I can attest to this one. I had six young Weigela 'Wine & Roses' shrubs I planted as one gallon plants in April. I almost immediately started using Miracle Grow plant food. Well, that caused all kinds of problems. The Miracle Grow caused the Weigelas to not synthesize the pigments in the leaves like they should have been, because the plants were spending all their energy growing extra leaves. Then the fertilizer also caused the shrubs to push out new foliage faster than the roots could keep up with. Then we had 100+ degree temps and continuous wind. As a result I ended up with very green and very scorched Weigela 'Wine & Roses' plants. Here's a photo link: http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n616/samnsarah/DSCN3440...
I've since stopped using the Miracle Grow on them but am still watering every day due to the extreme temperatures and no moisture.
