These just showed up this week by the hundreds at my house. They were marching down the sidewalk like an army of ants would. They are coming up my driveway into my garage now. They do not all look the same but that may be changes due to various stages of growth. I do not have any boxelder trees at my house or in my neighborhood.

Not boxelder bugs; appear to be in the family Pyrrhocoridae - http://bugguide.net/node/view/299938
