As I'm reading this, I am thinking about my own Autumn chores. My planting just ended for the season. Now it's close up the house, wash the windows, clean out the shed, (funny how all those bags of plant food, soil amendments, etc. never seem to find their way back to their appointed spot). Reading this is my little bit of procrastination. Thinking about ill health, too. I know that I'm slowing down a bit. But gardeners seem to be blessed by loving the outdoors in spite of their health. My neighbor passed a few years ago. In her nineties. Nice lady...loved Nature. As she grew older, she needed a walker to get around. But get around she did. There was no more heavy lifting, digging, etc for her. But I'd often see her getting around the garden with her walker and a small pot of soil in one hand. Looking to plant...always looking to plant. What an inspiration for all of us who love to garden.
