    This tropical plant is low growing
    Has pleated foliage. It looks very much like Chinese ground orchid
    Flowers are white
    Bulbs are purple, can be boiled as a herbal drink

    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

    Are you sure it's just not a white bletilla orchid? Really looks like one to me.

    Well, I agree with both of you. It also reminds me of spent Tigridia I have grown. Jenlee, why do you say this plant is tropical? Is it not growing in TN?

    I took this pic while on vacation to the tropics and was told it is a herb.

    The blades/leaves look like those of my ground orchid.

    The leaves strongly resemble both Babiana and Bletilla...which makes clear closeups of the flower important for a more precise ID as Growin suggested
