This plant is coming up in a friends shade garden. She moved into the house 6 months ago and isn't a gardener, so I'm trying to figure out what it is for her.
It seems to be in a loose clump, but not bulbs. The stem is red.

Yea!!!! That's it!
No wonder I didn't recognize it. I have no "moist, shady" areas in my gardens!
