photo sharing

Decatur, GA

I am very much an amateur photographer but would like to share my photos with family and friends. I know there are lots of sites to upload to and then send out for sharing. I just an so ignorant about which one to try! I hope I can get some advise on which site would be as user friendly as possible for me to get started with.
I am recently retired and want to scan my old photos into my computer, get them organized and share them.
Thanks

I don't know of a comparison between the available sites, or even a list of sites. I think a lot of people use Facebook, but I am not on Facebook. I use Photobucket. I suspect that more people use Flickr. If anyone knows of a good "Consumer Reports" type comparison, that would be helpful.

I like Picasa3 easy to use and you can send the pix to most anyone from it the biggest drawback is you can't download to Daves from there can only do that from your harddrive ..best thing is you can send entire albums at once

For what it is worth. As always with anything on the net, take it all with a large grain of salt.

Helen -- You might want to take a look at SmugMug. http://www.smugmug.com.

I've used it for years and like it a lot.

Thanks Jan, A2, my hometown!

Do these services cost money? In the photo sharing review page it showed a $amount with each review. Is that the cost? Per year?
Thanks for the info.
