Last year, I got seeds of Papaver 'Lauren's Grape' from a winter seed sowing class. The seeds germinated very well and last summer I had only a rosette of foliage (fuzzy grey leaves). This summer, the plants flowered with lots of 1" diameter flowers on well branched 1-1/2 foot stems. I was gathering seeds to post for trade and noticed the picture in the plant ID did not look at all like my flowers. Plants are just about done flowering now. Any idea what I have?
Indeed. Lychnis c.
Careful, if you let all those seedpods release the seeds, you'll have them sprout everywhere.
It's easy to pull out even when full grown plants (shallow roots), but still... extra work!
Looks nice though, with the velvety, grey rosettes.
This is funny for me because I got seeds in a trade that were supposed to be Lychnis coronaria and turned out to be Lamb's Ears, Stachys byzantina. I wish they'd been Poppy's, too.
