pods on blossoms

What are the green pods on dried blossoms and what do I do with it?

South Hamilton, MA

Those are seed pods. It you don't want seeds cut them off. If you would like seeds, wait until they dry & start to split at the top. then havest them. don't let seeds drop as there will be a different iris plant beside your existing plant.

Thank you for your help, why is it going to be different? Deb

irises do not come true from the seeds, You can only have the same iris bu manually divideing the plant. Seeds produce different plants just like people produce different people.
