Hi, I have a couple of flower ID questions. What are these flowers? I'm always on the lookout for perennials and am wondering if these are native here (SW Pennsylvania).

Thanks.
Supriya.

The purple is butterfly bush, Buddleia davidii http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher[common]=&searcher[family]=&searcher[genus]=buddleia&searcher[species]=davidii&searcher[cultivar]=&searcher[hybridizer]=&searcher[grex]=&search_prefs[blank_cultivar]=&search_prefs[sort_by]=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search There are quite a few purple flowered cultivars so I think it'll be tricky to figure out for sure which one it is. Not a native (but it should be hardy in your zone and come back next year). The white one looks like a type of Shasta daisy (Leucanthemum x superbum) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher[common]=&searcher[family]=&searcher[genus]=leucanthemum&searcher[species]=x superbum&searcher[cultivar]=&searcher[hybridizer]=&searcher[grex]=&search_prefs[blank_cultivar]=&search_prefs[sort_by]=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search Also not a native, but is a perennial as well.

Hopefully if you plant a butterfly bush you would be more vigilant about deadheading it, a few minutes once or twice per week. That's one's running rampant, has few flowers, and does not look as pleasing, structurally, as a more meticulously maintained plant.
