    Thanks Rlalique
The closest matches are C. griseus and C. impressus. The leaf size I thought was around 1 cm or so. Any clue for species?

    Thanks Rlalique
I just ran through Japson online manual
Three things support C. impressus: thick leaves with revolute margin, clearly single midvein, furrowed along side veins on upper surface and glandular margin

In C. foliosus leaves are thinner, flatter, without revolute margin, they are rather longitudinally folded upward.

To me, it reminds me of Ceanothus 'Dark Star' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55315/ on the foliage but the buds look a bit different.
