we didn't even put out the haunted garden stuff last year with that crazy snow.. bleeding heart fountain, and freaky flowers.. figured that fountain might be a good thing to block the tree stump.. bad news is.. no tree to hang our ghouls on
well the stump is still there... not paying to grind it down.. so anything going there will be quite a while from now.. and it was right under the power lines and really didn't make sense to be there.. so most likely not something that large anyway
Was just reading about a grave found in Egypt - only contained dozens of right hands. Seems that was the tradition - you brought the right hands of your war victims and traded them for gold. Ah - the good old days.
we went to Michaels & used our 25 off the whole order coupon.. picked up a bunch of large foam pumpkins (we like those the best) and a few things for around the yard.. the best find .. was a plaster skull.. Randy wanted to start playing around with latex to make our own props.. figured while they had one done already.. lets get it
just so everyone knows.. these are not good.. even with all the music & stuff at our house.. the thing NEVER gets set off.. I have to clap as loud as I can to get it to go off.. very disappointing.. maybe once a kid squealed and set it off.. I even tried putting other noisy props nearby.. still no good.. don't waste money on them like I did
Your neighbors know & love you! My granddaughters were playing with some strange dolls today...Ghoulia & Spectra were their names...one had a white face & purple hair, the other one had a helmet shaped like brains...I was like, "OK...Allison would love them!
Yes, Jen, the dolls are creepy! And HayHay got hers because her grandfather bribed her into eating green beans...my son was a veggie lover from day one, can't understand why his kids hate them...Allison, I like those lawn decorations...
started decorating the neighbor Barb's yard.. LOL.. she was away for a few days.. and was thrilled to see I was serious that I was going to decorate her yard this year as well as ours.. all the cutesie stuff is going there.. since Randy doesn't like to mix the creepy and cute together
Allison I thought of you yesterday at my brothers house. His GF Debbie is a Holiday nut...these guys sing Sonny & Cher's
"I GOT YOU BABE"
My eyeball experiment.
My first pumpkin carving of the year.
Of course I had to have Snoopy!!
Debbie's arrangement on her porch, my brother bought her the plant before he got too sick.
I noticed a few houses this morning with spiderwebs decorating their bushes, then after about the 5th house in a row, realized they were real and just showing up because of the mist...who needs fake ones?!
amazing how far led lights have come.. they now blow away the old style lights.. brighter.. last longer.. downside twice the price.. but wow are those new ones nice.. at least they are in a prominent spot .. Randy put arches over the driveway.. and those lights are on it.. I was shocked to see even the purple rope lights look red now though :(
Jen I might understand your color issues now.. LOL.. too bad this is so expensive compared to flowers
Holding that li'l darlin' must have felt good after your constant workout with the decorations. I'll be gone until the 29th but, after that, we intend to pass by with another couple one night, on our way to dinner.
Showed one of my GS the pictures. Told him that if we were up at my house we could stop to see this in person. He wasn't sure that his "dream catcher" would be able to handle the ghosts and goblins at night.
is iffy for some.. but on Halloween day I leave the storm door closed and put the baby gate in front of the door.. the little ones usually want to go see the cute little doggies barking.. and helps to get them up here
He's probably thinking that it would be like some of the places that we visited here last year. Bunch of med students rent a house nearby and really went to town with the scare tactics. They had smoke pots as you approached and all sorts of scary things popped out onto the walk and even touched us!! Yikes, I was scared myself.
For Allison & Randy ~ CHEERS for the 2 of you for all your hard work to make Halloween special for children & adults alike! Just want you to know that we on DG love the display, kids, surrounding towns, people i've shared w/on FB , everyone loves the treat you treat us with year after year. So a big THANK YOU and "CHEERS"!!!!!!!!
thanks.. was a lot of work this year... and as Randy pointed out.. "well at least we can start Christmas early this year".. because the stuff will be down already.. but I have a lot of programming to do yet
Oh Allison I'm so sorry for your display...glad you at least got the video you and Randy outdid yourselves. Just think now how special Christmas will be since you have so much more time to put into it!!! NO MORE STORMS!
so depressing out there.. most of the lights are down now.. we are switching the icicle lights over to christmas tomorrow.. Randy is going to switch the arches to red & green.. but the fence is down.. and put away .. Randy fixed up the sheds after we just threw everything in there.. he is such a great packer.. I am always impressed he can put so much stuff in our small storage spaces
