Can someone recommend a pretty climber that would do well in a zone 4. Preferably not red.

Golden Showers is a nice yellow climber that is hardy to zone 4. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/948/

Kiss of Desire is a nice pink. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/122709/

Joseph's Coat might be hardy to zone 4. Some sources mention 4, others mention 5. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/367/

Seven Sisters has several shades of pink at going for it. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2305/

Paul's Himalayan Musk Rambler is light pink color. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/64797/

Seminole Wind is another pink climber. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/64871/

Peggy Martin, another pink. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/170799/

Hope that helps!!

I live in Zone 5 and tried to keep Golden Showers going 3 times, no dice. Joseph's Coat, not even close, acts like Zone 6. Victorian Memory is zone 4, John Cabot, Darlow's Enigma, and Laguna is techically Zone 5 but thrives without extra protection. Another thing you can do is wrap the roses in burlap, just one layer plus mulch.
Good luck.

We're on the border of zone 4 and zone 5 in Maine. Sky's the Limit is a lovely butter yellow that has done well, although the canes often die back and it has to start over. Likewise Climbing Westmoreland a lovely orangey yellow. When the canes die back the new ones alway produce roses by late June.

New Dawn, a nice shell pink, produces canes that don't die back.
