SOLVED: A type of Erythrina - rubrinevia? ID
looks more like E. cristagalli to me, but there are multiple species with a similar flower form. E. rubrinevia is more slender.
I hope you don't have to fight the Erythrina Gall Wasp in NZ...
Erythrina crista-galli looks a good match to me.
