDIATELY! YEA! I am in "Hosta Heaven!" I received a fabulous box of all kinds of hosta from joycet. They all seem to be in perfect condition, but am going to give them a quick drink before I put them in their new homes. We have been having light rains during the nights and the ground is perfect for working with. I don't say ~whispering~ TY, for plants, (old fashioned myth I got from my mother), so I want to say AWESOME! I am very grateful for all the wondrful plants you sent, Joyce!!!! I will post pics later on.
Mittsy, I love the blue eyed grass too! I grow a few different Blue eyed grasses. I have a dark blue, white and a yellow. The one you sent is a lighter blue and will go very nicely in my collection. Thank you again. :-)
I am getting ready to go plant, so will get a pic before I do. I am also thrilled with the Sensative Fern. I have a spot where I just planted 2 fern, and decided I needed to get a third, NOW I HAVE ONE! ^_^ Anything I should know about it? How did it get it's name?
The mail delivery was great today! I got my box from Deb (Willit grow?). What a master at packing. I never expected to get 5 hosta plants in a small Priority box. Thank you so much. The slugs and snails have really been out in force here. Her plants are all so neat and tidy, no lacework. It has rained all day today, with more on the way for the rest of the week. So I have potted them up and they will get established before I plant them out into the Hosta garden beds. She sent Ginko Craig, Shiny Penny - her favorite, Cracker Crumbs, London Fog, and Stiletto.
Nice box of Hostas you got there Mittsy. They really look good. Good job Deb!
I spent the afternoon packing my partner's box, just have to print the postage, then I'll request carrier pickup for tomorrow. My hint is... Sense my state is as far west as you can go, it's going east. LOL
Glad your box arrived in good time and condition Mittsy. Trust me the slugs have visited my garden also but, oddly enough...they seem to like some of the bigger hostas more. I would think the dwarfs ad minis would be easy access. I do appologize thou, I realized after I had already mailed them, that you already have Ginko Craig. Hope the others are new additions for you.
Happy Hosta Day !
I don't mind duplicates. Can always gift them to one of my sisters. Talk about regifting, here's a funny story. My sister Mari emailed me a picture of a beautiful unusual black iris and wanted to know if I new what it was. I did, it was black Gamecock, LA iris. She didn't know where it came from, I told her I had it but that I didn't think I had given it to her as it was a slow grower for me and didn't bloom every year. As a rule I only give her "easy " growers as she doesn't have two green thumbs! She says, oh I don't have it, Stacey does! Stacey is her older daughter and she lives in MA. I have since found out that Stacey got it from Trista, Mari's younger daughter who lives locally and I did, in fact, share it with Trista as she has two green thumbs! When Stacey sold their house in MI, a lot of her plants crossed Canada to come and stay at her sister's until they bought another house in MA. She was replanting her new home and Trista was sharing a lot of her own plants with her sister.
OMG! I got home from picking up DGD from summer school and there it was, on the porch. A box! From Fruitofthevine! Filled with 9 beautiful Hostas: August moon, Elvis lives, Fried green tomatoes, Geisha, Paul's gold, Silk kimono, Victory and 2 NOIDs. Fantastic haul, I am doing the happy hosta dance. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. (No worries about the nibbles. We have deer and rabbits that consider my garden their salad bar.)
First pic is all 9.
Second pic is Silk kimono, Victory & Geisha
Third pic is Paul's gold, Elvis lives, August moon and Fried green tomatoes
Forth pic is the NOIDs but as you can see they are beautiful, too.
I'm off to put these in pots until I get the new bed ready. ( I might need 2 new beds with all of these!)
Becky, I'm so glad you're pleased and that you understand about the deer nibbles. It was also great having the opportunity to send to you since I've never had the privilege before. Enjoy & happy Hosta gardening!
[quote="kd303"]Thanks for the d-mail Lelan, I missed the post.
