Good morning... We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1295224/#new

I saw we were getting pretty high on posts so started a new thread.

Come on in, sit and chat. Tell us about yourself, your dog...your cat.

Bring some coffee, or some tea...don't forget a snack for your fur-baby!

Yeah...I was up all night, rhyming is done! lol

Morning!

Where is the time going I swear it is going faster and faster!

Don't have much time right now. Dishes to do again. Laundry to finish. So won't be able to reply to all of yesterdays. Just know I agreed, sent hugs and cried or laughed with you. Might not do much better tomorrow. We will have to do the banking and shopping. I work Monday as it is inventory and the Manager has a meeting to go to. Have Tuesday off and work the rest of the week. Not happy with it but it is the way it is.

Will try ti get back today.

Sorry Deb breakfast was just a bowl of cereal!

Vicki, better than at my house, just coffee here!

Finished the vacuuming, took the garbage out to the road for collection today, and just now had a nice shower, washing my hair, shaving legs, etc. I call that the works.

Have the front door open and the sun is really pouring in. Mr. B is laying in the sunshine, happy as a lark.

DGD called and since we both have snow and she is not experienced in driving in it, she said that her DM was urging her not to come down this weekend. I agree, but think the roads should be clear early afternoon. She lives on a little side road, and she was worried about that. Won't interfere with DM's suggestion though.

BonnieB if she takes it slow and easy she should be okay on that side road. But she'll do what she is most comfy with.

Sun is shining here but it is not warming it up any.

Dishes done. Need to wash down counter tops and stove and table. Then on to the laundry.

My office assistants have been quite restless lately. Pixel just has not been of any help lately. Truffles came in after a long lunch and is doing some paperwork on my desk. :-)

Thanks for the new thread Debbie!

I made it through a whole day of work. I almost called in again. It was such an effort to get ready to go out. i'm so pooped. It is so cold out there today and we got a dusting of snow. I had over 2000 emails and 70 voice mails. I haven't called anyone back yet. I think the antibiotic started working last night.

My wrist/hand is still really painful. Got very painful with all the emails and writing today. I wonder when I will be able to knit. I'm guessing I will need to see a specialist.

I guess I will make a little dinner and recline.

Diesel is really subdued tonight. He keeps going into the bedroom to look then paw at Quill's quilt. I am not sure if he is just sensing my emotional state or what. I actually think he knows she is not coming home. Maybe I am reading something into his actions but I don't think so. Cats are clingy but again I don't know if that is because they sense my emotional state or because the winds are picking up again.

Do hope your meds are working for you Elsie. How many sick days do you have left?

Oh Debbie that soup sounds delicious. Think I will make Cream of Cauliflower or maybe Mushroom tomorrow... sounds like it is going to be that kind of day.

Managed to drop a fair sized log on the top of my right foot this afternoon. The log popped out of my hand and went directly down to my foot.Of course my feet were very cold so it hurt more than it usually would. Quite the bruise starting there and some swelling. Diesel is trying his best to get at my foot to lick it but it hurts for him to even breathe on it right now.

Going to check out the recliner ... I am almost afraid to sit in it because I think I will fall asleep immediately.

When is it Andre comes home Sandy?

Dianne, I think your feelings regarding Diesel and the cats are spot on. They know and can sense, and I think Diesel really knows. He has been so
cautious with her most of the time. It is just natures way of helping them cope...and you too.

I have never had cauliflower soup but that does sound good.

Flight chart shows DH's plane has left Jersey and is in the air. After DS being home most all day he said "Dads coming home tonight?" and guess what...
he isn't here again. I think he knows my love...even though I am totally ticked at him...is unconditional. He does not know that or feel that with his dad...and
see's how his grandmother treats others. He is waiting for DH to "cut him out of the picture" and has even asked if Grandma cut his picture out yet. SAD!!!

Dianne - so sad to hear you had to say goodbye to Quill. I'm sure you were very distracted and that's why you dropped the wood. Now falling asleep is not a bad thing dear. You need rest more than just about anything.

Loretta - sorry it was a rough day back. My mom had to give up knitting for a few years due to problems with her wrists. She primarily does machine knitting these days. I hope it doesn't come to that for you 'cause those machines are way more complex than I could deal with!

Debbie - I hope your son figures out that the best way to deal with issues is not to avoid them. I would not want to be his age again for anything.

Good evening.

Dianne, I am just sitting here crying my eyes out. I have never lost a pet that I am/was so close to, so just dreading the day that it happens here. When I fall in love with a pet, they get my whole heart, and I am sure that I will just be devastated. Sending you big hugs, and a shoulder that can withstand days of crying.

Elsie, it sounds like carpel tunnel, and if so, a brace helps, but my chiropractor helped me with that issue several years ago. I have a friend who had the surgery, and it worked for about a year, and she is now having issues with it again. I am glad that the antibiotics are beginning to work, and with the weekend, I am hoping that by Monday you are almost good as new. We need to start a club for the "old folks who don't drive after dark club". I could be a charter member!

Debbie, isn't it so sad that the DS feels that way. I could tell you tons of stories about my DH and DS and the criticism and never a kind word to him, but to his nieces and nephews, yep, jolly and cheerful, loans money, but with their own, I guess it is high expectations and disappointment that rules.

Melva, guess you thought your vision had really changed over night. I have never made that mistake. I take my glasses off and put them in the same place every night. If I didn't it would be a very blury hunt to try to find them.

Went out to eat tonight, but lately, every time I eat, I get so bloated that I am miserable, even if I only eat a small amount. Might be working on an ulcer with all the confusion and turmoil swirling around caused by DH's family.

Well, more snow predicted for overnight and early tomorrow. I really need to go out to town, but will wait to see what the conditions are.

I have never tried cheese and cauliflower soup...it sounds good. I may do it soon. I have a turkey breast I need to cook tomorow. I have felt 'off' today, not sick but, different. Think I may go to bed early tonight.
I got an order of plants yesterday..mainly salvias and one butterfly bush...I need to repot them and get them out of the tiny pots they came in. and I need to plant the rest of the onions.

Good morning! I'm up very early today, but maybe because I went to bed early last night. I have been doing this very often lately when I have my days off, even if I would like to stay late and maybe watch a movie. I wish I could go to bed early like that during the week, when I'm working, but somehow sleep doesn't come that easy...I think I'm more relaxed when I'm at home and that might be the reason. I did nothing but rest yesterday...and cooked also. I got a huge turkey on Friday from some neighbors in our vilage. They have a farm and grow lots of chickens , hens, turkeys and pigs. It's convenient to buy meat and eggs from them because they are good products, with no chemicals in it and they let us pay on the paycheck day.The turkey has 24lbs and it was still warm when we took him. I've butchered him and put the packages in the freezer. I cooked yesterday a leg and a thy which I roasted in the oven and I also made a sour soup with a part the back. Both were delicious!

Dianne, I'm so sorry that our Quill past away...we will miss her so much here! Sending you hugs and prayers, sweetie. I'm so glad you have Diesel to take care of you! Take care with the leg...I hope you put ice on it. Hugs and love!

Debbie, thanks for the new thread and the gorgeous picture of our Izzy! I know what you mean, my DS also takes me for granted...he knows my love is unconditional and his Dad is like Paul...conclusion is that we are suffering more! Glad to hear the wind isn't blowing so hard. Sending you hugs.

BonnieB, I hope it's not ulcer that's causing you such distress with your stomach. Is this happening when you're eating the food you cooked too?

Sandy, I'm with Debbie. Try and stay still. Did you find a book to read? Maybe you can watch a movie too. Many hugs!

Elsie, good to hear the antibiotics are kicking in. I hope you can feel better soon. Good thinking, go to the doctor with the hand.

Tam, sounds like it will take a lot of time for remodelling your kitchen, but I'm sure it'll be great. I had to google "galley kitchen" and see what that is...now I know, I always had a galley kitchen!LOL The one I have now I almost the same, except for a turn...you might call it an L kitchen. Anyways, I never had so many cabinets, on both walls - only on one wall. More cabinets is awsome!

Melva, already planting onions? I might do that soon too if the weather is still warm. Now I need to learn more about trimming the trees and do that myself.

Vicki, I hope you have an easy shift at work. Try to not work so hard. And slow down a bit, you're making me dizzy!LOL

I've been alone until a few minutes ago when my DS got up too. He is working second shift today. He came to take his coffee.. I made it and had mine an hour ago while I was reading your posts. Time to take another cup!
Clear sky and buds on the cherry tree. A tomato soup with dumplings I cooked 2 days ago, for whoever needs it. And a small nasturtium salad. I had them growing in a pot and they were getting too leggy, so I decided to pull them out and make a salad with the leaves.

Good Morning

Adina - I think its so interesting that you would make a salad of nasturtium leaves. I've eaten the flowers in salads but hadn't realized you would eat the leaves too. THose are lovely photos! Nothing beats a blue sky to pick up the mood.

I finally took care of some bills this morning. Got up early worrying about how much stuff I need to get done. We're visiting the cabinet maker this morning and then I need to focus on the flower show this afternoon. I've got bulbs in cold places to force and its time to pull them out and get them warmed up and going. And lots of materials to write up & send out for review as well as volunteer sheets to put together, distribute and post on our website.

Its cold today. We're keeping the barn shut up an extra few hours so it stays warmer. The chicks are all doing well. They will be wanting out of the box soon. Mom is getting out of the box and the chicks are flying up in the air a few inches when riled. So it will be soon and I hope they will be ok in the cold. I guess with the heat lamp set up and mom to crawl under they will be fine either way.

Good morning, snow is falling here also. Don't know when it started but they are predicting snow until late afternoon. It is still okay, so I need to run to town, so will get that done, then won't care if we are snowed in.

Adina, your pictures are so pretty. I bet that turkey did taste really good. Glad that you froze it so that you can enjoy more of it later. Yes, seems like when I even eat my own cooking, I am having stomach issues. I am hoping it is just stress, and that it will go away when things calm down around here. DH is helping his nieces with his DB's estate, and it seems that he gets stressed, and then passes it along to me.

Dianne, I didn't comment on your foot, but I sure hope that it is feeling much better this morning. Diesel just wanted to make his mamma feel better by wanting to lick your foot. Good boy.

Vicki, hope your day goes well.

Tammy, wow, you have a very full day. Hope that you get other ideas for the kitchen while out and about. If I were closer I would volunteer to help with some of your work with the flower show.

Elsie hope you are feeling much better when you wake this morning.

Melva, get the right glasses this morning!

Sandy, even if you are up doing nothing, it is better than being down with plenty of reading and stuff to occupy you. Just nature's way of making us get up and move.

Debbie, happy Super Bowl shopping. We are not doing a thing for it, no guests, so no special foods.

Well, need to get started as the snow keeps falling and it won't be getting any better driving weather with me sitting here.

Well that couch is out. The leather is not very thick. I don't think it would stand up to Ty's claws. But it is a good idea and I think I will do some more looking. We checked out Tv's and I think we found one we could maybe agree on. I don't like how they blur when the picture changes? It seems to be normal as they had all the tv's on and some were worse then others. No hurry to make a decision on that.

It has been snowing here all day. The church where I was supposed to preach tomorrow called this morning and they cancelled services for tomorrow. We have also cancelled services. I have been cooking all day. Tomorrow's meal and then something for supper tonight.

Well, we ate early, not because we were hungry, just out of boredom! Spaghetti and it was really good. Used my roasted tomato sauce, with meat, and it was super.

