Debra, I don't remember seeing but one pic of a bloom you got from my sds. That one was a beauty and
looked like a cross more than likely since I couldn;t id it. It had a pic of Helenas pretty bloom right beside it, thread # 07 I think. If you have some more no ID's, post them
and we can all try to help.
Hi Ronnie, glad you stopped by and we'll be looking forward to your blooms.
Thanks Helena,. I think my Pink Tie Dye will open in the morning. I hope so.
Much needed rain coming thru tonight so I moved all my vines with buds, most of them anyway, into the shed trying to protect them.
that black king is so awsome, helena. I wish I had some .
Jackie, the speckles I posted earlier were from you, still waiting on the blue speckles next, I think the special mg seeds you sent me should bloom anytime.
my blizards are budding and the purps are all over the place, reds, pinks, light blue with purple ray, white with feint mauve spots, JL, Rebecca red and blue, kniolas, Ronnies lav purple, pure white, and shibouri. still no higes, but, the setosa and the orange mgs are budding and bloming now, the blue hederaceras are loverly up the sunflowers too.
I MISS my i plantesis whaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Debra, the pretty speckled you sent was a mystery to me too. I do think it had to come from my mauve unknown
which I think was a cross. Heres my mauve unknown which was in my lg tub out back last yr and it did have
those pretty speckles, the blizzard effect, I can't imagine what other sds your bloom might have come from..
Does it look anything like your bloom to you?
oh yes.. and the No Mai in Barrel came from you, too.. I have three no mais right now.. seem all different ..raining gnow, everything is all droopy, but the hummer is going to town on the orange noah..
Very pretty speckled bloom Helena. Wish I had grown one this season.
Debra, I love no Mai too and I have 4 growing, 2 regular no Mais and 2 Purple no Mai's. The purple will be stingy with sds but the reg no Mai should make plenty. Each one can be and is usually different, makes it special. I love no Mai.
Helena and Jackie, Aren't we so lucky to be able to see our morning glorys in the am? I slept in because it has been raining ( thank fully) and the smorgasboard was so much I couldn't decide what to take pictures of.
I just have to chuckle when I see all the posts and pictures of Morning Glories. Where I live they are considered a weed by many. I have them growing over my trellises, over my roses, atop my garden shed, over my bird bath and even over a shovel I left in my garden. It is one of the most invasive plants I have ever seen. I tried eradicating it but it's impossible due to the many seeds it produces. I finally gave up and decided to try and enjoy them wherever they grow. Occaisionally I do have to get out the electric pruners and cut an entrance through a garden path or pick my grapes that seeem to be hidden in them. I have to admit it is a beautiful flower but boy can it twine. I'm afraid of sitting too long in my yard for fear of...
that is gorgeous... a new one to me. I agree with Jackie and Helena, riceke should take pics and let us in on the fun. :>)
I'd love to see some grapes.
I was looking thru last years glorys and I see a lot of the ones I grew then in my gardens. I just planted some of everything I collected. I also planted some from the swap and private trades, and a few purchased . If I have a new one show up, it is either from a swappee, a trader, or Emma and you two..Some of the blues I know came from Karen2005 purchased two years ago maybe? Glad I saved those seeds.
last year.. came back really big this year..
Beautiful blooms Debra, I envy anyone right now with so many beauties. Yes Debra the Black King is a very dark color like the one I posted. Karen2005 has mg crosses she calls Duskie x Fuji which are hard to separate from the Black King especially if the tag got lost.
No blooms today, too windy and raining too much for me to go out and check in the gh. I also overslept but I see a lot of down leaves and branches from the trees.
Rain hasn't got here yet, maybe not until tomorrow night.
Had a Blue Bliizard in the g house. Temps got so high, my bloom could barely open. I'll have to carry my mg's out until tomorrow when it should be somewhat cooler
Pretty nice blooms Jackie. That is a nice color on your Shishi botan.
I went to check inside my gh a little while ago and to my surprise found a bloom still open, label from Karen2005 seed mix. I took the pic with flash on so it came out a little brighter than the bloom actualy is.
beautiful blooms, I am glad you all are getting some rain, I hope I do..I love the Shishi botan... it is a beautiful color.
yje flash did the bloom justice, Helena, it looks like satin..
Setosa is now blooming, so is little red..split peronality is split..
I am waiting on some other species mgs to bud and bloom... I already feel like the season is almost over when it is almost at peak for bloom production. lobata is still vining, and so is HB, white moon vines, and stictocardia. woodrose ( argea nervosa) and opurclunia and a bunch of others, still vining. They better get with the program!
oh thanks, Jackie.. just a lot of repeats from last year, Looks like you are having a great growing year too! You, know there are now two morning glorys you have shown I never heard of.. beautiful ones, too.
Thanks Helena,. Our rain just starting to arrive. I'm still carrying plants down to the g house. They have
backed off of predicting 8 inches of rain for us, thank goodness. More like 3 inches now they say.
I hope everyone will be safe from the flooding in the low lying areas and that the dam holds.
Unknown in g house floor
No Mai, a shame I had my hand in the pic because the bloom was beautiful
Jackie, your bloom is beautiful even if you are holding it. All very pretty, I think the middle one on the top set of pictures is either gray mist or gray haze. You probably can check on the plant files for a more positive id.
The sun finally came out late afternoon. I hope it doesn't rain here for awhile. Had to find a wildlife rescue place for a baby squirrel that our cat brought to us. Spent 1/4 of tank of gas doing that but it was a recent born baby and so cute. Hope it makes it. Jackie, hope you don't get too much rain like we did here.