OMG, I think Kim was my secret hosta Santa because I just got more hostas from Hallsons!! At first, I thought I should email Chris about the mixup because I already got my spring order, LOL. But they're from Norman, OK, so I'm thinking I just got really lucky. Kim chose 'Autumn Frost', 'First Mate', and 'Key Lime Pie'. Chris also added 'Luna Moth' as a bonus, so now I'm not bummed about leaving it off my previous order! Seriously, I'm in hosta heaven.
Thank you, Kim, I love them all so much! Will try and try pics later, running late for an appt.
I love your description, Rose. Very nice selection for you Paul. I cleaned 200 daffodil and narcissus bulbs this morning, only 300 or so to go. I must learn to say NO when a friend or family member threatens to compost perfectly good stuff.
Joy, Joy, Joy...just the person I'm looking for. OMG at all the beautiful Hostas you shared with me, and you managed to sneak in three additional plants!
Lakeside Hoola Hoop
Hacksaw (very different with its serrated leaves)
Several of these are getting ready to bloom.
Agapanthus africanus 'Peter Pan' (a dwarf Lily of the Nile. I've wanted any Lily of the Nile for so long!)
Polemonium yezoense / Jacob's Ladder 'Purple Rain' (new plant for me to try, and no I didn't know the Latin name til I Googled it...lol)
Tiarella 'Spring Symphony'
What a fabulous job, Joy, and am once again overwhelmed by your generosity :)
You're welcome, Paul! Glad to see that they made it without any damage. Hope you enjoy them. Your wants list left me a lot of choices, and I was moving several out of a bed that was getting too many roots in it! Too bad you didn't want any giants, because I moved a 'Gentle Giant' also.
If you all are loving 'Luna Moth', you should look at 'Goodness Gracious'. I have both, and I'm liking 'Goodness Gracious' a lot! I just got 'Autumn Frost' from Naylor Creek this year, and it is a pretty one! I still haven't figured out where I'm planting that one!
Rose Lol. Yeah I don't know why I said that. Oh well. Lesson learned. ;)
It was my first swap and I think my attitude for the next one will be send me whatever. As someone said in a post earlier if it's a duplicate I'll just give it away to a friend or save it for the next swap.
I'll have to post the uber mature NOIDs I have. They were saved from another property.
I just want to Thank Plantnuz aka Brenda for the box overflowing with hostas among other things. I will post a picture tomorrow and a list. I am just too wiped out to stay up any longer. Thanks Brenda for the awesome box.
My pkg arrived today from UMD_Terp. He sent Hush Puppie which is new to me, a really cute NOID, a Christmas fern and hamamelis virginia - don't think I spelled that right but the common name is witch hazel - way cool. I'll post a pic later.
Oh Helen! I received my wonderful box of hostas from you yesterday right before I was leaving for the afternoon. I quickly unpacked and gave them a nice cool bath. They are all beautiful. Helen sent me Abiqua Drinking Gourd, Komodo Dragon, Halcyon, Invincible and a NOID, which looks like Fried Green Tomatoes to me.
Helen you were very generous and I'm anxious to find wonderful homes in the shade garden for these beauties. Thanks for your thoughtfulness!
I'm glad that they arrived safely and that you like them. Joyce you have such a beautiful garden!! All of my other hostas are wishing that they went to Ohio too. LOL It was a good week to ship as the temperatures were in the seventies. Enjoy!
Great trip to the post office this morning !!! I received my box today from 50glee !!!!
I only had time to rush home to get them in water for a drink and then had to leave for a family picnic. Have been anxious to get back home so I could tell you all !...
I received four beautys... Tequila Sunrise, Diamond Tiara, Quilting Bee (which I have seen and thought I wanted to get !) and Toy Soldier (which I think is my favorite) Sorry not able to post pictures anymore for now.
Thank you 50glee ! They are wonderful !
Glad they arrived in good shape. Sorry about all the shreds, but we don't take the newspaper anymore. Yes the non hosta are all full sun plants, hope you can find a spot for them. They all do spread a little, but not a lot here.
