I don't know if you really like ivy or not - but. I would pull it off that brick wall. It may take some time but eventually it will put roots, fingers, climbing thingys into the mortor and eventually weaken the wall. barb

Ivy doesn't damage walls with sound mortar, only if the wall is already in poor condition.
I will close this as solved saying I have ripped it out, pulled it out,burned it out ,herbicide tried it out,and as you see from pic "it's back" nightmares are better than this plant.
We have a spot along our side fence with the same ivy and have used the same measures against it. After 8 years, I have settled for cutting it back when it pokes out it's ugly little head.
