For the past week or so we've been seeing this bug in large numbers around our area. They are coming inside whatever way they can, presumably due to the hot weather (~40C +). What is it?

We live in Melbourne, Australia.

Looks like a plague soldier beetle - http://csironewsblog.com/2012/11/08/insect-of-the-week-the-plague-soldier-beetle-isnt-nearly-as-bad-as-it-sounds/
