Attack of the black yuck

Windsor, CA(Zone 9b)

And it doesn't come off on the finger. What is it? Can it be cleaned off the plant or should I trash the plant? Thanks for any assistance. Xuling

I have no idea what it is, but it looks like some kind of fungus. Since the plant looks very diseased I would pitch it ASAP.

Almost looks like mildew.

I think that trashing it is probably the best course. It hasn't spread to the surrounding succulents, thankfully. xuling

Whatever it is it doesn't look good. I would toss it too.
Or let it wait it out in a quiet lonely place. I suppose it might recover.

looks like sooty mold, something that is pretty easy to wash off... grows from the secretions of mealy bugs/ants/etc... not usually a big deal itself, though looks bad... but often associated with other 'bigger deal' problems

It wouldn't wash or wipe off. I trashed the plant. And I noticed that a little yuck was on a similar plant. I remove the leaves on that other plant. Hopefully it won't spread. Xuling
