    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on this list makes or has made a ribbon quilt (horse show , dog show ribbons and rosettes)? I was wondering how it is done,I have some and instead of hanging on the wall I thought it would be nicer to have even a pillow or something a little more interesting.

    Thank you

I remember several years ago, someone posted one or directions for one, I don't remember exactly which. Perhaps if you use the listing at the bottom of the page and go back, you might find it. Unless someone remembers better than I.

Sorry not the bottom of this page, the bottom of the home page.

I tried to make a wall hanging once but never got the "look" I was going for. I think I also remember someone making one a few years ago.

Did some Googling for you, found a few sites with ideas:

    http://www.showthrow.com/quilts.html

    http://www.distinctivedesignsbydiana.com/horseshowribbonq.ht...

    http://www.keepsakeribbonquilts.com/ribbon_quilts

I didn't find a 'pattern', per se, but found this to give tips on how to prepare and use these ribbons for a quilt:

hope these help give some ideas!

Karen, I remember reading on a post somewhere that asked about making a quilt from competition ribbons, but have no idea where or which building.. but those bright colors sure do make for a pretty quilt top. Or pillow, or wall quilt, or...

Pretty sure it was this building but quite a while ago. It's one of those nagging little things in the back of my mind. Almost wondering if it was Stu.

that's a possibility.. He and Jumper are the only 2 that I'm familiar with on the threads that would have ribbons, although there are probably plenty here that I haven't met yet

I saw somewhere where they did strips with the ribbons in a herringbone pattern. A friend of mine just did one useing the ribbons in a block and then other blocks with it to make a quilt. The ribbons were on the diagonal across the block, then the blocks were pieced with sashing and quilted . It came out really neat. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Hey thanks everyone! I didn't want to "practice " with my own ribbons. My dog is retired and I wanted to do something fun with his ribbons.
