Sometimes, but not often enough, Green Parakeets will visit our backyard. Here in McAllen, Tx and throughout the Rio Grande Valley, flocks are common, attracting birdwatchers. Some flocks number in the hundreds.

Pretty birds! Are they escapees from the pet trade, or are they native to the area?

The Parakeets origin has always been a question. Some say they traveled north from Mexico and some say they're escapees. As long as I remember they've always been around.

I still consider McAllen "home" 0 lived there from 57 till 86.

Everytime Fauther posts something, it makes me so homesick !

I agree with you about how it is so congested now, I know
we could never go back but I still want to...
ironic wht you say , guess where we live ? in
the sticks outside of Dallas !

Time moves on, but I DO miss the citrus orchards, birds,
and being able to pop over to Mexico or SPI
whenever inspired to do so.

And of course being able to visit face to face friends
from my youth, thank God for phones and internet !

But dont get me started on all I miss !
