Woo Hoo!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

German potato salad?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

How 'bout the buns for the burgers and sausages and some jalapeno cornbread for the greens? Or I could bring a dessert?
Or all the above!

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Bring the jalapeno cornbread!!!!

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Woohoo for the greens!!!

And it looks like I'll be making some authentic southern greenbeans. Joy, let me know if I should bring a hotplate!

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Sorry Carey, thought I had replied, of course you can use the stove, you just have to wade through the BC's to get there.

Bubbles thanks for bringing the buns, just let me know if you can't.

Havent looked but thought there were going to be several kids at the RU? Was thinking of having a scavenger hunt for them, what do you think? Also was tossing around a Clue like game in my head for us. Each person gets an envelope with who, what garden implement, and where, and the rest of us have to figure out who killed the ???plant with what implement in what room, by asking yes/no questions.

Joy

PS my guys want me to make my famously good Whoopie Pies for desserts.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Joy, you may have, and my phone never got it. That happens a lot!

What are the BCs? Your pups? I'll share some of the (pre-cooked) beans with them if they'd like. :)

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

My Border Collies. You can try but they aren't much in the way of veggies. LOL

I can bring a fresh fruit salad and some homemade Greek yogurt from the fresh raw milk I get (Katy High School parking lot off of Hwy 90, 9-10am every other Saturday--next delivery is the 15th--from Stryk Jersey Farm). I'll also make some yogurt cheese for everyone to take home a sample. :) Now I have to write this down so I don't forget...Oh, bother my (lack of) memory! Janet
And, YEA to the rest of the offerings!! What kind of cake is our sweet baker going to make, Linda?? My friend's daughter just made a Black Forest cake with fresh cherries that was to DIE for!! Recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from the 70's!

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, Gymgirl, I can't come to your RU (we're having the NT one at my place on Oct 6th), but I'm intrigued by the pic of your crockpot greens. Would you share the recipe?

Also, Joy, it's bad enough we're not getting you this year, but missing out on your Whoopie Pies---come on , now. Would you make my 22 grands and 5 great grands happy by sharing your recipe?

Although I'm thrilled you guys are starting a more convenient swap for yourselves, I regret not getting you up here. I was just beginning to recognize faces and put names with them. .

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

I can't be sure if I will be free y'all's weekend, maybe I can send y'all a batch with someone heading that way. the one in the spring was fun.
I will send you my traditional recipe, I twisted the recipe a bit for my latest version which incorporates my ricotta and my chèvre from our dairy.
It is very easy and so kid friendly your GKs and GGKs can help. My youngest son, 21, and his girlfriend are no longer allowed to help, they were eating more than filling!

I may not get to stay long, short time off. German potato salad was my mamas version of hot tater salad, with a few changes, I add some things those Germans didn't have, and it's just as good hot as cold,

Sybram,
Lilly Mae's Greens Recipe has been in the tags since the very first RU I brought them to, back in '07? '08? Here's the link.

I'd love to join you and bring pumpkin pudding (more like a pumpkin pie)

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Excellent, Lynne. We would love to have you. I am going to try to piece together how many actual bodies will be here and post my findings here and on our original list. My home computer died and I have been limping along for a couple days with my IPad. I will try and send a blast out to everyone with directions and numbers by tomorrow evening.

Joy

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Gymgirl, It's been many years, but I still remember Lilly Mae's Greens. I probably ate 1/2 of the whole container.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Joy,

Dashaunda's bringing those slammin' red beans again! Add her to the menu list at the top.

Linda

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

I love red beans, green beans--all beans! Maybe next roundup I will bring some of those. My friends scramble if they hear about pintoes lol
I just knew Linda likes chocolate and haven't forgotten it.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Linda likes BROWNIES (with as many nuts as the law allows)!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Advised Joy I will bring paper plates, utensils, cups and brownies. Anything else needed, please let me know.
Carol
