We are closed to new participants. Continue chatting here as long as you like. Secret Santa names will be assigned soon! When you receive your goodies, post on our reveal thread found here:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1288519/

#####

Once again, the Holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time to spread Christmas Cheer to our fellow DG friends! When you sign-up, remember to list a few of your Favorite Things to give your Secret Buddy ideas. Also mention if you’re diabetic or are allergic to any particular foods or scents.

Since everyone’s talents and tastes are different, the Gifts you share may be handmade or purchased.

Our annual Christmas exchange is always a popular event. Let’s make this year’s the best one yet!

#####

Fine print…..

If you have not participated in a swap I’ve moderated, prior to posting, please D-mail your name, mailing address, phone number and email address for my log.

All participants need to ensure their subscription is paid through January 31, 2013.

Sign-Up ends midnight, Wednesday, November 21st, and you’ll receive your Buddy’s name shortly afterwards in a D-mail. Reveal your Secret Santa when you receive your package. All packages need to be Priority Mailed with a Delivery Confirmation number no later than the week of December 10th. If you’re mailing breakables, wrap them well in bubble wrap and insure the contents.
The value of the Gifts you send should be around $20, excluding Priority Mail with a Delivery Confirmation Number. Keep your receipt handy and D-mail the number you use to either me or deejay9 / Susie, depending on which one of us assigned your Buddy's name. To ensure privacy, please do not post tracking numbers directly on our threads.

Just noticed a lot of you have added a few of your favorite things along with a few that don't appeal to you. To make it easy for your buddy later on, individual links have been added to the second block at the top of the page next to each of our names.

If you decide to add or change your mind, please edit your original post. That way the link will remain the same. We already have 14 players, about half the number we've had in previous years and want to keep us organized as more folks join.

We have two Paula's. GAgirl, you know that's been my nickname for you for years and old habits are hard to change. To our Paula in Texas, do you have a nickname or would PaulaTX work? I knit too and adore hand made items. Never got the hang of crochet though. Who else here does handwork besides me, PaulaTX, LK, and Lanakila and what kind? The Rosary you made on another thread, Kim, was so pretty and delicate looking.

Evening everyone! Linda Kay, your afghan sounds wonderful and would love to see it when you're finished. That's a lot of tedious work. I love to knit but am not good at finish work like seaming and sewing pieces together. It's high time you made something for yourself. One of these days, happ, I'll be brave again and join the Black Friday crowds. It's sad how the retailers just blow by Thanksgiving. Christmas stuff has been up in Walmart for weeks. When I went to get new scarecrow people, the background music was Jingle Bells.

What a great list, Heather. Lucky you getting to put together gift baskets. Ya know what, we could use that idea one month for a swap. I've been looking online getting foodie ideas for baskets to make for our neighbors' Christmas presents. Wowser, some of the ones already put together don't have that many items and can get really pricey. I'll add your link. Glad to have you!

Patti, Here's a warm welcome for joining us and know the rest of our participants feel the same way. That's a mighty fine list. What size round tablecloth would that be? Chocolate and PEcans, both winners in my book. I never learned to tat but treasure one of my Aunt's shuttles and another Aunt was an avid crocheter. It sounds like you stay busy with all kinds of handwork. My late Mother made the most beautiful embroidery, especially framed pieces and pillows I still cherish, and she did a lot of candlewick and needlepoint. We still use the gingham Chicken Scratch pillow cases she made for us.

We get breakfast baskets from corporate that are $50. I just remade one using some slightly different product & knocked $20 off the price for another employee. :) I have a really hard time going over $20 with my baskets & I like them to look full. One of my favorite tings to do to make it fuller is to add small candies that we sell. All the $10 baskets I made this week are gone already so I need to make more this week. I can't believe the prices of some food baskets. I know a chunk of what you're paying is for the basket but still.

Hi Susan,
Thank you for the warm welcome. I love handcrafts, and the people behind them. The craft tells you something about the person who has made it. The time the patience that person puts into their craft. I have taught myself to crochet. I can make a mean granny square.LOL I want to learn how to crochet better, and to do tatting. I have tried tatting, and it's not so easy to teach yourself. I refuse to give up. I can embroidery. I like to embroidery after a long day at work. It helps me to wind down. My mother never had time for crafting. My influence in crafting was my mother-in-law Aka second mother. I buy embroidered pillowcases on Ebay. I now working on my first set.
My tablecloth I have on it is 60 inches in diameter. My next project will be attempting to making a crochet tablecloth. I admire anyone that is crafty.

