My tall phlox are about to begin blooming. I have noticed several stalks with damage near the tip. About 4-6 inches down from the tip is flopped over. Inspection of area shows noticeable injury. There are small wounds about 1/8 inch across and forming a spiral pattern up the stem. Some of the damage is almost cut thru the stem also. Possibly caused by caterpillars or a piercing insect? We are having an unusually large amount of brown moths this year of several varieties. I have applied dipel dust to the stems, and will check at night to see if I can catch any bad guys doing damage. Thanks in advance for any help. Your milage may vary. Don't re-ellect ANYBODY!