Elsie, I have had carpel tunnel, and it is painful. Had tennis elbow, and that is more painful. However, it could be tennis elbow, but in the wrist. Heard of it. One time I had tennis elbow, actually in my elbow, and they tried braces, slings, etc. It was my left arm and I was convinced that I really wasn't using it all that much. But when several things didn't work, the Dr said either surgery of put me in a cast for 6 weeks. He put on a cast then cut it into and wrapped it with an elastic bandage. I could take it off to shower, but then had to put it right back on. Surprise in 6 weeks, my elbow was healed. So in saying that, I say you use it more than what you think you do.

Tammy, hope the custom cabinets aren't so expensive so that you can get them. I know what features I would get if I were getting new cabinets. They would have pull out shelves, and I would have a cabinet for spices. I am sure that this is probably my last cabinet/kitchen so no hope of getting that. I always have a couple of sermons on hand, so that in the event I am called to preach somewhere, I have something already prepared.

Debbie, hope the store didn't swallow you whole when you went in to shop for the super bowl! I am anxious for a report on the collars for the kiddens.

Sandy, how are you doing today? Hope that you are beginning to move around more as the Dr wanted. Are you going to have to have physical therapy? I bet you are missing Andre.

Vicki, so what was work like today? Do you find that the weather has a lot to do with how busy you are? Today here it was bad, and I am wondering how many people decided they needed to go out fo something.

Melva, what is your weather like?

Dianne, hope your foot is feeling better. Did you borrow Sandy's bags of peas to ice it? How is Mr. Diesel doing today?

Well, DH has had the tv on basketball all afternoon and night. I sure do not enjoy it, and have gone to the bedroom several times to turn on tv and watch a part of a program, but otherwise have been sitting in the family room reading.

I have saved some organizing jobs to do tomorrow so that I won't be bored out of my skull. I was going to give a bunch of "thank you" notes to a woman at church to do, as she has beautiful handwriting, but since we are not having church, and she lives about 20 miles away, I will get them in the mail this week. May go with DH tomorrow afternoon to his "other" church, the one that he has family ties to and only meets twice a month. Will be odd not going to our church, so will substitute his for my weekly worship experience.

I am struggling, be patient...that boy did it to me again. There is no longer trust...and lets just say if he gets home safe, I am going to tear him apart.

Did pretty good at the store...even with DH's assistance.

French bread, going to slice across, line sheet with them and spread pizza sauce, veggies, pepperoni and cheese and bake.

DH's favorite cocktail wieners in BBq sauce

Meatballs which are "stuffed" inside of biscuits and baked so they form around the meatball. First with these, hope they turn out!

Chips & Salsa, cheese tray, crackers and all that.

OH and quesadillia turkey & cheese or ham & cheese.

Carrie is bringing a broccoli & chicken salad or bruschetta (Sp?)

Margarita is just leaving having arrived at 2:00PM today. Six hours to go through the kitchen and one cabinet under the TV in the living room.

Dianne how is your foot? Do you think it is broken? How is Diesel tonight? I know you see Quill at every turn. Holding you close.

Elsie you have had a long run of feeling poorly lately. It sure is a bummer. Seems like you are just about to get over one thing and another thing pops up to keep you in pain. Wish you could feel better fast.

Terese welcome back to NSB. Did the rest of the group cruise with you or will they join you now that you are back?

Tam what did you find out at the cabinet place today. Are you and loser to making a decision? How are the baby chicks?

Sandy is the tooth any better today?

My house is a wreck. I have to throw some clothes into my large suitcase tonight.. The 22 inch is filled with "stuff" I have to take back to FL with me. Not much room for clothes in there. Margarita is coming back on Monday to put "keep stuff" away and clean the house. Thank goodness!

I have to go, I am famished. Haven't had a bite to eat since 10:30 this morning.

Terese, love that photo!

BonnieB, I wish I would clean and organize when I was bored. You are so correct about overuse injuries. I used to work for a large insurance co. I ended up doing the same thing day after day and within 6 months I had several repetative injuries. I have had the tendon released in my elbow also. When it come to this stuff I have been through it all. I have been diagnosed with tennis and golf elbow. I made a huge mistake yesterday - I wrote down all 70 voice mails. It was way too much for my poor hand. I didn't call any of them back. I'm not looking forward to Monday.

Tammy, I hope you can get your custom cabinets. This Old House is just finishing an old house with a Danish Modern inside. The kitchen has an 11 foot island with the sink in it. I assume the dishwasher and oven in it too. Underneath one cabinet is what looks is another drawer. I was thinking it was a cookie sheet drawer. It was a step stool that folds up and rolls under the cabinet.

With the help of customer service at the vaporizer company I was able to get it working again. That is a very good thing since they are rather pricy these days. What a difference on how I feel in the morning. I am still icing my hand and keeping it in the splint.

Oh, I forgot to tell you the most incredible thing that happened to Judy yesterday. First a little background. Judy's husband died five month's after my husband. He had a chair that belonged to his grandmother - a pretty little Victorian thing that sits low to the ground. Judy offered the chair to me several years ago as a token of our friendship. It sits in front of the windows overlooking the ocean in my Shores bedroom.

Yesterday Judy was in Hobby Lobby. A stranger came up to her and said she was a Medium. She asked Judy if her husband had passed and told Judy he was right behind her and wanted her to know he was pleased with what she was doing and that he had her back. Then the Medium said, "His chair, his chair. He is talking about his chair. He wants you to know he is happy with the person you gave it to because she is so kind to you." CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????

Good Morning!

BonnieB - sounds like a good week to go to your DH' family church since yours is not having services. Anytime you want, you can visit here to organize. You won't be bored. :-)

Bonnie - you've made great progress on the job there, had some treasured finds and cemented your friendships. I'd say it was time well spent & a successful trip. Safe travels.

Loretta - So glad you got that vaporizer going! I am a big believer in them. I had a full house humidifier at my last house and it was heavenly. With radiant heat, you can't do that though thankfully not as necessary as with forced hot air. I hope everything feels better today. I am a huge This Old House fan too. And I like Danish Modern style. The cabinets I've selected are a shaker style door but in a European style arrangement. I'll see if I can find a photo to share.

Terese - thanks for the photo! So glad you are enjoying that trip.

Debbie - that's quite a spread! We're going to a friends' house (actually, a man who worked for me for many years - he was in my first group in 1996 and my last in 2009). I'm bringing hummus & pitas (that I need to make!) I suspect your DS is going to go through a number of ups & downs before he settles out. Sorry you are on one of the down cycles!

Sandy - hope the laptop starts behaving. Better that than your tooth to be having problems though.

Dianne - I too am wondering how that foot is doing! And how the get-together went yesterday.

Cabinet report: I have 3 options being priced. 2 are "semi-custom" and look to be excellent quality. We went back to look again at the first place and I am quite comfortable they are very well made - full wood interior w/dove tailed joints, full extension "whisper glide" undermount rails, good finishes, solid wood or plywood w/solid wood mix on faces (solid is actually not as good due to warping). The custom would be wonderful 'cause it'd be paying a local man & his men & we'd get exactly what we want. So I need to get the pricing back but we've decided we'll go custom if its withing 30% of the others.

Chick report: The little ones are flying around the box, a couple inches off the ground when I disturb them to put water or food in the box. Mom is fiercely protective - she takes a peck at me every time I do replace food or water. They look quite healthy.

Good morning,

We had...and are still having...one of those big fluffy snow falls that just looks beautiful on the trees. I would love to go out and take pictures, but...it is 18!

Not much sleep last night and I messed up my "bad" shoulder playing jolly ball with Miss Izzy. I should have just laid in the snow to apply ice! lol

The collar is doing wonders for the boys, however, I do not think it is having much effect on Daisy May. Will see how she does today, but...I am really impressed
with the turn around in the boys behavior.

I have a lot of cleaning to do, floors to mop...before I even start cooking. So waving "hello and good morning" to all...and will be back.

Good morning, yep, it is me, you are not used to seeing me here on Sunday morning. Have had a leisurely morning drinking coffee and reading the paper. I have had a shower and now will turn my attention to finishing up dinner that is partially prepared.

Elsie, oh, wow you have had the run of the wrist/arm problems. I played softball for years and never had an injury but just as soon as I told myself I was too old for that, I started having problems. Never was tempted to go back, but didn't think it was fair that I was in harm's way for years and then when I quit is when things started falling apart.

Debbie, just hang on sweetie. One day, hopefully in the near future you will have a DS who has gone through all the growing up stages and will become a fine man. I know waiting can be so hard, but it usually is worth it. If I were closer I would come help whip your house into shape WHILE you cooked! Enjoy your day.

Tammy, that is sort of style of my cabinets, but I opted to go without any hardware. It looks like Shaker style, and as an added bonus, no having to clean around the hardware which is a place that gets dirty due to trying to open them with messy hands (while cooking). It does save a lot of cleaning. Some may think it too plain, but that is why we are all made differently.

Bonnie, goose bumps here too. I certainly believe in spirits, and matter of fact, I wish I had one right here now to help me with some personal issues. They claim that their vision is not impaired by human relationships or feelings, and are trustworthy. After all, the medium said her DH approved of giving you the chair because you are a nice person, now that is right on! Bet you will be glad to be back in Florida and hope that rest and relaxation is your main agenda for the next few days.

Debbie, I would rather have a wacky laptop than a tooth or knee. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and soon you will come out on the other side of this experience, and it will memories from that point on.

Terese, beautiful picture. I was looking for a ship (poor eyesight you know) when it dawned on me that you were on that ship. Duh. Well, anyway beautiful.

Dianne, I am hoping that you are doing better today both physically (the foot) and emotionally (your heart). Of the two injuries, the latter is the most severe. But within days you will be recalling moments with your girl that will make you smile. That is what memories are for to comfort and cheer you.

Melva, it is way too long for your ears to be plugged up. There is a sinus or cold that is brewing, and you need to get yourself to a Dr and let him have a look see, and prescribed meds, if necessary. Could be something as simple as flushing out the wax. (That's not painful at all.)

Well, need to get started moving around. Think I will clean/organize one kitchen cabinet while I am working on dinner.

I wanted to post this http://pinterest.com/pin/264938390551228625/ it came up on a pintrest page, and I thought it was cool.

I have never seen such great animal pictures in my life, than I find on pintrest. Dont know why I seemed the last to know about it. They had the link to some Coalition to Unchain dogs videos, I had never heard of that either, but have shed alot of tears watching them. I cant listen to the music with them tho.
http://www.unchaindogs.net/ There is just one video on this link, but many more on You Tube. Pet people are the best!!! People who chain dogs...well :-X

Just got back in from a very long walk with Steve and Thor accompanying Diesel and I. Proud to say Diesel and I walked those 2 guys into the ground. lol Steve has a job that is very physical but really no cardio involved. At 1 point he gasped "are we almost done?". He was joking but now he realizes how many miles Diesel and I cover every day. Gorgeous out, some snow falling and the temp is not bitter cold.

Exciting times Tam for you and Gary! Do you have a tentative timeline for the construction?

Foot is still quite colourful and swollen but I don't think anything is broken. Had to wear a pair of boots that I keep around that are a size larger than I usually wear. Not the first time I have need that extra room!

Loretta - I went back to add where to find the one I liked. Its on the craftsman selection, third photo.

BonnieB - I'll probably have simply knobs. Picking it 'cause I wants something simple & clean. It will show off the wood of the cabinets too.

Melva - forgot to comment on your ears. If you want to flush your ears yourself, there is over the counter stuff that works.

Dianne - all that walking will do you well! I bet you are in great shape. Glad the boys had fun too. And that you don't think that foot is broken. Obviously you are managing to walk a lot on it!

Debbie - good to hear the collars are working! whew. Will go check the cab's you liked...

