Just blocks from my house at Hackberry Park, several old palm tree trunks have been strapped to a telephone poll, attracting the local Red-crowned Parrot population. Yes, population! Flocks can be regularly seen here in McAllen and throughout the Rio Grande Valley. In this picture, a juvenile Red-crowned Parrot patiently awaits its parents as the day slips away.
