As usual, the Calendar I always put first in the thread is the Farmer's Almanac because some people follows it, then I continue with the one I use, the Biodynamic system.

One of the element in Biodynamic, is the planting calendar, which has to do with the cosmic timing of activities in the garden, much of the timing for work to be carried out according to the biodynamic system is to do with the movement of the moon through the Zodiac.


Farmers' Almanac November 2012


1st-2nd Any Seed Planted Now Will Rot.

3rd-4th Best Planting For Fall Potatoes, Turnips, Onions, Carrots, Beets And Other Root Crops, Where The Climate Is Suitable. Plant Seedbeds And Flowers. Good Days For Transplanting.

5th-9th Plant Root Crops. Fine For Sowing Grains, Hay, And Forage Crops. Plant Flowers.

10th-11th First Day Good For Carrots, Beets, Onions, Turnips, Irish Potatoes And Other Root Crops, In The South. Also Good For Leafy Vegetables. Good Day For Transplanting. Last Two Days For Cabbage, Celery, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts, Collards, And Other Vegetables. All Days Good To Start Seedbeds.

12th-14th First Day Good For Carrots, Beets, Onions, Turnips, Irish Potatoes And Other Root Crops, In The South. Also Good For Leafy Vegetables. Good Day For Transplanting. Last Two Days For Cabbage, Celery, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts, Collards, And Other Vegetables. All Days Good To Start Seedbeds.

15th-16th Poor Planting Days.

17th-19th Good Days For Planting Peas, Squash, Corn, Tomatoes And Aboveground Crops, In Southern Florida, Texas, And California.

20th-21st Kill Plant Pests On These Barren Days.

22nd-24th Plant Aboveground Crops. Extra Good For Vine Crops, Where Climate Allows.

25th-26th Neither Plant Nor Sow On These Barren Days.

27th-28th First Day Good For Beans, Peppers, Cucumbers, Melons And Other Aboveground Crops, Where Climate Is Suitable. Last Day For Root Crops, Where Climate Permits, And For Transplanting.

29th-30th Any Seed Planted Now Will Rot.




Biodynamic Moon Zodiac Calendar

November 1st - 2

Root day
Sign Taurus
Moon Waning gibbous


Synodic:
Sow root vegetables, berries, bulbs, onions, biennials, and perennials.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Taurus: Earth sign. Sow Root plants. Do not sow Flower plants .

Sidereal:
Moon in Taurus: Sow Root vegetable crops especially when hardiness in drought conditions is needed.

Moon in Gemini: Air sign. Sow Flowering plants. Do not sow Root plants like carrot.

Sidereal:
Moon in Gemini: Barren and dry, and yet good for promoting flower growth.

Moon Last quarter

Synodic:
Garden maintenance, weed and harvest. Also work on the compost heap.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Cancer: Water sign. Sow undercover Leaf plants Cabbage, Coriander, Cress, Fennel, Kale, winter Lettuce, Salad Endive, Mint, Parsley, Spinach.
These Oriental and Chinese vegetables are more resistant to cold weather, you can sow : Pak Choi, Mizuna, Mustard or Japanese Spinach Leaves, Mustard Greens, Chinese Cabbage any variety. Salad burnet, Sanguisorba officinalis, is another green that can be grow in a cold frame in winter.
Do not sow Fruit plants.

Sidereal:
Moon in Cancer: This is a good time for germination
Sidereal for November 7:
Moon in Leo: Dry and barren. Garden maintenance.