I LOVE your jungle, you and I think alike! love your star of india too. i MISS HAVING THOSE.
Jackie that bloom is even more special cuz you are holding it. Love the no mai and love the cocoa choc. You are growing some beauties this year. Remind me what LYK is?
Thanks Helena. Maybe I'll get time to look at plant files tomorrow.
We've been getting rain off and on all day. I'm hoping tomorrow will not be an all day
Glad you were able to get the baby squirrel to a wildlife rescue center
Seedsower pretty nil bloom and a lovely Purpurea jungle.
Thanks Debra. Love this set you sent. Is that 1st pretty bloom Youjiro aka Rosita?
I love all your blooms though, all very pretty.
Deb,LYK is Beckys cross and the LYK stands for Lady Yaguruma Kaleidoscope. I know
one parent was Yaguruma Blizzard but cant remember right now who the other parent was.
Love all your blooms Debra and Jackie. Your dark and light blue blizzard catches my eye Debra. I love your soft blue light blue too Jackie.
My kids and now grandkids whenever they find a animal in need I end up rescueing and caring for. Here's a pic of our little baby squirrel before I took it to the rescue place. It was so cold, they told us to put it with a bottle of warm water to raise its tempterature.
Thanks Ronnie, Jackie and Debra. Quite a few years ago I did find a baby squirrel where I worked and I was able to find a tiny baby bottle and special formula for it. I almost thought of doing it again but when the rescue lady told my grandaughter that it would cost $60.00 for the bottle and formula I changed my mind. The squirrel I had before too I had my DH take to the wildlife rescue when it started running around and those little very impressive teeth scared me a little bit. The wildlife people would rather let nature take place, they were not happy when my DH brought it in but this rescue lady didn't scold me but did say they already had a few babies and was nicer. I probably need to visit a pet store and see about formulas and the tiny bottles. Well, I hope my baby squirrel makes it too.
Here's what's blooming today. Jackie, I was checking the plant files yesterday and your pretty gray blooms do look like gray haze.
Helena, thank you for id'ing my gray bloom as Gray Haze.Nice to have a name to go with my blooms.
I will share sds of this pretty mg.
Helena, my DH used to do baby squirrel rescues too. Our cats used to bring up baby squirrels that had blown out of their nests and onto the ground because of high winds, like we just experienced with Isaac.
He fed ours with a tiny dropper and the kit kat formula. It should not cost 60.00, droppers from
the pharmacy for 1.00 and the replacement milk is about 10.00 for a canister from Wal Mart. I guess the
rescue center was going to charge you 60.00 and make money off of you, pretty tacky.
DH fed the baby squirrels every 3 or 4 hrs just like a human baby. He really got a kick out of being able
to save them.
Pretty blooms you've got this morning. Do you have names for them?
Jackie, it would have been kind of neat having that baby squirrel but also work to feed it every 3 or 4 hours. Maybe next time if it happens again, Our cat pet Lily found it and was bringing it to the front porch but when she saw us she dropped it. I'm sure the pet store sells baby bottles and I'll have to check out the formula at WM.
My first picture above is the wild Cordatotriloba that came up from last year. The 2nd bloom is Q1298 and the last is Karen2005 pink mix which looks more like lavender to me. I was looking on plant files yesterday on all my blooms from 2008, I sure did start out with beginners luck with quite a few nice blooms. Too bad a lot of the special blooms I had that year didn't stay true.
Helena, the reason DH used a small dropper and not a pet bottle is because the nipple on the pet bottle was too big for the tiny baby squirrels. So he had to use a small dropper, feeding them up to 5 droppers at a time. They would let him know when they were full, they would just quit nursing.
I had a cordatotriloba too but it only made a few blooms. It was in the lg tub out back and the larger
vines might have choked it out. I did gather a few sds.
Nice blooms you had today Helena.
Jackie, I guess the dropper would work out better when they are just born and still tiny. I almost looked for one of mine, but with everything closed b/c of the storm I wouldn't have found the formula.
Love your blooms today, your no Mai and Tie Dye are really showy. I was surprised to see Cordatotriloba blooming so I'm thinking they should be blooming along certain roads here in town.
Thanks Helena and Debra. Debra, I wonder about the cordatotriloba too. I have a mile a minute vine in a pot but it hasn't bloomed this year yet. Waiting on a bigger pot I think. Seemed like last yr my mile a minute vine made tinier blooms than the cordatotriloba.
Plum Purple Velvet
I see the lvs on the 2 vines are very similiar, maybe they are the same vine
Thanks Debra and Helena. I wonder what happened to the Plum Purple part of my blooms?
Oh well, I love the pink. I hope it makes lots of sds.
I gathered 11 sds today off of my Purple no Mai vine. The lovely white no Mai blooms did not set a sd pod. Edited to say the white blooms were off my mutant, not the no Mai vine.
The white blooms were sterile and did not make a sd pod, very disappointed.
Helena, it does go by more than 1 name. My old pkt if I could find it, has an entirely different name on it. I hand wrote cordatotriloba
This could be Aogakiyama x Choc Silk thats blooming in the lg tub out back
Ronnie, thanks for the link. So what we've been calling Mile A Minute is not. I forgot that cairica is
the true Mile A Minute and it has palmate? leaves like platensis. This is my fault. Last yr I asked someone if their bloom was the same as
mile a minute and it stuck. So I apologize for causing this incorrect id. .
What I;m growing in a pot is highly invasive and I don't know the true id, perhaps one of the bindweeds.
I'll make sure I keep it contained in a pot. I would love to have the true cairica.