I got a lot done for the flower show. Got a bunch of info organized and emails sent, plant list reviewed and such. I need to spend an hour or so on the bulbs now - I need to get them set up
in the greenhouse (in trays & watered). I may need to bring them into the house under lights to get them warmer if they don't look to be coming along quickly enough. More to do but I think I got lots accomplished yesterday & today and that feels good.

Beans are soaking for the hummus. Chicks are fed & watered.

I saw 1 online at WM a Samsung 46" for $698.00, another a 42"JVC for $369.00. Am thinking the 46" TV is way too big for me. Too many choices!!! Tam love the cabinets. Wish I could redo mine better. Oh well the next person that lives here can do that or tear the house down and start over.

Deb so sorry about Shane. Sending one or two foots in the rear for him. HAve fun this afternoon.

Bonnie that was a wonderful story and I do believe also. There were a couple of times I knew something was going to happen and I was right.

Adina have fun and talk when you come back.

BonnieB don't overdo it today.

Work yesterday was busy. Waiting on customers. Trying to get truck put away. Washed the floor by the enterance and it was a dried salt mess. Plus a few misc. things. Today I will be waiting on customers. Then putting more of truck away and facing product. Gotta be ready at 5 a.m. for the inventory.

The chicken dish turned out pretty good. Of course I am trying to think how to make it better!

I do plan to go into Kingston 1 day in the next couple of weeks and look at TVs. Somehow I feel much more comfortable with buying one that I have actually physically seen rather than from off the monitor. That is not to say if I see one in a store and then I can find it for less money online I wouldn't buy it online.

Dianne - I like my Panasonic Plasma TV. Its "internet ready" so it hooks up to your internet (via WiFi if you have it or ethernet cable if not). That way you can stream video from Netflix or one of the other providers (Hulu Plus, Amazon...) My old TV still worked but I decided it was time to join the modern age. lol We got a 51" so its huge. But we like it. I got it from Amazon. They delivered it to my living room and then Gary hooked it up. YOu might prefer to get it locally and have them hook it up and show you how to work it.

Well, the power went out at the superbowl, so decided that I had had enough of watching just the commercials. DH really doesn't care about the outcome of the game, just something for him to do. Have been sitting reading a book, and then when the commercials come on, put the book down and watch the commercials. There have been some good ones already. Seems Budweiser has stolen the show with a couple of theirs.

Terese, I haven't watched the puppy bowl this year but have in the past and it is good and funny entertainment.

Dianne, We have a 42 inch tv in our family room, and I would caution to measure the distance from where you usually watch tv (the chair, sofa, etc) and the tv. Too big a screen in a small space makes it seem that you are seeing all the pixels and the picture looks fuzzy. It is all a matter of distance from the tv. So be careful there. Other than that, that is my only advice. Friends of ours went for a really big tv and found that when they put it in their living room, the distance was not enough to make the picture clear. The store took it back and they got another one, but a restocking fee, and other charges applied.

Elsie, sure hope that your weather has calmed down if you plan on reporting to work tomorrow. Are you feeling good enough to go?

Sandy, I told you you would miss Andre, maybe you need to have your DB go spring him from the kennel and bring him home.

When we came out of DH's family church this afternoon it was snowing again. Enough already. I do need to go out to the bank tomorrow. Got a donation to a memorial fund in our church, and a donation to a cemetery at DH's family church. Then I had asked about a keyring at a flea market a week or so ago, and she called and said they have them in. So will stop by there and pick that up.

Well, gonna finish reading another thread and I am off to bed to read until I get sleepy.

... back to the game... after the lights were all back on, it's like the "light switch" flipped ON for the Niners... they cam back with 17 unanswered points, they didn't score when they needed to, but got a field goal. end score was 31 Niners to Ravens 34.

Over all, it was a good game. Didn't really matter to me who won, but since the Ravens were playing such a great first half, i was rooting for them.

Hi so you were surprised that the lights went out in the super dome last night? Ya gotta remember it's New Orleans people!!! That's what happens when someone pockets the money that should have gone to the electric company to pay the bill. LOL!!! Or someone who did not get selected to work Beyoncé's private detail got miffed and pulled a plug. The natives march to a different drummer. Only in the Big Easy - my home town. Of course, I am joking, but it could very well be true.

I went to a super bowl party where the bet was on the total point score. My guess was 60 total points scored at the end of the game. It was also the highest number anyone chose. I WON - $10. The hostess said if you are for the Ravens wear a purple shirt - 49ers wear a red shirt. I went to the party wearing a red shirt and vest because it was cuter than my purple outfit. At halftime when the Ravens were dominating the game I changed into a purple shirt I had brought with me. At the end I was cheering for both teams to score to run it up to 60 points. There was lots of cheering and cancan kicks by the supporting fans for each score.

Dianne I am happy that Diesel was such a brave boy today. Glad you have Steve in your life. I wish Wayne and I lived in the same town. Because I have absolutely no romantic attraction to Wayne and he demonstrates the same towards me, he is very comfortable to be with and even have under my roof overnight. More like a favorite relative. It is nice to have him around. Heed Debbie's warning about that foot. About the TVs, bought 50 inch Toshiba HDMI TVs for DM online. I sit about 5 or 6 feet from the screen and see no pixel break up. She loves them because she can read the trailers at the bottom of the screen, I would advise you to buy he largest one you have room for. Our vision is going to continue to deteriorate and that TV will last a long time. Try the website CNET.com for reviews on electronics.

Oh, Melva, it is so annoying to have your ears stopped up. I hope you get relief soon. Look in the bright side you have an excuse for not hearing Phil when you don't want to. hehehehe

Adina I Know you enjoyed having Nicholas for the weekend. How are the wedding plans coming? Are the bride groom getting along better these days?

Debbie cute pics of the kids. Wonder why the collar doesn't work on Daisy?

Terese I saw that same sunrise - amazing!

BonnieB you had a mighty busy schedule today. Don't overdo. You were pretty sick you know. Practice what you preach.

Hey Sandy, thinking of you tonight. You, too Vicki...hugs.

Tomorrow I have to stay chained to this house to empty my suitcases and pay bills. Went to see DM at 10:50 AM today and left at 3:30 PM.

Gonna go snuggle with my boys who are oh so happy to have me home.

Goodnight.

Bonnie

Good Morning!

Woo Hoo on the big win Bonnie. ;-)

Its very wintery outside. Low 20's, grey & everything coated in white.

The chicks are growing fast. Mom is now hopping out of the box and I suspect she is trying to get them to follow her. She likes to take her babies outside in the fresh air. I'd be happy to let her if it weren't so cold. What will be will be for them.

Scirocco is holding her own. She's stabilized at around 7lbs or a little less. Still very skinny but at least she put on a little weight and has kept it on. Oh what we would give to have her weight problem, eh ladies?

Morning! Was tired and sore yesterday after working so hard Sunday. I was doing the Petfood area. You have to get on the floor to reach the back of the bottom shelf and even then you can't reach it. Do not picture that in your mind you will have nightmares! Then it was up and down the ladder doing the top shelves. But we must of done a good job as they(inventory team) started at 5am and were done at 11am. Took an Aleve before work and it wore off around 6 so I was really feeling it and still am today. We were $30,000 shy of $1,000,000. in sales for the year. We are so glad that is done. Told her we should start a day earlier next year! LOL

Tam so glad she is holding a decent weight and that it means she will be just fine. Yes it will be what it is with the chicks. But it is still a sad thought.

Bonnie I wrote down the review site you posted as we are kind of looking also. Laughed when I read you had 2 tops so you could switch. PLus smiled when I pictured all those rowdy people cheering! Ty is not a snuggler and I do miss that.

Deb loved the pics of the kids. Especially Lexie's as I saw the kitties between her ears! You need to find a place to hang your purse. It has been used to many times as a punishment tool!

Oh what to do today. So many undone projects and too many thoughts swirling around in my poor head. Ty needs breakfast so that will be the first one. DH says he needs whites washed soon. He does wash his colors and put them away so I won't complain.

Will have to shovel some snow as that is what it is doing. DH said about an inch when he was leaving for work. I also see a nap in my future! Just hope I can relax and take one.

Good morning,

Dang it is cold outside! I didn't take the tour of the back yard with Izzy this morning, so cold the birds won't even eat out of the feeders!
The sun is shining so I hope it brings the temp up a bit. It is a whopping 17 out!

I remember nothing for the night except DH leaving.

Coffee pot just beeped so the brew is threw! Going to go grab a cup.

Elsie you feeling better?

Tam, my daughter is like Scirroco, she totally pigged out at the Super Bowl party, and she is a size 0-2. She will get cravings galore and HAS to have
a Whopper and fries, supersized!!! With her health issue...the doctor told her to go ahead and eat it. What the heck!!!

Bonnie, Sounds like a wonderful party! Glad all went well and you had a good time. I remember last year you took your Grandgirls to Mardi gras festivities and had such a great time.

I have a ton of paperwork to get done for Cleveland...so am going to grab my coffee...wave good morning to
BonnieB, Melva, Vicki, Dianne and everyone else...because if I stay on here...here I will stay all day!!!

Vicki, my purse was hanging. If you knew what they did to get it down you would be amazed. It was on the back of a tall chair...climbed on top of the bunny cage,
jumped over to the back of the chair, knocked my coat on the floor...and then the purse. It was a plotted out adventure.

Back from the nursing home. First day there with my visiting ministry. I was telling the activities director about Mr. B and she said just be sure his shots are all up to date, bring his record in, and then he can start going with me! They have a big gray cat forgot his name already, Calvin I think, and he smelled Mr. B all over me, so I may not be able to make friends with him anytime soon.

Got loads of stuff to do, so will just ~~~~~ for the time being, and will be back.

Good morning. I am facing a stack of bills and papers three inches tall this morning and I am not exaggerating at all. They all came in the two weeks I was away!!!

Vicki that was a lot of sales for one year. WOW! Hope you have a few easier days so those aches and pains can go away. Why does your DH wash his colored clothes but not the white ones?

Debbie those cats of yours are little devils. How do you stand it? Why on earth do they choose a pocketbook as a target????

Sandy enjoy your outing.

Tammy sure hope Sirocco's is out of danger of whatever it was that caused the weight loss. Sounds like mama hen is getting cabin fever. Maybe the babies will stay inside a few more weeks.

BonnieB I did go back to sleep this morning - slept from 5;00 - 8:30 AM. I feel pretty good so far. Learned from Dr, Wahba's office that he wants me on supplemental oxygen at night. Give me a break!!!! CPAP Machine, oxygen, and lymphedema leg pump machine, how can I ever leave home again?

Guess I had better get back to my bills,

His doing the colors is one less load for me and the whites are both of ours and maybe the bleach scares him! LOL Besides he will pull his whites out when dried and put them away leaving mine. Most of the time I leave the whites for him to put in the dryer.

Will use the bow tie noodles again. His I will add black olives and mine will get green olives. Oh plus I am cooking some broccoli to throw in. Top with Mozzarella cheese. Too much too little?

Debbie - can you find tomatoes that are actually edible? (I guess anything would be edible with bacon though. lol)

BonnieB - rabbit? Did your DH shoot it? Who butchers 'em?

Vicki - did you lose any seedlings or plants carried over that aren't hardy? What a nasty surprise!

Terese - I actually started adding spinach to mine! I use raw cacao nibs, cinnamon, frozen fruit (always a cup of berries) and if I have them, top it all off after blending with pomegranate arils. I love that pop of flavor and the crunch too.

OK... gotta finish a couple things and I'm finally gonna get something to eat.

