Space is always at a premium here in NJ but probably like some others states started the "green space" initiative awhile back. Mostly for new developments so they weren't putting mcmansions on a 1/4 acre lots.
Was driving thru a town near where we used to live, they have NO open space there, tiny little residential area with shops, restaurants and homes. there is an ice cream shop that stood in front of an L shaped shopping area, antiques and book shop, a exotic bird shop(that had a fire awhile ago) well, they razed the entire area except for the ice cream shop and declared it open space WHAT???? Isn't that the most messed up thing? Hey how about bulldozing the whole town? That would really open things up

I
f they were just a menace to themselves, evolution/the Darwin Effect would remedy a lot, but they are also a menace to innocent drivers and bystanders around them.

It's time for some gentle peer pressure, folks !!!

Don't be afraid to give a little tap on the car horn if someone is really out of line.

Shake the "scolding finger" at them, unless they are bikers with guns.

(edit: index finger, not the middle finger.)

I wish we had more universal hand gestures for communication between cars. The 'one' that we all know is what I always assume others will think I am using. And more choice in car horn. Some are hard to force into that ' non aggressive beep beep"

A car pulled into the spot next to me at walmart. I looked over to find both individuals completly naked. I imediately thought they had been running from bad guys and lost their clothes in the scuffle, or had to swim through the swamp and remove their clothes do to leeches. All reasonable conclusions, far more reasonable than this being the all time low of what you acceptably wear at Walmart.

We had a GE fridge that was pretty young (less than two years?) and the defroster went bad, major problem. We ended up buying a new fridge and getting the warranty. I've never beleived in those appliance warranties but for new fridges I just fear that they have gotten too complex and squeezing so much efficiency out of them ...kind of backed up by 'cathy' in the appliance forum.

Wait till you get a new car with the tire sensors. Something like a computer module. A neighbor had a friend that had one go bad. GM wanted $130 for the sensor & plus labor (here its 80 ph) as you have to have it programed!

Friend got an after market sensor 57 bucks, charged 20 to put it in. 77 bucks, saved 53 bucks. Still costed 157 bucks for a computer to contoll your car.

I dont go for that at all, its just so wrong.

We have a questonable air bag light- Is it the bag or just the sensor? It seems you can only guess and check, at car owners cost of course.
There comes a point where the benefits don't make up for the cost.
Last night news was talking about new emissions standards. I can't 'save' a couple hundred a year on gas when I can't BUY the new $20 000 car.

True, Marilyn! Google has had driverless cars for years, testing them over 300,000 miles and they say that the only accident was when a human driver was in control! Nevada already allows driverless cars and if the Governor of California signs the bill, California will have driverless cars on the road, too. The combination of a breath alcohol testing ignition and the driverless software could prevent drunk drivers and the death and destruction they cause. Now we just have to figure out how to deal with the texting and cell phone talking drivers!

Job update: looking for 3 years and got this. I work now for a Floral company.

I service a market for Bouquets. I work in my town. Went to work Monday and got a call to go 30 miles to another store. Got travel time & pay. By the time I was done I worked 9.5 hours Monday. Tired, lame & beat to death.

This is a Part Time Job. Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays. Saturday I have to go in for 1 hour to make sure everything is Pretty. I get 15 to 20 Hrs per week, depending.

Again this in my own opinion, is is a flat liner job. It is not a guarentee check. It bounces on what they need.

I am my own boss in a sense. I do like it, but, if a better job comes around I am clocked out.

Why is the bridge out? Did I miss news of some event?

Hmmm. Woman at the library today was stumped at making a Username and Password that she had to do in order to do an online application to WalMart. Think ing about it- as life goes more tech, who are we leaving behind? Yet another obstacle putting the less advantaged job seekers at the end of the line.

They are redoing every bridge that crosses over the Tpk from 7a on down cause they are widening it, for a while we had 3 bridges in a row out...why couldn't they work on 1, finish it and THEN move to the next one???

Yes, they are leaving some behind that just don't "get" computers...I find with older married couples, though, that 1 will take to it and the other doesn't

I'm guessing the bridge work had to all get done to fit with using Stimulus money.

I'm including myself in the ranks of those who re threatened with technology going far beyond me. I can well see younger people blazing past me in use of advanced smart devices. Imagine if I applied for a job that wanted Twitter skills...ack!

It's crazy! every road I want to take they're doing something on it
even for the field trip yesterday the bus takes the turnoff for the cranberry bogs and it ends up being a dead end, guy that lives on that road was outside and told the bus driver they recently closed off the road that went straight thru to the bogs, had to back the bus up and go a different way

Jen we got reminders all the time in grade school (my kids) but to actually find them would have been a real shock to me too!

The last hotel we stayed in, in NYC, had gone to sparkling white for all the bedding. I bet thats so people can see there are no bedbugs.

We'll still have to write by hand no matter what. It just won't be pretty. or script. YEah it will be kind of lame. Some sort of print I guess. My former boss (man) had the most beautiful cursive writing, I admired that. He would have learned in the 1930s.

I saw that about the cursive writing but then talking to a teacher they said they wanted to start cursive earlier because it was actually easier for little kids to make the loops and stuff
So you never know where they get their ideas from
I think that with so many people without power they are realizing you can't really rely on computers esp if you have no electric

You do tend to see a lot of seniors in certain doctor's offices.
I enjoy, much more, going to the Gym and seeing people older than me. There's a lady who I am sure is at least ten years older and I bet she can kick my butt. She'll do Zumba and stay for the power class. Way to go !

This from a post from a guy I used to work with, he gets calls like this all the time...ROTFL
Me: Hello, Security, this is Roric
Man: Hi, I need to speak to the manager please.
Me: sorry, he is not here, he works M-F 7am to 3pm
Man: I have a huge problem. I was there about two hours ago and one of your employees threw change at me and I am not going to tolerate that kind of behavior.
Me: Sir, I am not sure I understand you. I think you may have the wrong number. This is Carnegie Center in Princeton.
Man: No it's not. This is the number I was given. The operator wouldn't lie to me.
Me: Sir, this is Security at Carnegie Center.
Man: I know you are lying because Carnegie Hall is in New York. Am I on a comedy show?
Me: Carnegie Center Sir. Not Hall.
Man: What is Carnegie Center?
Me: Sir, is there anything I can help you with?
Man: This is stupid. I just called to complain about your employee.
Me: Sorry Sir, your coupon is in the mail. Goodbye.

DS is watching a really interesting documentary on Netflix, "Urbanized"

-Mumbai has a ratio of something like 500 people to a toilet. (Supposedly) working towards their goal of fifty people to a toilet.

-Brazil has a bus system with exclusive bus lanes- much cheaper than building a subway. So a bus with a hundred people gets a (theoretical) hundred times the space on the highway. So smart! In some areas, pedestrians and bicycles have a nice paved path alongside a mud road for cars- encourages the bikes and walkers. Yay!

-Now showing The High Line in NYC that I read about but we did not get to see when we visited last month.
