I want something small for the winter months that's care-free and colorful. I don't want to deadhead . I'm in 8B. I have a barrel to plant in, and it would be in part shade. Any suggestions?

Hi Susan,
Haven't talked to you in a while. How have you been? What about snap dragons or nasturtiums?

Hi GG, great to see you, too! I've been doing fine.

Elaine, I think that sounds gorgeous, also. Mama always has pansies, but I thought I had to deadhead them? I grew them one year, and they got very straggly looking. I always assumed I didn't take proper care of them by deadheading correctly. I love the Kale idea! I went to a garden show where they had it planted, and it's a beautiful fall plant.
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. Keepp them coming. I'm still thinking!