Another cold, damp day here. If the Weather Liars are correct we are in for quite a snowfall and then freezing rain on Thursday. Have to go see Dr Death on Thurs am but that is here in the village - if the roads are too bad she won't have made it out here from Kingston. It is just a touch base appointment so it is not crucial if I can't get there. The neighbour who has so much trouble driving the lane in winter is in Florida wrecking havoc there so I won't have to worry about her blocking the lane. There are only 2 vehicles that have to get out to go to work in the am and all of the poeple involved can work from home if the weather is too bad Thurs. am.. If you listen to the WLs it is going to be atrocious but just how many times have they been right ??

With a leaky face this morning I moved Quill's quilt from the bedroom. I just had to do it. Poor Diesel is really mourning her and for the second time about 3 am this morning he laid on Quill's quilt and started to whimper. I joined him and let me tell you it was more than a whimper coming out of me. This has really devastated us both. We've walked our feet into the ground even more than usual these last few days.

Vicki your dinner sounds very good. Got enough for 1 more to join you? I cooked a chicken yesterday and the house smelled so good. I just about choked at the price of chicken - on sale it was $2.49 a lb.. That bird needed to smell and taste good at that price. I guess because I have started to buy meat for the first time in several months (have been living out of things prepared in the freezer mainly) the price increases are really hitting me square in the face.

Debbie what happened with Shannon's job with Paul's firm? Did Target agree to the proposal? Sure hope so for her sake and yours' too.

Elsie how are you feeling today? Are you still taking Rxs?

Sassy is here telling me in no uncertain terms that she is hungry and needs to be fed now, Diesel has been eating very little since Quill went over the bridge. I think I will measure his kibble out tomorrow and keep track of exactly how much he is eating.Sure don't want him getting ill on me.

Have a new book titled Chanel Bonfire I might start tonight. It is a true story written by Wendy Lawless about being raised by her mother Georgann Rea.Sounds very interesting. It's times when I read a book like this I realize that my mam really wasn't the worst mam in the world, in fact she was trying her best.

Got all your paperwork taken care of Bonnie? Tomorrow I have proclaimed Desk Day.After I return from our first walk in the early morning I will tackle what's on top of the desk.

Sandy how does your leg feel after your adventure out today? Bet your mam was glad to get out of the house too. Andre is counting the hours too SAbdy until he gets to come home. I know you have said he likes in fact loves it there but I bet he will be very glad to see his mom and get home to his space.

Terese got your land legs now? When do you head back north? I know whatever the date, too soon I am sure.

Melva how are you doing? How is Graham faring in all this wacky weather Texas has been having?

BonnieB does your DS go with your DH to hunt or is better they are not together when hunting? How many dogs does your DH take to hunt with each time he goes out? If DH doesn't hunt for a few weeks does he have to give the hunting dogs a refresher training session? Or are they just too smart and never forget?

Graham is inside has been for a couple of months...on nice days we put him on the patio in a large box so he can get some sun...the up and down with the weather makes it hard on everyone.
Phil got another raise yesterday...so he ordered still another black powder weapon...
A friend of ours built Phil a shelter that he can shoot from and people from the highway cant see him...the same friend is having a hard time so we have been having him do some things for us..he is going to build a cat door next week for Corky plan is to put it in the bathroom window. I may see if he can build me a chicken coop too..Rodney (our friend) is going through a very hard time. I feel terrible for him. The man he has worked for as a ranch manager for 17 years, is losing his properties which includes Rodney's house..he has 3 weeks to clear his stuff out and move...even the truck he drives is a work truck. He just came over and was telling me about it. I told him, that if there is anything we can do to help him for him to ask...he said he hates to ask people for help...I said I understand, but I wanted him to know he has built a lot of good will with us and to not be afraid to ask us for anything. We have been friends with him for more than 2 years. He has animals, a dog (who is blind) and 2 house cats...he isn't sure what he will do with them..he has a place to move but it is about 1/4 the size of where he is and the place he is now is full so he has to downsize a lot!

Melva, that is such a shame about your friend. I hopw he and his pets make out well.

Dianne, I am with you about the price of just about anything. Yes, I'm still on an antibiotic - I think it is killing my stomach. It's good that you and Diesel had a good cry.

Tammy, I hope you have eaten and I'm so glad you finally cleaned your act up.

Bonnie, I guess you were hedging your bets on Sunday. I hope you get all caught up.

BonnieB, I can't wait to hear about Mr. B's trips to the nursing home.

Vicki, you always have some nice meals put together. Your inventory work sounds dreadfully hard to me.

Sandy, I hope your leg starts to feel better.

I ran into my DB at the store after work. He went to give me a kiss and I said no - I was sick. He backed up - he is going to vacation. To FL and a cruise.

I didn't find a new vaporizor at BBB - I have vinegar in the old one. It works for a few minutes and then doesn't.

Work made me crazy ok - crazier today. After I got stuff in order I decided to have a cup of soup. It's the dried noodles and dry soup mix. I opened it and went to the water cooler and dropped it. So I went to get the vacuum and my co-worker looked at me - why did I want a vacuum to clean up soup. My boss and his mother moved the tables and stools. I think he thought someone made the mess and just walked away. Then he tried the vacuum hose and attachment and it didn't work for him. So I tried the regular part of the vacuum - dried noodled scattered everywhere. So he got the broom and I vacuumed that up with the hose attachment. HIs Mother said therewas stuff left in the cup - about 3 noodles. hehe

After all that I was really hungry with no lunch.

The boss's Mother was watering the plants in her DH's office. Someone took the watering can and she was watering with a small plastic cup.

I'm watching the birthday party for Betty White.

Hi folks!

I had a nice dinner and sat down to work on my taxes. I am getting a refund this year. Last year I had to pay a lot so I bumped my deductions a lot. All the forms needed aren't in and I'll have to review the items Turbo Tax has flagged but it feels good to have it so far along this early.

Loretta - your day sure does sound like a bit of a comedy. Sorry about your soup! I bet you were even hungrier than I was 'cause at least I had a couple crackers & a grapefruit!

Dianne - I hope the WL really are exaggerating about that storm! I'm glad that you do have Diesel share your mourning though its awfully painful for the both of you. Sure hope the weather clears and you both get a good outing with Thor again soon.

Oh - that stupid hen is no longer sitting on her chicks! I moved the heat lamp closer to them and put a cover on half of the box to help hold in the heat. I'm afraid for them without her to warm them. I'll look into setting up a bigger box with some more insulation tomorrow.

Good night everyone.

Well, will answer questions before I report or comment on anything.

DEBBIE DO NOT READ MY POST!

Tammy, DH shoots and butchers them. I am glad that Scirroco seems to have stabilized. It may not be the optimum weight, but at least she is not losing weight, so something you are doing must be right.

Dianne, no DS has never shown an interest in hunting, and quite frankly sometimes it wouldn't be a good thing for both of them to have guns at the same time. I am joking of course, but they are so much alike that it isn't funny. They are oil and water, and you know how well they mix. Rabbit season is from November 15 to January 31. He has 4 dogs that he hunts, and three are kept in a kennel, so that they will not be tempted to take off hunting any time they want. Wouldn't hurt for the exercise or practice, but he doesnt' want them to start chasing deer. That is a bad thing for a rabbit dog. No it is natural instinct for them to hunt. Matter of fact, one dog that he lets stay lose chased one across the front porch this morning, baying like at a full moon. DH lets them out of the kennel and takes them into the woods and to the back of our property several times a week, but we have a road close, and that is another reason that they must stay in the kennel. When on the scent of a rabbit, with their noses to the ground they would run out in front of a car if that is the path that the rabbit took. This one dog that jumped the rabbit this morning, and passed by the dining room window in pursuit will retrieve the rabbit when DH shoots. Now there are Retrievers, but they are bird dogs, never heard of a Beagle that retrieves. 2 of his hunting dogs are 1/4 Jack Russell. He has bred them half beagle and half JRT, but those dogs are too fast. Poor Mr. B will not have the opportunity to be a father again after his surgery about this time last year.

I am sure that your's and Diesel's crying and mourning was good for the soul. I am sure that your heart feels so empty as Quill was with you for a long time. I am so glad that you have Diesel, as without him you would be terribly lost. I am glad that you removed the quilt, since it seemed to upset Diesel. They mourn just like people, and he too will get to a place where it won't be so fresh in his mind.

NOW YOU CAN READ DEBBIE!

Elsie, I am so excited that they invited Mr. B to the nursing home. I know that he will love the exposure to different people, and I am sure that many will fall in love with him. I am sorry about your lunch, yikes, I would have had to go out and get something else to eat.

Tammy, that was one heck of a day. I really don't like missing my shower, but especially after a work out, that just wouldn't do.

Melva I bet Graham thinks that summer has arrived when you take him outside. So sorry to hear of your friends prediciment. I am hoping that he will ask if he needs anything. In this economy, I know it is hard for many who were just barely making it before things got worse.

Vicki sorry I didn't see your supper sooner, I would have been there too. I don't eat rabbit, so I had a big salad and a baked potato. A baked potato is my all time favorite, I can make a meal of one.

Terese that sounds like a long time to be in one place, although my DTS and her DH is planning to stay till the first of April.

Debbie, when is it you go to Cleveland? Is the FIL travel arrangements made and different than what they were? If I were there, I would drive you to Cleveland myself. Wouldn't have to wait for your DH to get FIL settled and taken care of that way.

Bonnie, sorry that you had such a big pile of mail to return home to. But with tackling it today, maybe you can move on to other matters tomorrow. I bet the boys were super happy to see their mamma again.

Sandy, I know the time out of the house did you good. Do you think that by Friday you will be able to start taking care of Andre again? I forgot you got the neighbor that is to help with his exercise. Hope that works out well. You take care of that knee and make sure that you don't overdo it until it is properly healed.

Well, nothing on my agenda tomorrow. I got a call this morning the church that cancelled their service last Sunday because of the weather needed a preacher. The one who was scheduled has children and all of them have strep throat, so he cancelled. So the sermon I had prepared for last week is still good, so will go over it and make sure that details are firmly in my mind. Otherwise I would have spent the rest of the week preparing a new sermon.

BonnieB -- the past 4 weeks, [we are in week 4 I think] we have been in a new spot for a week... we will go to Bartow on Feb 9th, and sometime around the 18th, we will try to shoot down to Key Largo for 4 days or so... that will break it up a bit. A friend of ours in Bartow will be having a knee replacement on Monday -- so DH wants to make sure we are there for when she gets home. So the Keys may be up in the air...

Well, I managed to not get one bill paid today. I did, however, spend considerable time on the telephone trying to understand some of the billing, setting up accounts under my new address. making doctor's appointments and scheduling at home visits with a person who has to come and put one of those oxygen thingies on my finger overnight tomorrow night, and someone who has to come out and recalibrate my CPAP machine, and talking with the estate sale planner, and talking with my stock broker about setting up a fund to carry the extra expenses until I sell the Katy houses, and replying to email inquiries from my Katy real estate agent, and on and on and on...

(((((Dianne))))) I am glad you had Diesel to help you shed the tears that bring release when your heart is breaking. I am certain some of those were shed for your DH, too. So much loss for you, dear lady. Removing the blanket took courage. It is a step towards healing for you and Diesel. Hoping the storm doesn't happen on
Thursday.

Elsie for you to be cold sounds like you are still feeling the effects of your recent illness and may not be fully recovered. Have you tried any new soups lately - the ones you make at home not the ones you use for confetti at work. LOL!

Tammy sure do hope those little chicks make it. You have a lot on your plate now, too, with the flower show, work, kitchen project, and baby chicks to name just a few things going on in your life.

Melva I bet Graham can't wait for the warm weather. Does he just hibernate in the winter in a warm box with covers or do you keep him in an indoor heated enclosure? How are your ears? Didn't know Phil was a gun collector. Does he buy and sell or just buy?

Vicki sorry I missed your supper. It sure sounded yummy. I met Judy and two other friends for Mexican tonight. I was not that bowled over by my choice of entrees. My fault. I tried something new.

