My husband just told me that he's read about new services renting live Christmas trees in pots for the holiday season. Once the potted plants are too large for the average home, they are planted outdoors. What a neat idea! I love the idea of a live, potted tree, but have no room in my yard to plant them after the holidays are over. I also know it can be difficult to acclimate the plants to the winter temps outdoors after their timespan indoors, and mid-winter isn't the ideal time for establishing a tree outdoors in many zones. I'm sure it isn't cheap, but it addresses the conflicts many have with cutting a tree down for such a short period of time for decoration, while still allowing for the use of a real tree.
