What is with this heat wave? And the storms that seem to accompany it are just shy of hurricanes! Can't believe the mess in in Washington/VA area. I think I was more shocked to see pictures of the crews cleaning up the GOLF course like it was sacred ground!!! What about the half million people with out power and trapped by big downed tree's???? GEEZ!
It's 63 now, high of 82 today w/possible thunderstorms.
Special Happy B-Day goes out to my youngest daughter Tarsha, she turns 30 today!!!
Priorities, Pixie, you need to get your priorities straight. People need someplace to go when it gets too hot in their house because there isn't any AC because there isn't any power. No better place than a golf course for that. Oops, sorry, my tongue is sticking out through my cheek.
Hope Tarsha has a great day...yes, the heat is tiring...should be in the 80s by Thurs. I hope! No spectators were allowed at the golf tournament...too dangerous on the sides of the fairways...feel very sorry for the sick & elderly without a/c or fans in that heat...
Yesterday on our drive through Nebraska we saw 105 on the car thermometer. We watched a storm a brewing. Kinda scary looking. It poured and the wind blew. The temp dropped to 77 then as we moved out of it it rose back up to 92. have never seen such a sharp fluctuation in such a short amount of time.
Today, as we headed away from Mt. Rushmore we ran into another storm. The plan was to camp tonight ,but the storm changed that idea. We found a quaint little motel in Buffalo, Wyoming. There are different sized cabins or even a teepee if you aRe so inclined. We stopped for dinner when we realized we weren't going to be tenting it, so I looked online for a place to sleep. The reviews for it were good so for $55 we have our own little cabin. Reminds me of old motels from the fifties or sixties. Kinda fun.
It was 67 when we pulled in for the night. The high we saw today was 99.
Not looking forward to today and tomorrow's heat
Glad I was inside all day yesterday felt good last night though, spent day at Crayloa factory and then saw some more fireworks
Went to Trenton Thunder game on the 4th, it was so nasty and sticky and then they had fireworks, rain started the very second the fireworks ended and then the storms fireworks started. I've never seen non stop lightning like that and then had a couple downpours after midnight...we need the rain
Going to be 84 again today but the humidity is leaving thank goodness!
Have 3 pools set up for the grandkids in various sizes with umbrellas over each one. Got my bottle of WATER BABIES SPF 50 too so no one gets sunburned. Today is going to be a day full of love, fun & food!!
glad it's going to be better up there for you today... hope you have a great time.. 69 now going to 99... going to be hotter with the heat index.. 105 - 110.. UGH.. we are going to start cleaning up the plant room and make room for halloween stuff already.. no day to be outdoors today
Debi - where do you plan to stay at Glacier? If we get to take our trip, we will stay in Kalispell. If you get to Many Glacier Lodge, the Renovation plan was done by my DSD's firm. She was the original architect on it, but had to turn it over when she was about to deliver our DGS. She and I are very close and I am quite proud of her, especially as a parent.
Started out at 56 when I got up, it's 61 now but a high of 91 - 93 here today. YUK!
Don't know how you folks down south stand it!!!
Anything over 90 makes me physically ill, I either need to stay in an AC or head to the ocean and spend the day in and out of the ocean water. Maine ocean water is not warm, yesterday it was 64-66 degree's.
Asked the kids if daddy poured something on the deck, had no idea it rained only .06" though
75° high was only 76° what happened? that was sooooo weird, it was supposed to be 90° today...got some weeding done
It's 66 here this morning, high of 87 today with humidity in the low 70's - high 60's...sticky weather again. We usually get a good thunder-boomer after a day or 2 of this type of weather but we haven't yet. Wish we would, we need the rain!
All good, going to meet them at the local firemans carnival for some clams and a beer. A cousin told me I've been glowing since becoming a grandmother. Even Dave comments how my voice changes when I talk about Leah.
Well I got my Leah fix, held her for a few hours which she slept most of but did wake up the last few minutes. Dave held her for the first time tonight too. She is 3 months old today, and is outgrowing her newborn clothes. So sweet.
Went down to the shore to hang with my cousins at their beach house, chilly there and wouldn't have gone if my other cousins from out of state weren't there, she invited us back down when it's sunny again
oh man.. yesterday was an absolute perfect day for my buddies party... he had fans in the yard for when it was a bit warmer during the day.. and once the sun went down the fans kept the mosquitoes away ... perfect perfect perfect!!!... I kept saying thank you Santa for the great day!!!
Great day! Was supposed to go down the shore today but too much work that couldn't wait though, isn't that the way it always happens?
Went out and added some different paths to the fairy garden, kids played in sprinkler for all of 1/2 hr...bums!
Hit 86 here a bit ago. 85 now, with a dry 38% H. Was really hot sitting in the sun at the Mets game. No cloud cover at all. When the breeze did blow it was a nice cool one. Got some burn despite SPF 50 block!!
