Maybe a Mucuna, Sea Bean.

Thank you for that lead. It definetly is a leguminous plant b/c I've seen it's pods.
I've come to think it's probably a Snail vine (Phaseolus caracalla).- not the fragrant corck screw vine (Vigna caracalla) .
The lady who gave me the plant said it was from Caracas, Venezuela- further leading me to think it's a caracalla.
