    Its Sticky sandspur, ouch!
    If its lined with bristles and spikes on the burrs it is southern sandspur, if just spikes it's Costal/field sandspur
    It looks to me like costal/field sandspur though.

    it can be eradicated but it takes time and watchful vigil on your part. look for the red/purple colored stems and pull it by the roots, being careful to get all the burrs. it tends to crawl along the ground until the burrs form and then they are more upright.
    nasty, nasty, nasty stuff.

    Ok, I am currently at war with these in my yard. You have to dig them up making sure you get the whole root. The stickers (burs) are the seeds. so make sure there are none left on the ground. this will be an on going process. What I've been doing when i don't have time to dig is cutting off the stickers to stop the spread. Do this before you mow as they will get into your mower and spread to other areas. check your shoes etc. before leaving the area.

    It grows on the beach where I swim, it gets between the dogs' toes and onto anything it comes into contact with hurts like**** and hard to remove. Thank goodness it hasn't got into my yard!!