Thank you, THANKS YOU < THANKS YOU,,, Betsy / Beaux!!
1.Lakeside Ripples... a Giant Hosta
2.Jouneys End'... a Giant Hosta
3.Yin... a Small to Medium Hosta
4 Frosted Dimples... a Medium Hosta
5. Hacksaw... a Small Hosta
I just love them all. They arrived in perfect shape and even have flowers budding on them, I could not believe how big the box was,, over 4 ft tall!!!!
And the two giants were just huge with lovely leaves. I really cannot say which one is my favorite. They are all perfect and a wonderfull addition to my hosta garden.
I will get pictures and post them when I go to the Library tomorrow.
Happ I am doing the happy dance!!. They all look soo great!!!!! And I now have my first really big hostas!!! They are going to look stunning in the place I have picked out for them. I will try to get pictures of thier new home this week and then try to upload them.
Guess what I had waiting for me when I got home...my box from my buddy, Bobbi (hostaluver84).
I got a great box full of hostas and so different, nothing the same or even close.
Oh yeah all with metal tags...wowzer.
Sorry took so long, got home from work and had to look them up on the net and stick them in some water for a long drink.
praying hands - I have eyed this one for sometime especially since I saw it growing in a pot, way cool
white feather - OMG this is a pure white hosta until it gets some age and then will have some green streaks...omg
polar moon - is beautiful with the two tone green, very pretty hosta
clause - Bobbi should this be Clausa? Didn't post this one, wasn't sure on the name.
I posted a couple of pictures off the net, I used the camera this weekend and it is dead but will post pics of everything as soon as it recharges but wanted to tell my buddy how excited I am and what a great box, filled with some wonderful hostas, can't wait until they grow up! great great box!! I am a happy camper.
I have the perfect pot for praying hands almost identical to that pot in the picture, so I am really excited and white feather is way cool, I am going to put it by a huge granite rock I have and it should really pop with lack of color...rofl. Just a great package and I am really happy with all of it.
Happygarden ~ I am glad they arrived safely. White Feather I have had about two years now. It increased enough that I could finally share some. It winters well in Wisconsin so you shouldn't have a problem with it in your area. Clause or Clausa, is different. The flowers never completly open for me. They are a dark redish purple and very neat. I love looking at it when it blooms. I hope they all do very well for you.
Bobbi, the hostas you sent are really a great size and I am thrilled. It was so nice of you to share White Feather with me since it is such a new hosta for you and so unique...I have been using black mulch in the hosta garden so white feather should shine in the dark, like a solar light...rofl. I will pot them first so I can keep an eye on them for awhile especially since this summer has been so dry, I sure don't want to lose any them.
I was reading about Clausa and I was hoping that was what it is...
Clausa is at the Missouri Botanical Gardens and this is what they said, which I thought was really interesting:
This medium hosta is native to Korea. Foliage typically grows in a rounded clump to 12" tall and 12" wide. It is a sterile triploid that is noted for producing purple flower buds that do not open. Clausa means "closed bud" and the Japanese name of this hosta, Tusbomi Giboshu, means "closed flower". Unopened buds eventually drop to the ground in fall without producing fruit.
This is clausa when it grows up. I will hopefully post pics tonight when the battery is charged...
Sorry to hear a bout your chaos, Crit. I also had things crop up and just barely got my box out yesterday! I had plenty of time two weeks ago to buy my swap buddy a new division, and then everything went to heck the next day.
@HappGarden: Black mulch? Come on now, go all naturallle. Sorry, black mulch has become a favorite in the last few years. I'm more partial to brown if any dye at all. Anybody use the primo Licorice root? The creme de la creme of mulch.
I only use black mulch in the shade garden because I do like the way it looks, afraid to use it where the sunshines or where my dogs run because of the heat and it would look horrible, but in the hosta garden I love it, otherwise the mulch is natural, no dyes, no rubber mulch... ;)
What is primo Licorice root, I couldn't find anything on the web about it?
