Somehow, although I may be wrong, the plant does not remind me of Euphorbia, especially E. davidii n which leaves are all opposite and base of leaf is usually pale.

I was totally guessing on this one. I am still searching for it because i want to know too.

You display a great botanical knowledge and I am so far behind, almost like a thousand miles.(nearly put me to shame!)

No vngarden your knowledge especially of culivated plants is far ahead of mine. There was a time I would take no interest in cultivated plants, would just concentrate on wild plants of Himalayas, and some cultivated trees and shrubs (http://www.indianforester.co.in/index.php/indianforester/art...)
only in last 4-5 yearly and mainly after retirement in 2010 I have started taking some interest in cultivated plants, more so after I am on a five month visit to California (Sunnyvale). I have many plants from here that would need your expertise.

I am very much into flower photography. If you have flowers or plants that I already photographed, there is a good chance I know what they are. We are here to learn from each other.
