I just purchased a new home and this tree is in the backyard. I am not sure if it is a variety of willow or not but to properly care for it I need to know. So if anyone out there can identify it I would be forever grateful.

Sure looks willow-ish.

Any chance of some additional (clear) pictures? Closeups of buds this time of year, and an image of the whole plant while dormant.

I looked again at the fuzzy images of those narrow leaves, and there are a disturbing number of them that appear to be oppositely arranged.

If so - then that's no willow.

Agreed.
(Hmmm, I seem to remember this one coming up previously... maybe it was also posted to a different DG forum?)
