I have another approach - I was given a large pot with several bulbs in it!! My friend had been growing them in the pot for years, so I adopted her idea. I now have two large pots of bulbs drying on the porch and when the leaves finally die, off will take them to the cold room for the winter. The advice I was given was to stop watering them in August so they would dry down earlier, but of course I always forget that and start to dry the in late September. I have been leaving them in the same pot until the leaves start to grow (usually in March or April) and then I can get them outside. This year I had a total of 43 blooms!! Every four years I repot with good soil and lots of my own compost.
