I have one peony in my Northern California gargen. It is in the sun for 12 hours and does well as long as the winter is cold. It is next to a fountain that freezes so I break up the ice and toss it onto the peony. I had 13 gorgeous blooms this spring. It is worth trying! It had finished blooming in late May.
