It certainly looks like one to me. My extremely tentative guess would be Ribes Hirtellum, an American gooseberry. Their native range includes Ohio. I don't know the Ribes family very well, though, and there are a lot of them, they will cheerfully hybridize with other gooseberries so don't take this as definitive.