That's good advice, Patti. We are on a slight hill with only a couple of areas that usually get standing water, and we have a well but no way to pump water if we lose electricity. I've filled every empty jug available and will buy flats of bottled water tomorrow. Bagged ice is on the list as well to use in a large cooler in case we need to offload from the refrigerator.

Wash out the bathtub really well, and fill with water. That'll be enough to cook with and to flush. I'm originally from Hawaii and our hurricane plan always included cooking a pot of rice too. Of course, we ate rice with every meal anyway :)

One time after a near miss on a tornado DH and I are sitting in a dark house when I looked outside and saw my solar path lights just a burning away...rofl. so out I went and the house was lit all night long, only bad thing is these didn't have switches to turn them off ... since then I replaced them I am very careful to select ones with switches and get the best light and the longest running. They have become a big part of my emergency kit.

Fingers crossed for you all so you don't lose power, and I feel for those guys who reconnect everyone. I know they get paid well but gosh those are some hard conditions to work in and so dangerous.

I'm in storm area but I have a divine peace and all will be well. Prayers have been sent up prior to this storm. We always loose lights because I live somewhat in the country. A little rain sometimes makes us loose power...So just in case I packed the kids up and went to my fathers house where the community has underground electricity...he he. Hopefully it will only be a few days...His house isn't child proof! ha ha

Hi all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one of my most favorite swaps and always look forward to it all year. However, I won't be able to participate, so I will live vicaiously through what you all get. Don't be surprized to find me lurking in a corner.

For those of you that know the story of my back, and I've been out of commission since August 20th when I pinched a nerve back there, my pain mgmt doc wanted to do an MRI so that was done Wednesday. I went in for my injection today and he told me that I have a herniated disk at L3-L4. That is the disk right at the top of my fusion of L4, L5 and S1. I had been told that was a possibility when I had my surgery done because it now takes all the weight of my spine. So, that is the culprit of my pinched nerve. It is sticking out there and has something in a bind. UGH! We are going to continue the injections as we have been and concentrate on that area. Hopefully we can avoid another surgery.

Thoughts and prayers being sent up to everyone in and near the path of the storm. You all do everything you can to stay safe and the rest will be taken care of for you.

Love you all,
Crit/Patti

Hey Patti...just a thought...I had problems with the same 3 and was told surgery...I decided to check out other possible alternatives and am SOOOO thankful I did... I was told by a friend to look into accupunture, I'm terrified of needles so was a bit hestitant...(phacet blocks (sp?), spinal taps and so many other things such as that over the years), anyway I went...and it was the best thing I ever did for my back...I'm glad I spent my own money for the procedures because it saved me and my back, the hardest thing was getting off all those pain pills which I did. Yes, it took months and several appointments but was sooo worth every penny I spent, years later I am thankful My friend referred me as the needles were not even noticable...(thanks Luanna, where ever you are!!)

Wants...hmmm...
Garden art is always loved, Chimes, statuary (fairies, gnomes, garden gods), signage
Loved baked goodies (no nuts tho), cookies, breads, fudge, DARK chocholate (including spiked)
Christmas ornaments (no cheapy plastic please)
Money...lol (hey come-on, my grandkids always ask...lol)
Fancy glassware, ie. vases (bud, taller than bud), cake plates, serving pieces But from goodwill, garage sales or such, just love it when you can find heiloom type items for only a couple of dollars.

No nos: clothing, nuts, garden gloves (sorry I like the full plastic dipped as they are tough for all my tough jobs (lol), no religious items, tho santas and Angels are great. NO lotions, perfumes or body sprays ( I am a true devotee of Beautiful by Este Lauder).
If I can think of anything else will update..Kathy

Back pain is a witch, and occasionally I still suffer with spasms, but usually feel them coming on and heed the warning. Twenty years ago I did the Chiro thing before having to have C 4-5-6 fused. That was long before the days cadaver bones were substituted like the surgery hubs had, or the newer medical alternatives currently offered today were ever imagined. Arthur set in about 10 years after my surgery, although I rarely complain about the tight rubber-band feeling between my shoulders, except to myself, and just keep plugging along and only take Aleve. It still bugs me not being able to turn my head from side-to-side very far without rotating the shoulders. What I do find wonderful and is beyond words are deep tissue massages that helps alleviate the pain for weeks. I've put a bug in hubs ear that I'd love to find a membership to a local spa in my Christmas stocking.

