medicating Basil

Medina, OH

Vet gave me some powdered Bute. Basil not interested. I have tried to dissolve it is molasses and mix it with his sweet feed.
Not working too well. He fights the syringe, so do you ladies have any other ideas? Am getting over pneumonia, so nothing
too athletic, please. Thanks!

By the by...applesauce and raspberry syrup have been suggested by friends.
What say you all?

If you want him to eat it in his feed, what sometimes works is to coat it in oil. It makes it hard to taste or smell. First I would make sure he will accept the oil. I use canola but many people think corn oil is tastier to horses. Use just enough to "seal" the surface of the powder.

Will try it. Thanks PP.

I have never used powdered Bute so I have no idea. I use Bute paste. It is quick and easy. Good luck. Hope you mend quick too. What is Basil's problem?