BonnieB wild rabbit was served once in a blue moon in my home when I was growing up. I never ate it. Still will not. My dad was a fisherman not a hunter for sport so whatever game (mostly a variety of wild ducks) we ate came from relatives and friends. My mom particularly liked to cook wild ducks with turnips. Melva and Graham - turn away - I did enjoy the turtle stew (?) my grandmother made on the rare occasions when one of the trappers who trapped mink and nutria on my grandfather's marsh land in South Louisiana would bring her a big ole snapping turtle. If the turtle was female and had eggs it was all the better. The eggs were all yolk and delicious dropped in the shell into the fabulous stew. I would only eat pieces of the breast meat as it has no gristle and was very sweet, white and mild tasting. The sauce started out with a brown roux and ended up a burnt orange color.

Okay Debbie you would think that after all that talk about turtle stew I would be pining some similar Cajun dish, but no what do I want - a BLT! You can bet it is at the top of my grocery list for tomorrow.

As you can see, in the photos, the bills and paperwork still await me. My assistant on the left managed to knock several sorted piles to the floor during my dinner break. I suppose he did not approve of my organizational skills and the assistant on the right obviously worked very hard while I was out and now needs a break. I am going to break for bed. Nothing can go out in the mail or process on online banking at this hour anyway.

Goodnight all.

Bonnie

What a day! Just got our power back on! Apparently a car & telephone pole decided to do a dance and took the entire
town out with it!! Wasn't supposed to be back on til 1:00 a.m. but they made it back about 11:15ish. It wasn't long out (a bit over 2 hours) but
with it 17 outside...it was dropping inside fast!!

Plans for Cleveland. Sigh. Leaving Sunday after they get out of church and having to drive MIL & FIL down to Ohio to his sisters. THEN our nephew
has offered his house to stay at...so I won't be under the same roof as the In-,laws much. If it gets overwhelming...DH has been told in no uncertain terms
I will leave him there with his parents & sisters...and take his car and he can find another way home. He gave me a "you wouldn't" look...and I just said
I was done and do not push me or you might not like the choice I make.

Not knowing where my son is isn't making matters any better here. He is supposedly somewhere in Ohio. He will not answer DH"s texts at all or calls.
He does answer mine...but nothing descriptive. Just "yes/no/ and I'll let you know" answers. I told him...if you are adult and mature enough to be on your
own and take off, then you need to be mature enough to tell us what is going on...and if you don't want to tell us, it proves you are doing something wrong,
and you need to think about that too. No replies.

OK, I am cold...and heading to bed.

Waving, hugs & sweet dreams to you all...

Good Morning!

DH reported that all the chicks are fine this morning. And no, moma hen did not go back into the box with them. I tossed & turned quite a bit of the night worrying about those silly chicks!

Bonnie - love your assistants. I do think you worked that poor Swiper too hard. He looks exhausted. I bet he slept well last night. And I hope you did as well.

Terese - Debbie is still going to the Cleveland Clinic from the sounds of it. I hope you find your friend recovering well and enjoy your visit.

BonnieB - I bet that will be a terrific sermon! I loved hearing a bit more about the dogs. Its nice to know they get out to run as often as they do.

Debbie - Sorry to hear about that son of yours. Don't know what to suggest and you probably don't need advice anyway. I've forgotten if this visit is purely for diagnostics or potential for treatment as well? I know you said they might decide to send you home after the first day, depending on results.

Loretta - I sure hope today is a better day (although it sounds like plenty of entertainment there at work yesterday!) It sounds like you need to stash a few more options for lunch in case of future mishaps. I used to keep apples & oranges in the office (when my kitchen was further from my office).

Melva - I forgot to stay I'm sorry to hear about your friend who has to move to such a smaller space. I bet that's gonna be very difficult and [painful emotionally.

Vicki - so how did that dish turn out? Curious minds want to know. :-)

Dianne - I checked our forecast and we're in for some warmer weather soon. Its supposed to hit 40degF (above freezing!) on Sat. I just hope that storm doesn't hit you as I know those long walks are important to both you & Diesel.

Adina - how's life in your corner of the world?

I have to finish up the written materials for the flower show. I have to write up the proposal and then the other folks edit it. I've figured out I don't need to do a great job but just kick start it. That saves some time. :-) There's some phone calls to make to finalize arrangements and a shopping trip to pick up supplies. Yep... more to do for the flower show.

I hope to have the contractor back out here one more time to work out the details of the plan - finalize dimensions, nail down lighting & electric plan and remove the venting & hood for the cooktop from the estimate. Its gonna be a huge expense and based on my cooking for 15yrs w/o any indication of grease or residue above the cooktop, unnecessary. I just hope code doesn't require it. With the contract worked out, then its on to finishing design details and selection of materials.

I found out the sink I'd found for 50% off is white and not a very light beige ("biscuit") as originally thought. I need to rethink it now.

Good morning,

Terese, yes we go to a clinic right outside of Cleveland in Solon Ohio. Will probably be there til Wednesday at least.

I am finally trying my "one scoop" coffee pot this morning. Hopefully it works well and won't waist the rest of the pot with
just me drinking it.

Having a heat wave, up to 25 today and it is already 23! May shows us getting pummeled by snow right now...but not a single
flake in the sky. I can live with that.

Sandy, good luck at the doctors, and sure hope you can get into dentist. The Anesthesiaologist might have "hit something" and
loosened that bridge on you. Hope a simple fix.

My office assistants would have pushed all that onto the floor...or watered it!!! I was arranging the kitchen cabinet yesterday and sat a pot
down to come answer the phone. Went back into the kitchen and there was Darla...the little run...curled up in the spaghetti pot sleeping.
I wish I had grabbed the camera before I dumped her out and washed it again.

OK, going to check this coffee out.

Um, Tam...you showering today? hehehe

Not so sure about this "single cup" issue. It needs tweaked. Put my full cup of water in...and yes, knew about evaporation. But, didn't even
fill it up 1/2 way. So, added another 1/4 cup...and it over filled. I am wondering if there is a reservoir or such...will have to read the instructions now (joking).

Morning! Nice frosty morning and the sun is shining. Forgot to check the temp.

That hotdish was so good. I went and had seconds. No wonder I can't loose any weight. DH liked it also. Now if I tweak the chicken parm one also we have a couple of winners.

DH asked if we were having spaghetti for Valentines. I said it was to far away to plan. May be his way of reminding me it is coming after the Anniversary fiasco. He didn't like hearing it was just another day. I have been hearing that for 39 years and am tired of trying. He can do the next however many we have.

Sandy hope all goes well today. I missed it.

Well Deb at least you kind of know where he is. Am trying to think of more to say and the right words won't come. But if he wants to live away then he thinks he is an adult.

Bonnie good pics of the crew. That's a lot of time spent on the phone. Hope you don't have to do that today.

Elsie be careful with your lunch today and like Tam said. Take extras!

BonnieB you mentioned taxes and I should get mine done. It won't take long as they are just basic. But I will put it off.

Wish I had another day off but I go to work today. It is better then working 6 in a row again.

Gotta go and boil some eggs. Might do a bit of baking.

On pineterest I found where you take Ritz crackers and rollos. Put one cracker down top with rollo. Heat for a few minutes top with another ritz. Not to bad. Not excellent ! I used Townhouse as that is what we had.

Well the Weather Liars live up to their name. It is a sunny day here. Now the WL are saying the storm will hit after midnight. Why don't they just say there is a 50/50 chance of something weather related occuring. At least then they would probably be more accurate.

Yep you are right Debbie - Alberta Clipper. A storm to be feared for sure.

Moved wood into the carport and house this morning so no matter what the weather brings I will be warm. Diesel loves when I move wood as he gets to root around down on the hill going to the lake. Rabbit area!!! We toshed across the lake this morning and man that was 1 bitter wind. Fortunately it was worse going over than when we came back.

Getting more anxious Debbie or are you to the stage of lets hurry up and gets this over with? I sure hope they can help you.

I used the big SHopVac (the one I dumped everywhere a few weeks ago) yesterday as my upstairs vacuum doesn't really have a good hose to get into corners and under things. I had been smelling an earthy smell in 1 corner of the bedroom but couldn't see anything. When I got in there with this vacuum a raw potato that Diesel had been chewing was wedged between the bookcase and the corner out of sight no matter how I laid on the floor and looked. Bet that bedroom will smell better tonight. It wasn't a rotten smell just like earth smells when you dig potatoes up in the fall. I'll watch him much more carefully when he gets a potato from now on.

Aww, Dianne, Diesel was just keeping close in case you got hungry during the night! What a hoot. Mr. B is walking around looking for a place to hide a dog biscuit that I just gave him. When I clean, you wouldn't believe the number of treats I find hidden. The thing is, he forgets where he hides them! One time my DS spent the night here, and Mr. B hid a pork chop bone in his pants that he had thrown on the floor. He came out of the bedroom laughing the next morning, showing me what he had found!

Got all the tax stuff together, just haven't started calculating them yet. Gee, can you tell that I really hate this job? But lots better if I do it alone than involving the DH. Now that really drives me crazy.

too funny about the potato and the chop bone.

Buddy hides his bones / snacks too... he likes to bury them but usually does a lousy job... IE - Milk bones / retriever rolls with like 1 wood chip on them, or nothing at all. and if he sees me watching him, he will unearth it and relocate it. We find "chippies" [remnants of retriever rolls] wedged in the sofa, etc. he's too funny.

Vicki we were having a conversation about how hard it is to peel hard boiled eggs sometimes.

Tammy, I can't wait to see the photos of your kitchen remodel. It's going to be great. Good to hear the chicks are doing well.

Debbie, when do you go to Ohio? What kind of single serve coffee thing do you have?

Bonnie, love the helper pictures!

Sandy, great news about the pool.

Dianne, that is too funny about the potato - maybe he wants some tater salad.

BonnieB, that is so funny about the pork bone. The last dog my DM had used to hide all of his treats if he knew he would be alone. He seemed to only eat when someone was home. Then he would be eating a milk bone and the other dog - an afghan would look at my parents for her treat. She had eaten it long ago. Everyone had found a milkbone under their pillow at one time or another. This dog would bring mouthfulls of dry food to the kitchen so he could eat with the family. His food was downstairs. Those two dogs were quite a site - he was a miniature poodle and she was a blonde afghan.

The Jan/Feb 2013 issue of Cooking Light has Chicken 25 Ways on the cover. Meyer Lemon Chicken is on the cover. There is a Chicken BLT Salad in there - boy does it look good. It has boneless chicken breasts cooked like chicken fingers, tomatoes, bacon and iceburg lettuce cut in big wedged. This has blue cheese dressing on it. I wouldn't have blue cheese but something else. The picture of it makes me hungry.

My vaporizor bit the dust again. I'm going to dry it out and try again. I went to Lowes to look for one - didn't find one but they have seeds out. They have a solar flamingo yard ornament.

Dianne, we have a neighbor a couple streets over that lost his license, but drives his lawn mower up and down the road during summer/fall.

Another got a ticket for riding while under the influence...drove regular bike right into the side of a car.

Loretta - did you mean to post This Old House final episode link? :-)

What a hoot about the hidden potato! Thank goodness you found it before it really got bad. They smell REALLY bad when rotten. Scirocco puts those plastic rings from milk bottles and such all over. We find them in all water dishes, food dishes, toilet etc. Makes me smile to know she's found a way to entertain herself.