Fruity...the best massage I ever had (and I have had many from medical rehab people) was at the accupunturist office...Half the price of medical office type, deep tissue but extremly gentle...and it was from head to toe, and I'm talking scalp down to my toesies. Lol, gosh what a gift to have magical hands...

It makes you wonder how the people administering massages hold up all day. Magic fingers indeed.

One of my projects tomorrow is stringing tiny white Christmas lights on either side of our stairs. That area is like a black hole in good light and only gets worse as the days grow shorter.

My hubster just had a spinal stenosis in Sept. They used a cadaver bone in his neck when they did it. He's still in massive amounts of pain as that's not his only problem. He worked construction 25+ years & his body has really been abused. I'm going to look into accupuncture for him. Hopefully we can afford it. Anything to bring him some relief & hopefully get him off the 2 morphine & 6 percocet he takes every day. Yes every day. Sometimes i fear his doctors are killing him instead of helping him. If he's ever able to come off the meds he's going to have to go thru drug rehab.

Hope everyone is safe and sound from the storms, wowzer poor NY is a mess and that is alot of people.

I know this is a Christmas swap but it is almost halloween, a neighbor had about 50 chickens (we live way out) and she got some brazen coyotes that come in her yard and got about 35 of her chickens, then the other DAY not night they came up on her deck after a rooster. So tonight under a full moon, when it is dark and lite only by the moon, there will be the sound of coyote calling in the stillness, which will be another friend using a coyote call...rofl. I told her she better tell all her neighbors so they will know she will have her own werewolf tonight...rofl.

Anybody taking kids, grands, greats Trick-or-Treating? happ, I still think about that ghostly ghoul on stilts last year in the middle of the street.

Coyotes are bad here. Their call is so eery, somewhere between a screaming cat and a crying baby to my ears. Hubster regularly fills their butts with buckshot when they travel through our field, time of day, instead of just night, doesn't seem to matter anymore. A few weeks ago on one of Mickey's potty breaks very early evening, one came in the yard right behind our house and was just standing there, right next to our camper. I grabbed Mickey and ran inside.

Will add you next, Miss Elfie! Good to chat with you today.

Thanks for all the tips girls. Yes, I have tried accupuncture, about a year ago, after I'd already had my sugery in 2008. Made me feel better but didn't really eleviate the pain. i have been on percocet 10/325, up to 5x a day as needed. Today I only needed 3! YA!!!! I even vacuumed the house, but was very careful in doing so. Did it the way I learned in phys. ther. When I had my back surgery, I insisted on using my own bone shaved off my hip. I wasn't comfortable with the cadaver bones at that time. My hip bothered me for about 3 years, but doesn't bother me anymore. When I had C3,4 and 5 in my neck done, the doc talked me into cadaver bones and put a plate in my neck. My neck was so weak I felt like a bobble-head! I can't turn my head very far either way now, but at least it doesn't bother me, except for the occasional tightness across my shoulders.

I have not tried a chiropractor since I hurt my back. I asked my pain mgmt doctor if he was OK with them and he said yes, but couldn't recommend anyone to me. I need to get a personal referece from someone that has one they like. Just haven't been able to get one yet.

Well, HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone! I miss not seeing the kids all dressed up and coming to my door since we moved to the country! The first 2 years I had candy on hand, but then my neighbor told me in 11 years she had not had anyone come by. Oh well, I take my solitude over being in town.

So sorry about your neighbors chickens! I would just be sick! Coyotes are getting more and more brave as we invade their territories putting up construction, that they will go about anywhere, day or inght, in search of food if they are hungry.

G'night everyone. Have a good one!

My Mom used to make tons of it to sell for Christmas money and would start the process about this time of year when our PEcans fell and candied fruit was stocked at the grocery store.

Do some good today...well, I just ripped out two days worth of knitting. *deep sigh* Off to cook and hope I don't burn the house down (:

Weather must be nice...cause this room is pretty quiet...rofl...
We had an early lunch on Sunday in this little town about 30 minutes from us, they have great fried chicken with all the fixin's. You eat lunch there and then don't eat the again until Monday...rofl. Honest. But there are some really nice quilts all sizes, and other things pot holders and the like, but I have noticed they are all pretty masculine designs, the guys are also commenting about them, when normally they wouldn't notice at all. example one quilt was tractors, another had big block with an airplane, train and etc., then another had old trucks on it so my curiosity got peaked and I went to look closer. They are made by a Korean war vet that lives in the city...They are machine done but he does a good job. Korean war started in June 1950 so he would of been 18 at the youngest, so he would be in his 80's now probably. I know there are guys that quilt and knit and stuff, but I just thought it was kind of nice.

