There are many different chemical 'salts'; this article was dealing with sodium chloride (NaCl) commonly found in our oceans and on our tables. Epsom Salt - magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) has two macronutrients - magnesium and sulfur, which may have been lacking in your soil and would have benefited your garden by adding them. And then again maybe it was the H2O used to add the Epsom Salt, or even the added TLC. Gratz on a nice crop.