BonnieB - I got my taxes pretty far along. Bite the bullet and it will be over before you know it. Though I think a good bottle of wine would have helped. lol

Well I ran into a snag on the kitchen design. Found out that we have no access in a huge chunk of the area of the old house. Its dicey if I can fit the sink where I want it. Which really throws off a lot of the design. Dishwasher is placed to avoid interactions with a wall cabinet. If I move sink, I have to move the dishwasher. That means I need to make the wall cabinet on the other side of it narrower. Ugh.

Tam, I am thinking about waiting until I have some wine! No, if I had one glass, there would be no tax prep going on. I do have everything all pulled out and together, but just need to sit and do some calculations. I will get there. Not in a big hurry, as we usually have to pay extra anyway. Sure hope that the find in the kitchen really doesn't mess with the plan too badly. That is the surprises you get when you have an old house. We had to work around things like that in our former house.

Elsie, that really looks good, and I printed off the recipe. That looks like something that would be good when you have fresh garden tomatoes. In the summer, I have a salad nearly every night, loaded with chicken, or lean pork. That is my meal. With the outside exercise, sure can take off some weight. I would think at this time of year the humidifier would be hard to find. I would try the baby stores as they carry them year round. Most box stores will only have them in the winter. And with them getting ready for the spring things, may not restock this year.

Terese, had to laugh, Mr. B is like Bud, barely covers something outside. I laugh at him all the time. If he knows I have seen him, he will take it and hide it somewhere else. Tonight he carried that biscuit around for a good while. We missed him from the family room, and when he reappeared, the biscuit was gone. I know that I will see it again sometime soon!

Debbie, will be keeping you in my thoughts on Sunday, and hope that you leave at the time you want. Maybe have DH call and tell them you have changed your plans and want to leave at 12:00, so that she will be on time at 1:00.

Melva, is the rock in the acquarium a solar or electric rock which heats on it's own? I wouldn't have a clue about how to take care of a turtle.

Sandy good for you about getting to go to the pool, and then the dentist. It will seem like you are out for the first time in months, instead of just a couple of weeks.

Dianne, on our national news tonight, they were talking about a huge snow storm coming your way. It will hit the carolinas and then up the east coast. I do hope that you have enough wood, and plenty of food if it gets as bad as it sounded. Tammy that may get you before it gets to Dianne. Please everybody be safe.

With my health insurance furnished through my retirement, I have a Silver Sneakers plan which allows me to go to a gym or to Curves. I called the gym today, and I have use of the heated pool, weights and a class for us oldsters. On Tues and Thurs mornings. I am thinking about going, but will only get to go on Thurs, as my nursing home visitation is on Tues morning. May go on another day just to use the pool. I think they have acquatics exercise class on other days, and maybe I can go to some of them earlier in the week.

Well need to close things down as I am feeling sleepy and need to take advantage of it when it hits.

DS has an appointment tomorrow and I am taking him, but will drop him off then I will go to the grocery.

BonnieB, I'm glad you like the recipe - I agree that it would be great in the summer. Great benefits with your insurance!

I got my humidifier working again. I think it's laughing at me. I may have to clean it and dry it every couple of days. There are the bottom of the barrel or very expensive ones left in the store. Most of the ones I have checked out online have rather bad reviews. Maybe this one will last the winter and I can find a new on sale.

Sweet dreams.

Good morning, had my coffee and read the paper, so that is a good start. Need to take DS to an appointment this morning and will be grocery shopping in the city where he did live. No problem, as I shop at a chain, and there is one there.

Mr. B woke me at 2:15 with a barking outburst which scared me into wakefulness (semi) and when I let him back in, I crashed on the couch. Don't know why I did that, but very very sleepy.

Off to shower and dress. Yep, Debbie, you won't be smelling anything from this corner!

Good Morning!

I was going to suggest amazon as well! lol Sandy - waving right back at ya.

BonnieB - swimming would be really good for you, with all your back issues and such. Its very gentle on the joints, as I'm sure you know. Sounds like you're approaching the taxes in a nice way - getting ahead of it before its a panic at the end.

Well I tossed & turned and finally got up and watched TV in the middle of the night. I'm just not sure about how to solve the space limitations in part of the kitchen. If I put up the pantry, I create a pinch point between a corner in one wall and the pantry of 32". You really are supposed to have 42". We've got a second door into the house so if you had something huge, you could still get it in that side of the pinch point. This design is consuming me!

Tam, maybe you should draw up a "plan B" design so you can weigh different options before anything is put in cement so to say.

Dianne, if the weather man is right...we are both going to be buried up to our necks in snow by Saturday. "Depending" which way
this storm "swirls" we could get 12...to 24 inches! AND...depending what churns off Lake Ontario. It is supposed to start here about 1:00 a.m.

Vicki, I have had oatmeal two days in a row...I need something new. Thinking of begging DH to stop at Sam's for me, I am out of my berries and
having withdrawals.

Elsie, Did you have to make all those calls this week from being off last week? Thats probably how you "sprained" your cutting and pasting finger!

I am staring to enjoy my new "one scoop". It is Hamilton Beach

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hamilton-Beach-The-Scoop-Coffeemaker/16503564

That metal platform on the bottom flips over...so you can use it to sit smaller cups on.

Debbie - that looks pretty handy if you just make one cup at a time! I always hated the waste of those other single-serve makers. I make a full pot, drink half fresh and the other half the next day, warmed up in the microwave. Its the most efficient use of the coffee grind. I don't think its really all that different the second day either.

On the kitchen - I've whipped up a bazillion options. Basically - no pantry, tight pass through (32") or such a small pantry that its no longer worth bothering. Hence - tight pass through at a corner. I talked it over with Gary this morning, showed him all the options I could come up with and he agreed we should go with 32". (We have a 24" pinch point at almost the same location now but between a desk & a counter. Its fine. With another 8" we're thinking it won't be bad (though it will be between walls rather than 36" high items).

Here's a shot of the space. I can't move the sink & dishwasher to the right 'cause there is no access underneath for plumbing. I can't move it closer to the refridgerator 'cause you need to open the fridge & get into the pantry. The pinch
is behind the pantry. There is no other place in the kitchen where the pantry would be sensible.

The heated rock is electric...we need to get a better place for him...some people who have the really big tortoises give them an entire room...Graham won't get that large! I had a friend in California that had a couple of Desert Tortoises that she kept outside most of the time..when it got cold, she put them on a shelf in the garage. She had them for more than 60 years. She is gone now...I guess her daughter has them now. That was Connie...I met her when I was 13 when the bus stop for school was on the corner where her house was. I really miss her a lot. Her house was the kind that had enclosed patios that is where the tortoises lived.

Debbie, I think you are correct about the phone calls. I'm still returning them. Most of the people have forgotten they called. hehe That's a neat coffee maker. I hope you get it to work like you want.

Tammy, I'm not sure I get the whole space. You two are narrow people so you should have no trouble. But if you were carrying something and you whack the walls - you might not like it. I think it only matters how you are using the space. Can you mockup something like walls so you can actually see how it would feel?

You know I've been in your house and I just can't picture how your kitchen is right now.

I think we are in for some nasty weather and I want to to just go out to sea. I went to the grocery and I've never seen so many cars in the parking lot. You couldn't get near the milk case. Even the managers with ties were bagging. That's busy.

Off to make some dinner.

Tammy, I wish you would talk to the plumber who will be doing the job. If the access is fine where the sink is now, why couldn't they run water pipes through cabinets, or behind the dishwasher, etc. There has to be a way to get water and drains there. A good plumber could solve that problem without even batting an eye. Remember I lived in an old house, and I have even had water pipes run through walls if need be to get to where I wanted water.

Sandy, bet Andre is glad to be home. I know that he loves the kennel, but he is the type that likes different things. Sorry about the tooth. Did you get an appointment?

Elsie, don't know why I didn't think of Amazon. They usually have everything you could ever want. Hope you get all those calls returned. Are you feeling better?

Debbie, when is the storm supposed to get there? Last I saw on that weather, there is a front that is going up through the carolinas, and then meeting up with the front that is going across the northern states. We are only supposed to get rain, but the fronts look like they are very close together over us, so maybe they have revised the forecast for Wisc, Mich, etc. Although I talked to meezer today, and they are expecting lots of snow.

The grocery day and taking DS to his appointment went well. I don't like that grocery as well as the one I normally go to, and seemed like I was doing a lot of back tracking to find items on my list. However, I got it all done. Didn't get to go anywhere else, as DS had to go to work when we got home. He is helping with some construction and it was a beautiful day here today.

Got to tell you all that when I am in that city, there is a very high end consignment shop that I like to visit. Today I hit the jackpot, I got a 3 piece Talbot suit, with tags still on it, in my size for $18.00. Original price tag had been marked through several times, and I think the price was $290 somthing. Got another blazer, couldn't tell it had been worn and a silk talbot blouse. All that for $39.00 There was a Pendleton wool suit, and I tried it on, but the jacket and the skirt were different sizes, so that didn't work. Remember, I usually dress is slacks for just about everything, and with preaching, I needed some really dress up clothes. These are some that I won't cry when I lose weight and need to donate them!

The weather liars said it should hit about 1:00 a.m. I think we will be fine as long as it doesn't turn to sleet or ice...just lots of snow.
Usually have the right equipment and man hours to handle that as it has been mild winter the last couple years. These two storms meeting to the
north east is what is causing all the worry and chaos. No snow here yet, but the wind is picking up.

Went out to eat (chicken and biscuits Thursday special) and have been feeling sickly since.

I would like to know what people do with their snow shovels. Every time there is a snow storm people run out to get a shovel. Once the snow melts - do they throw them away?

I think we are expected to get freezing rain and then 12-16 inches of snow - yuck!! It all depends on where the two storms meet. Schools have early closings tomorrow.

Good morning guys! Have been busy this week, but I've been reading your posts almost everyday, to keep up. The kids were here on week-end and I had a wonderful time with Nicholas who got stuck on me the second he saw me!LOL We played a lot, went out and cleaned the MG's dry vines from the fence. He loved to see the black seeds coming out from the dry pods. I even made him sing a bit of the kids spring song "Here comes Spring!(Vine, vine primavara!)". This might be true because my snowdrops are popping up! I talked to Cici and told him that we'd better bring Nicholas alone over on week-ends so we won't have to see the jerk so often. I told Andreea and she was about to ask me the same for this week-end...so they're bringing Nicholas tomorrow and we'll drop him off on Monday morning. I had an article to finish until Tuesday, then I had to cook and bake, or do laundry. Weather has been warm and nice, but it's getting cold tonight again. It rained a lot last night, but I prefer that than snow.

Elsie, you are too funny! I've noticed that too...actually, after last winter, we had all our shovels(snow or normal) and our neighbor's too broken...but no, we're not buyg snowshovels everytime it snows!LOL Your DM's dogs must have been so funny to watch!LOL

Bonnie, you must be so exausted of packing so much and all the mess... and now the bills. I hope you are making your treatments so you can feel well. Good to know you have such good organizers to help you!LOL The wedding plans are going on well, thanks for asking. They've bought new outfits and shoes for themselves and for Nicholas too. Andreea has to solve the hair dresser issue for that day, but the nails, shaving legs, eyebrows and make-up will be made at the salon where she's learning how to trim hair.

(((((((Dianne)))))), I feel for you and poor Diesel . He must feel deserted now, Quill seemed to act like a Mom to him...and I know you are hurting so much too, but it's good that you have Diesel to comfort you and he has you. I hope the storm won't be that bad as they said. Just in case, it's good you had wood brought near the house.

Tam, congratulations for keeping up with your work-out and diet too! I also like yoghurt or Kefir with dry fruits and cereals, but I'm having those usually in the evening. I'm not that ambitious to keep up a diet, but I'm lucky that I have Nicholas coming over and keeping me on the run all the time that he's here. I'm glad to hear the chicks are well. I hope you can have the pantry and all the fixtures you want in your kitchen.
Debbie, great photos of Izzy and the kitties! Has Shane told you what is he doing there? I'm sorry for the tenssion he's causing between you and Paul. How are the sisters taking this?Good job with the kitty collars!