It was 34 degrees this AM when I got up, so we may have a little frost. There are still lots of leaves on the trees so that keeps things warmer. I guess it is time to get in my Cymbidiums. Getting a little frost helps them bloom better. But I may not get blooms anyway as I didn't water them regularly this summer.

Evening everyone!

Wow LK, this is one time our day temps were the same. That may never happen again...lol Isn't that still sorta high humidity? I've already been zapped several times from static electricity touching my car so ours can't be much.

happ, a commercial came on this morning that made me think of you. http://www.coupons.com/blackfriday
HA! Actually there are coupons there we can all probably use, not just Christmas stuff.

I decided to bring one of the monster EE's in and watch it grow over Winter. Named her Elly May (after you know who) and she is already unfurling a new leaf. Makes my day to round the corner upstairs and there she be, all ears.

Could all we Elves pass the word to others that we still have about 1-1/2 weeks to go before signups end midnight November 21st. Plenty of room and time for others to join the festivities.

Just heard a bang. Hubs or one of his buddies may have bagged another deer. We've been giving venison away on Craig's List. The response has been tremendous and have a waiting list.
Some neighbors just enjoy the meat while others really need it.

Hi, all.
Sure feels cold out there... Well, at least for our area. I really got use to those 70 and 80 degree temps... Makes 40's to 60's feel cold. But I must say, the sun feels really good when it's cold out :)
Still need to get my list together... Been busy here.

Hubs came in shortly after the bang yesterday to put his miner's light over his cap and went to help a neighbor retrieve a deer. It spooks me during hunting season when anybody is in the woods after twilight. We've even caught crazy people after dark spot-lighting on our property. Picture the size of a football field, that's basically the size of our back yard multiple times.

There's plenty of time to add your likes, Michelle. You've had enough going on upgrading your computer. The main thing is that hassle is behind you, and you're good to go, hopefully for a long time.

There's the *S* word already. Don't remind me later when it flies here that I'm sorta looking forward to it after our nil Winter last year. A blanket of a few inches makes a beautiful scene and covers up all the ugly stuff. If it's any deeper, I either turn into a hermit or leave the driving to Hubby. Can't say I didn't marry a Virginian for nothing...lol

Our Indian Summer has brought glorious days and am soaking up the Sun as long as possible. Thought about building a fire tonight, but our lows will only be in the 50's, so one is at the ready when we need it, possibly tomorrow night.

'Tis the Season.

Can I come and play in the snow with you all?

Craziness is finally behind me, my DD was married Sat. finally. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding, the temps were in the 70's but very windy.

I only have 2 more craft shows to do, the crafts for the one this Sat is almost. done. Then refil and make new for Dec. 3 show which is my big one for the year.

By the way I love snowpeople, dark chocolate and handmade gifts. I don't like anything pink, I'm allergic to oranges or anything that smells like oranges. I do need more leg warmers and those great aloe socks. I've about worn out all that I have.

It was too warm to see flakes today and had to do a double take. Then it dawned on me those were Pampas Grass seeds flying in the wind. I noticed today Walmart has a lot of fuzzy Holiday aloe-infused socks with the Christmas stuff. Didn't look in the clothing department since I just whizzed through for cat food.

Feeling much better today. How about you, Elfie?

Joy, He or she is adorable. Looks like you have another Champion to train. Have you decided on a name? Must hang a stocking on your mantle for Santa to add treats.
A few weeks ago our mail lady mentioned her merle Aussie Shepherds produced a litter of 7 this time, instead of 9 like last Spring, and these will be ready to sell around Christmas.

YUP...can't ship it, so I'll have to eat it myself!!!! (OK...I'll share with the gkids and others for Thanksgiving). Only make it for the holidays but it's soo yummy.

