I bought several poppies but really don't have room for them. Can I grow poppies in pots? I bought a lot of Papaver hybridum like 'Sugar Plum', 'Single Black'. I hope to grow them in pot, at least for a couple of years. If OK, what size pot?

I don't know why they wouldn't grow in pots, especially in California. But I would think you would have to keep them in shade and cool. In pots they would have the heat all around their roots and I know they like cool. Well, they do well for me here and believe me their little roots are plenty cool and damp. I would think two gallon maybe?
