    When is the best time to sow larkspur seed here in Chesapeake,Va.

    Should the seed be covered??

    You are in Zone 5? If you sow in the fall, you need to have enough time for them to get grown enough before first frost, and mulch. If you sow in the spring, sow them as soon as the ground can be worked. Hmm the farmers Almanac indicates sowing flowerbeds on the 10th and 11th of Sept. good luck