Hi, all.
I'm still here... Got busy learning how to use my new iPod Touch and learning to use some new software on my braille computer :)
I'll get my likes posted by Wednesday!
Hmmm, I see lots of games that you all have been playing :)
For the first one, words from Christmas, here are a few more: arch, his, hiss, rich, march, miss, misc, this, Chris, Cris :)
A gift that starts with a letter from Christmas? Hmmm, how about:
candy canes -- I love the chocolate mint ones :)
Gifts that can be made using letters in Christmas? Um, not sure if all the letters in the gift name need to be in "Christmas" or if it just needs to start with one of the letters, but how about:
Hot pads or trivets
OR
Stars -- Just one kind of ornament that one could make :)
Off to find my Christmas list :)
Take care, everyone!

The youngest are 16 and 19, so they get gift cards and that's all the shopping any of us do. Thank Goodness! Our kids range in age from 29 to 13 (1 girl and 4 boys) and 5 grandchildren(ages 9 to 8 months) (but live out of state-- boo hoo!--miss them terribly) and the last time we did the whole mad shopping day was to get light up yo-yos the boys just HAD to have!!! --Does anyone even have yo yos anymore??? or jump ropes or jacks & balls??? or marbles???? Why stand in line when it's easy to 'click' from the comfort of your own home! Plus, my Christmas shopping is already done, except food of course.

Last day to sign up! Susie, let's get our heads together Friday, after the big turkey day.

Everyone, We will assign names as soon as we can, might be over the week-end, as this will be a coordinated effort.

sbish...roflmao...one if us is CRAZY with a capital K, I wouldn't miss black Friday for the world...I love being out in the crowds, with the music, and people with bags, and trying to get a deal, my dear friend and I have done it every year for probably 20 years, stories we can tell...rofl. ;) I love the bell ringers and give to everyone of them and tell them thank you for doing it. I would love to get a group together to bell ring and sing music. There were 3 girls doing that one year and I loved it. We use to do the day after Christmas but I can't get off for that any more, but if the stores open early enough I go before work...rofl... What is really strange is the rest of the year I rarely shop except for the swaps here on DG...

Yay Happ! I thought I was going to be the only one..I love black Fridays. BUT, I do not stand in line!! I just like the deals. IF I go to Walmart...its usually later in the day, when all the crazies have got what they wanted. They said on the radio Monday, that some people were already camping out at some stores...that's insane!!

rofl...So glad I am not alone, it is you and me and a million other people...rofl. So look for me GAgirl, never know where we will show up...

We have a Nebraska Furniture Mart which is a zoo when it opens so like you we wait until about an hour before the specials go off and if you walk around the store you will find the items on sale laying everywhere...what I think happens is everyone grabs those items early because they are such a great deal and then decides later that maybe they don't need that or just got too much and they just sit it down just anywhere. Got my big screen tv like that at Walmart one year, it was on sale black Friday and you couldn't get near that are but someone must of grabbed it and then decided against it and sit it down in the garden area...well of course I am in the garden area...rofl.

I don't even mind standing in line. What we do is get in line and then one of us will shop for awhile and come back and then the other goes and shops for awhile...rofl. Now since everyone has cell phones that even takes the terror out of that...rofl. Nothing like showing up at the cash register with your stuff and my friends stuff with no friend...rofl.

One time at target the lines were sooooo long and nothing was moving and we started laughing saying ok register 1 3 and 5 you start out with Jingle Bells, then register 2 and 4 will jump in...well everyone started laughing and you should of seen the faces of the checkers when everyone started doing it...rofl. I never thought in a million years. We just have fun...course there are two places I refuse to go 1 is Toys R Us (they are nuts, never get between a parent and a toy for their child) and the 2nd is Best Buy (never get between the men and their toys...hummm think I see a common ground here :) Just gonna tell you guys but if you see something you want from Office Depot or places like that, almost all major downtown areas where all the offices are, no one shops there because they all live in the suburbs, so just go downtown which is empty and wallah. Now don't tell anyone...

sorry I am just rambling on and on...

Those fly-on-the wall trips were so funny! In my younger years, I really enjoyed Black Fridays and all the crowds, lines, deals, and company of friends and family. The older I am, the more crowds really get to me and enjoy alone time, which isn't too often unless you-know-who is hunting or I'm doing our regular shopping.

Turkey is baked, giblet gravy is made, deviled eggs are hidden in the back of the refrigerator, Winter greens are sauteed, bread is rising, cornbread dressing and mac n cheese are ready to stick in the oven late tomorrow morning along with a pan of sliced and diced butternut squash, carrots, onions, and turnips. Will finish cooking late tomorrow morning shooting for a 2ish lunch time. Neighbor lady stopped by with more turnips and a few apples. Looks like we'll have baked apples instead of an apple pie. Nobody will know the difference an hour after we eat anyway. Maybe I'll pull out a frozen Key Lime pie. Nice and tart after a heavy meal.

