SOLVED: Another mystery rose of sharon

West Babylon, NY(Zone 7a)

This one has flowers that barely open up, like 'Purpureus variegatus', except this shrub doesnt have the variegated leaves and is at least 18 years old, before 'Purpureus variegatus' was invented. Could this be it's ancestor? It so far has no seed pods, but I keep checking.
