Do you have companion plants planted with your hosta? Which ones are your favorites?
I've got a lot of companion plants, 3 different carex, toad lilies, hardy begonia, columbine, astilbe, a few different coral bells, pulmonaria's, aruncus and dwarf aruncus, and quite a few others, hehehe. I am a plant "collector" LOL.
I can't say that any one or even a few are my favorites, as I love them all.
Most of my companions are other hostas, but also ferns, astilbe, tiarella, coral bells, a few pulmonaria. For some reason, the squirrels, or something, keep digging up and stealing the pulmonaria. I'm giving up on those.
I have 2 toad lilies, which are blooming right now. It doesn't look like the frost has gotten them yet. Also hardy begonia, columbine, astilbe, a few different coral bells, pulmonaria's & hardy geraniums.
Don't forget Brunnera,Lamium,Monarda,Phlox(I think it does much better in the sun then shade)Polygonatum and Monkshood.
Zeb,I just love pulmonaria's so many different ones.Never had squirrels dig them up tho.The squirrels in my yard like to dig and eat my iris.
I have coral bells, astible, ferns (great ones from dg trades) most companion plant's are other hosta. I have no toadllies yet (but if you want you can send me some).
I have decided that I must redo a couple beds just to keep my hosta. (BIG JOB)
