I recently had dinner with the horticulturalists that diagnosed the blight in Europe. One of them is in charge of Battery Park in New York City. As for the other one, all I remember is she organizes earthly delights in NJ. They said that they believe the blight comes from over pruning the shrub. They said that we do not allow the shrub to have proper air because we prune it back too tight.
