I just mentioned in the daily picture thread about the Barn Swallows again trying to nest above our front door. We have no problem with it and would actually enjoy it if they stayed there. Our activity seems to frighten them off. Maybe some year?? We've seen city dwelling Barn Swallows nesting under the eaves of strip malls and tolerate all those people walking about.
We have an old building that we only use for storage, but it doesn't have a wide eave. I found this that we could possibly put up. This building has no trees near it, so it seems like a safe location. http://www.50birds.com/MPBarnSwallowLedge.htm
Has any one built something like this and had it used by Barn Swallows?