BonnieB, that's a good bargain! 3 suits for $8.00, wow!!! How are they? You have to show us! Do you bake your potatoes simple or stuffed?

Vicki, I've never had baked eggs in their shell. I agree, it takes too long. I'm baking eggs on top of a potatoes and cheese pie...we're calling it French potatoes... and they're doing well. Yet, it takes also longer to bake than on the stove. Too bad you DH wasn't interested in celebrating Valentines Day until now, but it's good he might be interested now. Give him a chance! Did he say what he would like to do?

Sandy, hooray for going to the pool again! And for Andre getting back home! He must be so funny, acting grumpy for 30 minutes!LOL

Melva, I'm sorry for your friend loosing his house. I hope he finds one soon and keeps the animals too.

Terese, stunning photos!

You guys stay safe from the storm! Posting a few pics with Nicholas, Andreea exercising on her Dad and the first snowdrop in my garden.

Good snowy morning everyone!!!! The Weather Liars were true to form and the great big snowstorm they were having us all in this area shaking in our boots arrived 48 hours late. I swear our local WL are giving the weather from another planet.Sounding like everything is closed today and probably Saturday. Rarely do universities close due to storms but the Kingston one is as are the ones in TO. We are looking at well over a foot of snow but it sounds like Tam and ELsie will be hit harder than Debbie and I.

Diesel had a blast when I put him out at 4:30am. The last walk we had was at midnight so the snow was just starting. He ran and ran, then snow plowed until he fell over. At one point he was bouncing along with his 4 paws off the ground at the same time. He looked liked a pogo stick. It was good to have such a hearty laugh so early in the day.

Tam it is a good thing though that this problem with the sink came to light now rather than when you were part way through the construction. Your mind must be spinning!

Snow day for you today Elsie? I would hate to see you make your way in through all this snow only to be sent home. Apparently, well at least here the worst is yet to come.

Now you are sounding like our Sandy!!! Andre must be home and over his pout about the car ride. He's just reminding you of how much you missed while he was at doggie camp. How's the leg today?

Good score Bonnie! Sounds like you got yourself some nice clothes for an excellent price. Diesel and I had a chuckle about Mr B's hiding exploits. Not long after we had that dicsussion Diesel and I were outside and he disappeared. I looked around the corner of the house and there he was digging out a chewy he had hidden. It was forzen so it had to have been there quite awhile. I have no idea when he did it and when as he rarely goes on that piece of our property without me. Have enough wood inside the house to last 72 hours so the front room is like an obstacle course. The 2 cats and Diesel are loving it!!! Also moved enough wood to inside the carport by the side door to last a few more days after all the inside logs are gone. We will be warm but boy will I have a mess to clean up after the storm has ended. I'll be vacuuming up wood and bark for days.

Vicki were you hit badly with this storm? It appears to be coming from your direction.

Yesterday I went and visited with my cleaning lady and her new son. She and her DH bought our old farm house. Our builder ended up buying the farm house from the bank after the couple we sold it to lost it to the bank. Mike (the builder) kept all of my appliances and they still all work well. Something to be said for appliances that were built over 25 years ago. They are having the propane dryer hooked up (finally) today and Katie is so excited. Dave her DH was baffled at why she was over the moon about the dryer and I asked him if he was the one hanging things on the line every day. Of course he wasn't so no wonder the importance of the dryer went right over his head.

Bonnie how are things in Daytona? Did you get the piece of equipment to go on your finger while you sleep? Any luck with those pills for your restless leg?

Melva I think Graham is pretty luck to live with you. Sounds like you take great care of him! I am just totally fascinated that you have him, I have never known anyone who did so I am full of questions about his care.

Think I will try and see if I have something interesting for breakfast. Fat chance of that happening!

Stay safe, stay warm today everyone!

Good Morning!

Debbie - of course we got the ice. lol I hope all this clears out before you have to leave. Its Sun?

Adina - love the photos, as always. There's no better way to stay healthy and happy than to run around with a loved one, especially one as little & cute as that Nicholas!

BonnieB - Wow! Great buys. Its so much better to give those clothes a new life than have them go to the landfill too. You'll feel confident about how you look as well as about what you had to say now.

Dianne - Diesel sure does provide some good entertainment. As long as he doesn't come up with an avacado stashed away, I think you'll be fine. :-)

Loretta - you are in for a much bigger storm than we are! Wow. Too funny about the snow shovels too. I keep wondering why people panic at the thought of 2 days w/o bread or milk. You'd think it would just be the normal crowd, who would have bought it to restock anyway. Do they suddenly get the urge for bread pudding?

Sandy - you sound happy. So glad the tooth ache isn't bothering you today. Just Andre, and that's his job. lol

Melva - ah... now I understand Graham. If you had a turtle growing up, its not so unusual to you. I had those tiny little ones but mom threw them out when she found out they can carry salmonella.

Bonnie - where are you?

Vicki - what's up in your neck of the woods?

BonnieB - you are a genius! Of course they can run plumbing behind the dishwasher. I should stop listening to my DH. He's such a pessimistic at times you'd think its impossible to open the front door.

Good morning, it is raining here, but that is a lot better than snow. I hope all of you stay safe in the weather.

Elsie, I thought snow shovels were supposed to breed and multiply! We have a snow shovel but usually do not have enough snow to even bother using it.

Sandy, glad that Andre has had his first round of exercise for the day. You just be careful and not overdo with the knee.

Melva, I suppose that I have never noticed in the pet stores any supplies needed for the turtles. Of course here they only have the little box turtles, so probably don't have any of the really cool stuff.

Tammy, sounds like you have a "you can't do that" DH like mine! Of course you need to step out of the box and think about what is possible, but sounds like our DH"s think about what is NOT possible.

Vicki what is for breakfast, since Debbie has not asked, I will take her place to come eat with you.

Dianne, so glad you got all that wood ready, just in case. Sure is better than not having it ready and then needing it. I think all dogs do the hiding food things. Since DH has the hunting dogs, I just wonder if other dogs come along and find another's stash and eat it? I haven't go time to sit outside and watch that, but wonder if the dog hiding it puts some kind of scent on it making it be known that it is his?

Debbie, hope you all stay safe in the storm and that the weather doesn't present any problems with your travel on Sunday.

Adina, Nicholas is getting to be so grown up. He is certainly going to be a very nice looking teen. Ah, breaking the little girl's hearts!

Nothing planned for today, other than DGD has requested a meatloaf for supper, so will get that done later.

Yep, it's white out there!!! I was up at 3:30ish for trip down the hall...and it was still rather "green". Not so anymore! It is blowing and snowing big time
but not a lot on the ground as yet. Izzy was so happy to see her "snow toys" back.

I always watch the birds & squirrels and can tell what the weather will be. Yesterday they all emptied my feeders...and no signs of any today. They knew!
Schools are closed also!

Adina, looks like so much fun for Nicholas learning from you and singing.

We have heard nothing from Shane, he hasn't called here since he left a week ago and not saying anything in text messages. I haven't even gotten a message
since Tuesday. Shannon cries herself to sleep worried about him. The other two have said nothing, they haven't heard from him and didn't know he was gone
when I told them. Said they hadn't heard from him since Christmas.

BonnieB, I have ground sirloin out for meatloaf also! Sounded like a nice warm meal!

Tam, yes, leaving Sunday and the temp...if they are right...should be about 38 then. Have my records and everything ready.
Moving pipes is a very HARD job, especially if no access from underneath without having to tear up floors and move lots of things.
We did that when we installed a dishwasher. There was not one in the house when we moved in. Thankfully DH can do that type of work
or it wouldn't have happened.

Vicki...Bonnie B and I are getting hungry, what is for breakfast!!! I had a glass of orange juice already but just am not hungry yet.

Sandy, it sounds like Andre' is very happy to be home. I got a "catch" in my throat having to leave Izzy at the Kennel and worrying
for the cats. At least Shannon is living home and she is pretty good with them. Won't be on their time schedule...but they will be fed.

Elsie what is is doing out your way? Tam, I had a feeling you would get the ice!! Grrr!

Bonnie, where are you?

By the way...the collars have all worn off. It was a quiet week while it lasted!!!

Ya'll stay inside, warm and safe.

Morning! Strawberries and a protein drink for breakfast.

Deb is there something you can use to refill the collars? Shame on Shane! Hope that is all the snow you get and your trip Sunday is good. Izzy is going to a Kennel? Hope she likes it as much as Andre does his.

Ty does not hide food either. He eats it right away also.

Elsie you didn't go to work to day did you?

dianne keeping you and Diesel in my thoughts. Hearing you talk about your wood in the house I am so glad we have the outdoor stove.

Supper will be up to DH tonight. I have made it all week. He made the salads.

BonnieB I would rather see rain than snow also. We had hamburgers last night so no meatloaf here. But it won't be my problem . LOL

Going to go and see what trouble I can get into.

Vicki, they are actually made out of similar stuff like a flea collar, so no way to refill them. I put them on the beasts last Thursday.

Izzy doesn't hide food...but she will only eat if someone is in the kitchen with her. If I fill her dish and walk out, she won't eat it. BUT if I am in there
cooking or doing dishes, she will eat. Strange girl! lol

I sure hope Elsie didn't drive in to work.

My oldest did, but she said they have NOTHING up near Buffalo, just a light dusting. Carrie was smart and is working from home, but she
lives closer to me than Jeanna does.

I told DH we were having meatloaf for dinner...and text back "with mashed potatoes?" Yep, I think that was a hint. lol

Well, just looked outside...and the snow is now coming from the east...it NEVER comes from the east, and is coming down so fast it looks like white
rain. sigh.

Trouble? Vicki in trouble! Ooooh I want to play!!

Now maybe I will make to the bed or recliner for a nap!

Its still just icey here. I checked on the chicks - moma is going in with them sometimes. She knocks the lid off the box and the flaps flip over to block the heat lamp. So she's not a lot of help. But they are growing and seem fine. Funny thing is that when I go in to check water & food, the moma (who will not be in with them) just clucks and fusses at me the whole time, like she's worried about those chicks. I guess she really just wants them out of the box with her. I may just do that next week. Its supposed to be in the 40s and that box is soaking wet with all the spilled water! If I put a ring of cardboard around the heat lamp, perhaps leaving a foot or so open to let them in & out, maybe that would be enough protection.

I realized I had some dimension off in my CAD so that the pantry is not quite so close to the walls. It looks like 39" at one point and still the 32" unless I make it smaller. More the fuss about. lol (I may enlarge it and make the end cabinet smaller if I can get the plumbing to go thru the back of the dishwasher! That would really be a boon for storage & allow me to shorten it at the end where its a tight fit.) My contractor is back from vacation next week so I'll have him out to go over all the details with me to figure this out and get moving.

Stay safe & warm! And you girls don't get into too much trouble please! lol

Gosh Debbie, have him introduce himself just to make sure!

I think the taxes are just about done, well not the actual taxes, but going through checks and getting all the individual deduction totals. The nice thing about it my neighbor is my tax preparer, and I just called and she said to drop it off at her house instead of going into town where her office is. She says if she has any questions, she will let me know. How good is that?

Got it done without the DH being involved, which is a major plus.

Got the meatloaf in the oven, have cooked green beans, and now need to peel potatoes for the mashed potatoes.

Dianne, if you have any hard candy, that will go a long ways in taking care of the dry mouth.