Crit we have missed you on the other forums...hope everything is ok.
UMD, I see that you are in MD but don't know where Laurel is...anyway, if you or anyone for that matter is interested... there is a hosta hideaway in York Springs PA..not too far off of route 15 (between Gettysburg and Dillsburg) if you are willing to do a road trip. She has Luna Moth. I plan on going to get one. Don't know how much it is thou. Her website doen't have prices or even what she has but here is the address if you want it. thehostahideaway.com They have been in business for about 5 years now.
Oh My Goodness...Shawna...!
I Had a Big Surprise When I Came Home.
I Received My Hosta Box From Shawna(Eleven).
(Can You Tell How Excited I am...Got Home at 4:30pm and I am Posting at 5:15pm.
and Yes...I Did Take Time to Put Them in Water...
Thought I Would Drive Through the House When I Saw 'The Box' Leaning Against the Front Door...)
Shawna was so Kind to Me. I Got 6 Wonderful Hostas from Her!
Shawna Sent Me These Beauties to Add to My Collection.
Lakeside Hoola Hoop.
Sum and Substance.
and... Undulata Univitatta.
Everything Arrived in Perfect Condition! Oh I Just Love Em...I Just Love Em!
"Thank You So Much Shawna"...
You are the Best!
I am so glad they arrived, would love to see pics because I have never ordered from them but on DG they had good ratings. I plan on ordering again if everything turned out ok, guess I used you as the guinea pig, now that I think of it that wasn't very nice...
Hope they are ones you didn't have and can add to your collection. Enjoy.
ruby42, those are amazing, big healthy plants. Wow!
I think everyone has received great Hostas, and the fun isn't over yet :)
Meant to comment earlier, happ, that your White Feather is a beauty and is so different. Lovely garden shot too of your Hostas with the black mulch. It really does make them pop. Here I just use the regular brown mulch, and that mountain of wood chips the tree people gave us two years ago has been put to good use and is now reduced to barely a mole hill.
hostaluver84, I keep meaning to ask where you found those plant tags those are so nice. I took a pic of them, but it was dark enough outside that my camera flashed and you couldn't see them. Really really like those.
I make an aluminum tag and engrave it (I am not an engraver so I am probably the only one who can read them) but your tags look really sturdy and easier to write on them. I have this really big 140 lb black lab who runs thru the gardens in the winter so they have to be able to with stand him.
NOTE: Honest I am not a bad pet owner, we tried putting him on a diet but since he runs free on our land, I caught him with a goose foot hanging out of his mouth...so I gave up on the diet... He was a stray and I think he went without food too long so he is making sure that never happens again, but I wish I could figure out a way.
While I was dividing my hostas for my buddy, I accidentally chopped a few off. I plunked them in a bucket of water and now they have roots, any interest? I don't need to keep the extras. II'll get the names and take a picture when it is light out.
I'll have to remember next year that you can root them in water. I accidentally chopped off a few too. Very clever idea and this way you may make plants for next year's trade. I believe that hosta lovers are very smart!
I have a 3 rooted stems of Fire & Ice and 2 rooted stems of Wide Brim, can also add some Thomas Hogg if interested. My niece took the Pearl Lake. Left the camera across the street in the garage and just can't handle the heat to go get it. This is for postage.
I wanted to post a picture of 2 of the Hosta I sent to redrock69(kirk)! Maple Leaf on the right and Bingo on the left, I also sent him WHITE BIKINI, Pandora's BOX, Kiwi Full Monty , and Coral Bells(palace purple)!
Those are beautiful. I have never seen either one of those. Love the size of the leaves...wow.
I bought empress wu hosta this year, but so far it must be growing underneath cause nothing is happening above ground...rofl.
50glee, thanks for posting...I was wondering ...but I just figured you were on vacation. Sorry to hear about the computer problems...I've had a few of those myself and since I have a different computer..I've never been able to post pictures again. I just don't have the time, money , or patience to get it figured out .