Everybody else getting ready to get ready?

Fruity, can you tell me how to make deviled eggs please? I don't eat egg's, but hubby loves them.
We are frying a turkey tomorrow. Mashed potato's and gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, cornbread dressing, dinner rolls, fresh veggie and pickle trays, apple, pecan and pumpkin pie.

Hope you all have a great dinner tomorrow.

Sent off a glazed ham with whole berry cranberry sauce, roasted chicken with pan gravy, stuffin' muffins, apple pie, key lime pie, and a cold cranberry relish with the hubs to a potluck Thanksgiving with friends this evening. I've caught the cold that is going around and so I decided to stay home. I know that he'll bring home leftovers for me, but I hope that I can taste again before they go bad.

Both those meals sound delish! Lanakila, feel better soon. It's the pits being sick any time but especially during the Holidays. Stuffin' muffins presumably are made in tins? Never have thought to do that but would be really handy for individual portions or sharing with others.

LK, I'll trade you my Deviled Egg recipe for a piece of PEcan pie!
Growing up in SC, this is how my late Mother made her Deviled Eggs and is mainly how I still make ours. You can tweak the ingredients to how you think your family would like them.

From 10 boiled eggs (20 halves), I usually end up with 12 deviled eggs and enough egg salad left for two sandwiches.
Just depends on how high the halves are stuffed and how many torn or thin whites I end up with.
I also cut the eggs lengthwise. Seems to work better than slicing them across the middle like my Mother did and I did for many years.

In a mixing bowl, save all the yokes and any whites that are torn or are too thin to stuff.
Add equal parts of sweet cubed pickle relish, mayonnaise and yellow mustard (we prefer plain old French’s).
My ‘parts’ with 10 boiled eggs usually ends up being about 2 Tablespoons of each.
You could add more or less, depending on taste preference and whether you are going for a thick or a thin consistency.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. I also add about a 1/4 teaspoon of celery seeds. A Tablespoon or so of finely diced celery would work instead for a bit of crunch. My Mother added finely diced onions and I would too except hubs doesn’t eat raw onions

Using a serving fork, mash the ingredients to the consistency you prefer, chunky or smooth.

Stuff halved whites with the egg salad.

Traditional Southern deviled eggs are finished with a sprinkling of Paprika. In Texas you might like to substitute using a dusting of Cayenne Pepper.

It would be interesting to hear how you make yours, Carey and Joy, since you're in LK's neck of the woods.

I make mine the same way but here lately Ive been using Sickles in mine. Not sure the distribution of them but they are a sweet pickle with hot peppers in them and they really make the eggs taste good. Should be Wickles but it kept changing it.

Hi, all.
Here's my likes and dislikes...
Love homemade goodies, but please, no alcoholic beverages, hot spices, or olives.
Love chocolate (milk or dark), but not a big fan of white chocolate.
Crocheted hot pads/potholders (cotton, not synthetic).
Sweatshirts/sweaters (large, no hoods).
My husband and I have been exchanging ornaments since before we were married. We began by exchanging wooden ornaments, but nice three-dimensional wooden ornaments became hard to find. So we've had to expand our collection to those made of other materials. Since I'm blind, I especially like ornaments that are three-dimensional that I can identify by feel rather than the flat ones with pictures. We've found some really neat ones over the years :)
I do container gardening, focusing on fragrant flowers, especially ones I can use as cut flowers. I also grow amaryllises (fragrant or ones with interesting colors).
I also enjoy crocheting, cooking, baking, and reading (audio books, iBooks, sometimes braille). And I love listening to the sounds of nature (such as birds, streams, ocean waves).
Favorite colors: like them all, but especially purples, greens, and blues.

I buy for Christmas for my whole family all year long, heck there isn't any way I could do it otherwise, and now that I have this DG family and I have a good idea what swaps are coming up, I bargain hunt and coupon hunt all year long...rofl. Buy spring stuff in December and cold stuff in March...rofl and plants mostly come out of the garden or are purchased big enough to split. Course sometimes I will get that buddy that I am not sure will like what I put back and will find something else...rofl.

Went to bed way too early last night and walla I am up way too early...rofl.
