So I found this guy in my gazebo while packing it up for the winter. Captured him in a jar.

I have been googling with no luck whatsoever. By the shape and my limited research today, I assumed some sort of orb weaver spider maybe? Anyone?

Looks like Araneus diadematus (cross spider, European garden spider), a species that occurs on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