Oh well, thanks again for the wonderful hostas ! Love them !
Can anyone give me names of your favorite yellow/gold MINI or DWARF size hostas ? Or different from the normal coloring. I did just see one at a local hosta place that was a mini and was similar to Spilt Milk but I'll be darned if I can remember the name of it right now. Needless to say ...I'm going back for it.
Just want to say THANK YOU TO LELAN again. I know I am happy and I believe it looks like everyone else has been also .
And I forgot to post pics of the hostas kd sent me from Hallsons:
1. 'Autumn Frost'
2. 'Key Lime Pie' with 'First Mate' and 'Luna Moth' temporarily planted here until their homes are ready
3. A closer pic of 'First Mate' and 'Luna Moth'
I got a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday afternoon! ZZTopsoil sent me TWELVE hostas. I can't believe that these hostas came all the way from the west coast and look so good. I have them in water right now. They all came with labelled stakes and detailed instructions! Lelan increased my hosta count by 50%!!
He sent me Alligator Shoes, Birchwood Parky's Gold, Deane's Dream, Fragrant Bouquet, fortunei Albomarginata, Guacamole, Honeybells, Regal Splendor, So Sweet, Squash Casserole, Striptease, Undulata Albomarginata.
We're having a heatwave right now and I'm supposed to go away this weekend. Do you think that it would be ok to keep them in water until Monday?
Thanks so much Lelan for all of the lovely hostas and for the work you do to keep us hostaholics happy!
Helen l have 2 in a kids swimming pool for about a week, I have been moving things out of a garden and redoing it. Can,t remember the names like Blue Angel and another and they are doing fine. They will be planted today...
A nice surprise was in my mailbox when I got home. Got my hosta box today from Crit.
Got them out of the box and am going to get them into some water for a nice cool drink and then potted up for eventual planting. I love them all, Crit!!! Thank you so much for:
Night before Christmas (I had a try and failure at this one last year - am happy to be able to try again)
First Frost - such a pretty blue. I am sure it will look fabulous!
Blue Hawaii - a big beautiful blue
Sum and Substance - got the perfect spot for this one
and a bonus! Amethyst Basil. Never heard of it before - but I LOVE basil!
Well We Are Not Through Yet...
Keep the Hosta Happy Dance Music Going...
Still One More Box to Go.
Glad Your Hosta Box Arrived Finally...I Have Been Worried on Needles and Pins Here.
(One Whole Week for Delivery...Mailing Priority Mail Seems a Bit Long)
Your Hostas Will be Just Fine in Water for Awhile.
With the Heat You are Seeing There...Place Them in the Most Shaded Area Around Your House in a Big Bucket or Pan of Water at Least 3" Over Their Root Systems Out of Any Breeze or Wind.
You Should be Fine.
But be Sure to Take the Plastic Bags Off the Root Balls.
Somehow I lost the thread!! This has happened on several of the ones I watch, don't know why. Was lucky to be able to go back to the invitation dmail ZZ sent me to find you again!!!!
Betsy, so glad you like the hosta's I sent you. So many of my hosta's are only about a year old and hard to get starts from.
I love the Amethist Basil. The purple leaves are so cool and it puts up the prettiest purple/white flowers. (the leaves get a greenish/purple if it is out in full sun, but in part sun or bright shade the leaves are all a deep purple. I have several plants and most of them are in full sun.) Keep it pinched back on the top sets of leaves for a while so it will make a nice bushy plant for you.
I just tried posting my pics that I forgot to post earlier and the post is now somewhere out there in cyberspace! So, I'll try again!
Thanks to Becky (beclu727) for all the goodies that I received in this swap!
