Time is getting close for our RU, we need to decide what we want to do for eats. We are still a small group so Dave an I will be happy to provide the meat. We could do hamburgers and sausage.
What do you think? What do you want to bring?
Rouxcrew. Hamburger and sausage. Whoopie pies
Gymgirl. Those awesome greens
Kittriana. German potato salad
Big bubbles. Buns and jalapeño cornbread! Chips
Careyana. Southern green beans
Bariolio. Fruit salad, Greek yogurt
Athenssandy. Main dish salad and Texas chocolate cake
Lynn_H. Pumpkin pudding
Dashaunda. Slamming red beans
Flowerette. Brownies and paper products
Sorry Carey, thought I had replied, of course you can use the stove, you just have to wade through the BC's to get there.
Bubbles thanks for bringing the buns, just let me know if you can't.
Havent looked but thought there were going to be several kids at the RU? Was thinking of having a scavenger hunt for them, what do you think? Also was tossing around a Clue like game in my head for us. Each person gets an envelope with who, what garden implement, and where, and the rest of us have to figure out who killed the ???plant with what implement in what room, by asking yes/no questions.
PS my guys want me to make my famously good Whoopie Pies for desserts.
I can bring a fresh fruit salad and some homemade Greek yogurt from the fresh raw milk I get (Katy High School parking lot off of Hwy 90, 9-10am every other Saturday--next delivery is the 15th--from Stryk Jersey Farm). I'll also make some yogurt cheese for everyone to take home a sample. :) Now I have to write this down so I don't forget...Oh, bother my (lack of) memory! Janet
And, YEA to the rest of the offerings!! What kind of cake is our sweet baker going to make, Linda?? My friend's daughter just made a Black Forest cake with fresh cherries that was to DIE for!! Recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from the 70's!
I can't be sure if I will be free y'all's weekend, maybe I can send y'all a batch with someone heading that way. the one in the spring was fun.
I will send you my traditional recipe, I twisted the recipe a bit for my latest version which incorporates my ricotta and my chèvre from our dairy.
It is very easy and so kid friendly your GKs and GGKs can help. My youngest son, 21, and his girlfriend are no longer allowed to help, they were eating more than filling!
I may not get to stay long, short time off. German potato salad was my mamas version of hot tater salad, with a few changes, I add some things those Germans didn't have, and it's just as good hot as cold,
Excellent, Lynne. We would love to have you. I am going to try to piece together how many actual bodies will be here and post my findings here and on our original list. My home computer died and I have been limping along for a couple days with my IPad. I will try and send a blast out to everyone with directions and numbers by tomorrow evening.