Yes I do Bonnie. I keep hard peppermints and homemade humbugs just for that reason. One of my meds also causes a dry mouth. Meatloaf sounds wonderful - one of my very favourites with mashed, a veggie and chili sauce (some of you would call the chili sauce chutney as it is not really spicey). Have some yellow beans, maybe I will make a small meatloaf. I am so hungry today and I just can't keep myself filled up.

Did I not read they had extended the due date of your taxes this year due to many changes? Our taxes are not due until April 30. I used to leave it right to the last minute but with the SG business I learned I couldn't do that and get away with it. Sure hope I don't have to pay for Warren this year. Some of his holdings had to be collapsed ,they were not transferable to me personally so there are extra funds there.Seems like the government both provincially and federally always have their hands out.

Before I go lay down I think I will unplug the phone. I have had 16 calls since 10 am this morning ( and those are the ones I answered) from salespeople plus the so-called Windows Service Centre has called 3 times with different people wanting for me to give them access to my computer to fix a problem. Do they think I fell off a turnip truck? Maybe the Call Centres have decided this is an excellent day to call people because many are snowbound or their work or school has been cancelled for the day.

Still can't see the dock for all the blowing snow so I am definitely unplugging the phone and having a nap.

I sometimes feel guilty about Graham...a lot of people have better set ups for them with a UV light and/or a heat lamp and a larger cage. He doesn't move around much when it is cold...on sunny days like today he bumps the glass because he wants out. I am going to find a big box so I can put him outside for awhile. Tortoises are supposed to mainly eat scrubby stuff...grass and hay and things..he gets wetter stuff..raw corn on the cob and squash and romaine lettuce...he used to like carrotts and apples but he won't eat them anymore. Buying him was a spur of the moment thing. I didn't have a clue when I got him. I had the dime store water turtles when I was a kid...they never seemed to last very long. Phil had turtles...boxies and sliders..he is the one who started the turtle craze with me. He brought home a Red Eared Slider he had found crossing the road when he was out in the countryside. He used to work construction 15 years a go and his jobs were all over. He brought home the turtle to show me.
I had to go to the Dr yesterday to get a refill for my medication for the Diabetes. She gave me something for my restless legs...Requip. it is actually a med to treat Parkinsons and it has a lot of side effects and it is expensive...the generic is $48.00 not sure if I am going to try it. A side effect is hypersexuality and compulsive gambling, isn't that odd? My blood pressure was high. 146/90 she wants me to come in in 2 weeks to recheck it, may have to up my dosage of the med. for my blood pressure.

I just got home from work. Not much traffic out there but tons of people out shopping. It's a very wet snow. And it's coming down sideways - it's getting windy. It's whipped the snow right down my collar. It started coming down heavy on the way to work this morning. Wasn't snowing at my house.

Sandy, I watched a very funny video on AFV last night. There was a retractable leash on the ground and the dog picked up the end of the leash and ran with it. Then he let it go and the leash retracted. He went back and pulled the leash again and did it over and over. It looked like a great game for a dog all by himself.

Debbie, you are so different from me. I would have blocked his way until I asked the questions that I wanted answers to. I know he is an adult(supposedly) but adults do not have such irresponsible behavior and leave loved ones to wonder about where they are and if they are all right. Yep I have plenty of experience, so just sayin, the longer you take a passive role, the more that he will continue this behavior. If he lives in your house, you have the right to know. Now, when he moves out, that is an entirely different story. It is just common decency to let someone know where you are. I would DEMAND accountability as long as he lives there.

Hope it doesn't anger you, but you have had enough worries and you need him to understand the impact his behavior has on all the family.

Melva, I think all of us have had that impulse buying thing at some times in our lives. I know that when you realized how long they live you had an oh oh moment. You need to make arrangements for his care when you are no longer to care for him. Even a nice pet store, with a big area for him would be good, so that it could be an educational experience for the visitors to that store.

Dianne, hope you have/had a good nap. I got in about a 30 minute one, and now am heading to the kitchen to finish up supper.

DGD just called and let me know that she is going to be later than what she told me, so that I wouldn't worry about her on the road. One of her friends is having problems, and she has gone to talk to her.

No nap, I just couldn't stop my mind from buzzing.

Diesel and I just got back from another short jaunt - the snow is up to the top of my wellies - and that is in places where it hasn't drifted. The Plow guy hasn't even been in yet and probably won't until the storm is almost over. Sure hope no one needs an ambulance tonight because they wouldn't be able to get in. If this had happened last year I would have moved Warren up to our old neighbours when we lived in the farm house. They live right on a township road which they try to keep at least 1 lane open.

Weather Liars are forecasting this heavy blowing snow all night through until tomorrow late morning. Wow!!! That will be a lot.

Elsie are you home safe and sound? Not going back out are you? Sounds like your area is getting hit by another system moving up the east coast.

Tam how are you faring? Does Fred go outside when the weather gets like this? What about the girls?

Dianne, we have eaten, but there is plenty left. Hop a plane and come on down. You can have good food, and NO SNOW. Bring Diesel and he can teach Mr. B how to play, instead of laying around sleeping.

Debbie, no, I have not been a victim of abuse, and if I had I am sure that it would change my whole approach. Sorry if I butted in. I just learned recently something that I should have known years ago, this applies to me, and maybe others here, but I am speaking for myself. I learned that you send signals that tell other people how they can treat you. I think it is true, and I am trying to firm up my backbone because there are some people who consistently try to take advantage of me.

Wow, Izzy isn't a short little dog so that tells me how much snow you have already gotten. Hope that it won't intefere with your travel. Hehe, maybe your DMIL & FIL will postpone their appointments, because of the weather. Wouldn't that be nice?

We don't have much snow yet but they said after 8pm. The wind sure has picked up though. I hope the trees stay right where they are.

Some places will stop plowing to prevent drifting with the high winds. CNN had a interview with the guy at the weather station on top of Mt Washington in NH. They have recorded the highest winds in the world 231 mph. I think they go up in Snow Cats in the winter and stay for a certain amount of time and then come back down. They are expecting 5 below with winds to make it feel like 45 below. The buildings are chained to the mountain so they don't blow away.

Oh, Debbie, see good thoughts do work! Oh, you are in for it now. Izzie will have such a big head from being on the news that you won't be able to live with her! That is a lot of snow.

Elsie, I have never heard of that place in NH, but jeez, that is cold, and windy. Wonder if they have to anchor themselves to anything to keep from being blown away?

Talking about ants, our weather had been pretty mild overall this winter, and last week we had temps in the 40's and guess what I am seeing? The stupid little ants I battled all last spring/summer/fall. I am calling an exterminator, as I am not waging that war again. I keep my counters spic and span, leave nothing on them, and I don't understand what they think is there for them to eat. I have tried all sorts of home remedies, and some pesticides(under the house) won't use anything toxic inside because of Mr. B, and us of course. I have sprinkled borac acid under the sink and behind the sink which seems like it is the place they are getting access. Anybody have any suggestions or home remedies that they have tried which seem to work. I read today that they don't like salt, so may have to keep my counters covered with salt to keep those little critters away. I want to do more than keep them away, I want them dead!

Well, DGD is here, she was late getting here, but starved when she walked in the door. Dianne, still waiting for you, call me when you get to Louisville, and I will come get you!

Melva, was going to tell you the same thing. It is not natural that raccoons are out in the day time, which indicates he is sick, so be very careful. When they have rabies, they will attack you and with their sharp claws the could do a lot of damage.

DGD and I am planning a day out tomorrow. Been awhile since we have just had a girl to girl talk and she has stuff she wants to tell me without her DF and her DGF around. So we are just going shopping, and if we don't do anything else, we will find us a restaurant and sit and talk for however long. I am looking forward to it. The rock garden society had an optional hike up Mt Washington last summer. We had a botanist who studied the flora of Mt Washington give a keynote talk on it. He was adorable - very young and hunky. (And for reference, I'm one of the youngsters of the group!) The blurb on what to bring on the hike was rather scarey - from heavy warm clothes, extra food & water to sunscreen and layers to allow you to stay cool at the lower altitudes. Sounds like a wild place!

Bonnieb, Have fun with your DGD tomorrow.

Tammy, it is a wild place. So did you do the hike? In all the years I lived in NH I never made it up there. Even late in the spring you can snow on the mountain top. In the summer, there is always at least one story about hikers running into a snowstorm while in summer clothes. Some of the hikers didn't fair too well. You can see VT and Maine from the top if its clear. Interesting photos on their observatory website.

They are comparing this storm to the one in 1978 - I think that's the one where I made it to work in NH and couldn't get into the office. I think the worst of the storm is along the coast. I watched a spot on CNN and the news guy is on the beach on Cape Cod. I have never seen waves come in so fast.

They are still saying we should get a foot of snow. I can't see if it is still snowing. Lots of noises on the roof - I think the wind is knocking the snow off the trees. At least I'm hoping that's it. I'm charging my solar lanterns and then I will charge up my power thingy.

We are up to 14 inches! Haven't been out since 9:00 so probably an inch more by now.

Melva, they are right about being careful with the Coon. HOWEVER, if your animals are coming out of hibernation this time of year, it could be a female that
has kits looking for food. That is the ONLY time...they are usually out in the daytime...looking to feed themselves (pregnant) or their babies. SO be careful. We actually have a skunk family that starts out in March...day trips around the neighborhood. And yes, looking for food for that same reason.

Don't know why, but I am starving even after a nice dinner. Had an orange also. Maybe some decaf tea.

Stay in and stay safe to those in the snow storms tonight!

Debbie -- sorry now sunrise pics this morning... since it's our last morning here, I wanted to get one for you... but it's cloudy. Heading into Bartow, FL in a few hrs. Will miss the beach/ocean... I even ventured out into the ocean yesterday. water temp was about 66f, that is what the board on the guard chair read... was not bad.

I've been fighting a cold the past few days... I'm hoping it broke since I do feel better this morning... will know tonight, as that is when it always seems to hit.
Oh -- today is our 27th Anniversary...he even remembered. [not like when he forgot my Dbay last month... though I did tell him it was OK that he forgot] HE said it's been a good ride...

as for the raccoon, I rarely worry when i see them in daylight [same with coyotes, opossums, etc.] ... I just figure they are looking for food, and maybe she just needed a nap, and rested a while on the fence. If it were acting odd... then i'd worry.

Good Morning!

We've got just 3-4" of snow and its gorgeous outside!

Loretta - I did not go on the hike. It was an extra day & I hadn't paid attention when signing up to notice it as an option. (Plus I'd used up most of my vacation on the flower show. That will happen again this year.)

Good morning, it looks to be a good day, the sun is shining and our temps are supposed to be in the high 40's, so that will be a good day to do anything

DH left about an hour ago to go help load a horse that his DN is taking to Amish country in Indiana. They are beginning to sell off some of the horses due to lack of funds to feed them. Anybody want to make a bid on a Belgium horse?

I am heading to the shower so that I will be almost ready to head out when DGD gets up. Probably in another hour or so.

Everybody be careful (those in the snow areas) and for heavens sake, if you don't need to be out, then stay at home.

We got around 7 inches of snow. The sun is peeking out and it's rather windy. The plow guy came around 5am and then I went back to bed. I got up around 8:30 and someone was plowing around my car. I think it was my DB. I thought he was in FL - I bet he wishes he was in FL.

Terese - I hope you are not getting sick.

Sandy, do you have a new picture of Andre to start a new thread, or do you want me to start it?

Hows the leg & tooth?

We topped off at just under 15 inches snow yesterday. DH is out snow blowing and shoveling again,
both he and Izzy are in heaven. My girl made the 11:00 news last night also...Aaron said he just loved that
picture! lol All the others were new, but he repeated Izzys. She is giving out "paw-tographs" to her fans. lol

OK, need to get breakfast...

stay safe.