I received Bobbie Sue, Silver Crown, Ginko Craig and Golden Scepter. I also received some plants for the sunnier spots in my gardens...Yarrow, Spider Wort and Coneflower. As you can see Bobbie Sue and Golden Scepter are still pouting! It's been so dry and hot here that I have to water everyday to keep them happy. They will all stay in their pots in the ground until next spring, when I hope we'll have more moisture!
You're welcome Rose. They should be happy to be farther north. My Bobbie Sue and most of my other hostas are pouting here, too. It was 108 degrees in the shade of the back deck yesterday at 4pm. Supposed to be a little cooler today, only 106! I've been watering my hosta bed morning and evening here just so they don't wilt completely. Just hoping it doesn't encourage too shallow roots. We'll see.
Becky I don't think it is cool anywhere. Missouri all week long over 100 and that is June, we sometimes have a day or two that hot later part of july or August but this is unheard of around here. Hostas pouting here but I have drip hoses running everywhere.
Supposed to be in the 90's with high humidity all week here. I went out at 6 am this morning to look at the beds and was shocked at how the weeds are thriving! I'm just trying to keep my hostas watered this year. I haven't been taking many pictures because of the burnt leaves or bleached out colors. If this dry weather keeps up I'm sure I'll be getting rid of a lot next year. Maybe my "secret swap" friend will have a semi pull up with my package!
Well at least you have had power. We've been without electricity since Friday. They say it'll be a week before it returns for some. Thanks to the power companies that have come from as far away as Georgia, Mississippi, Connecticut, Canada...
P.S. I have some epi cuttings that I need to unload anybody want to trade hostas for them? I have to check on them, they are in the basement but they should be fine, nice and callused over. If i recall correctly they are largely unidentified, a ric-rac for sure and maybe half a dozen epis. I just don't have the room or for more indoor plants. DM me if you're interested.
I just checked with the post office and my lost box of hostas is supposed to land in thier new home today... If they did not survive the trip please let me know and I will resend,, just may haqve to change them around some...So Sorry swap buddy...
Box has arrived-actually arrived on Friday. Hostas were a little thirsty but I have given them a long drink of water and I think they will all be ok. Those hostas are a hardy bunch-one of the many reasons I love them!
Well With that Post We Are Finished!
Looks Like Another Successful Hosta Swap...
Thanks to All of You.
I Hope Everyone has a Wonderful Summer and...
Are Enjoying Their New Hosta Editions.
I Will be Posting the 'End-of-Summer' (E-O-S) Secret Hosta Swap at the Beginning of August.

Thank You Everyone for Taking Part in the Spring Secret Hosta Swap.
Hope I See Some of You in August for...the EOS Hosta Swap.
Until Then...Keep Those Hosta Happy...
Try to Water Often...When You Can.
I'd like to add my thanks, too. As always the pairings worked well and everyone got spectacular new Hostas. I'm sure we all learned there are still more out there that we can add to our want lists. I potted up all of mine and have been babying them through our unusually hot weather. They are looking fine and I am happy every time I look at them. I am enjoying the hummers visiting the dark purple flower spikes of the old Ventricosa plants that border the shady portion of my garden. The raccoons will take down the feeders every time I forget to bring the feeders in for the night but they leave the Hostas alone. Here's a couple of pictures showing some of the hostas. It's about 10 degrees cooler in the shade than the sun, so I weed as long as I can, then come inside to the a/c, predicting 97 today and 99 later in the week.
Pretty pics Mittsy, it looks nice and cool. We are to hit 105 several times in the next two weeks. ;(
My birch tree is dropping leaves from stress which is letting more sun in on the hostas which is burning some of the leaves. ;(
I am so glad I put my new hostas from the swap in pots until they get bigger. First I put part of them in the ground and I have since dug them up and potted them.
I have had a sum and substance for about 15 years now and this is the first time it has looked so sad. I am watering like crazy but we are on a well which worries me if we will have enough water for me and the plants and even watering just doesn't work as well as Mother Nature.
I know folks in Texas and Oklahoma have been battling this problem for a couple of years now, this is a first for me since I started gardening.
