This tree appeared in my yard several years ago. We didn't plant. It just keeps growing and this year has flowered. Does anyone recognize? Thanks. Bees and wasps seem to like it.

Yes, the seeds can be lit on-fire and make a good torch!

Great for a Hawaiian party (Tiki torches) while preventing the spread of this noxious weed tree. Sounds like a great plan. I hope I'm invited.

Also, they can be invasive...my neighbor has one...we have removed 5 or 6 of them over the past few years...all volunteers.

Yup...that is why they are called TALLOW trees.

    I'll cook!

The State of Hawai'i, DLNR, used o give away seedlings of Triadica sebifera to see how they would grow on windward Hawai'i Island. They were considered as a possibly economically important tree.

Fortunately, the tree has not yet naturalised here.

You can't have shrimp (or gator) without grits and tasso gravy.

Tallow trees are terribly invasive here, we are encouraged to destroy any we find on our property. For many years you could buy very attractive and unique christmas wreaths made out of the berries around here.
